If you send in a submission I cannot guarante it will be used, but it might! I will allow a week for submissions to come in after I finish the first part, then I will choose the one I like the most! The story takes place before the elves went to Sorrows End, before the fisrt Holt burned down, before Redlance had been captured...
The story begins...

Cutter sighed as he looked out across the forest from his perch high in the branches of the Father Tree. The sun was just setting, and it painted the sky beautiful shades of pink and blue. The stars were just coming out and a fleeting thought passed through Cutter's mind. Too bad Skywise is still sleeping in his den, he'd love to see this. That reminded him that the other Wolfriders would be rising soon, and it would be time for the big hunt before the White Cold. Cutter jumped out off his branch, catching another one half way down and then swinging inward, landing just inside Skywise's-his brother in all but blood-den. "Wake up, sleepy one!" Cutter said. Skywise opened one eye, then the other. "Night already?" He groaned. Cutter smirked, not bothering to reply. The white haired star-gazer untangled himself from his furs and stood up, pulling on his clothes. **Up for the hunt, Fahr?** Cutter sent. Skywise nodded as he got on his face guard. "Yup. Hope it's a good one, I can smell the White Cold coming already!" The two hurried out and jumped the last couple of feet to the ground. **Time for the hunt, wake up sleepy heads!** Cutter sent. Heads began appearing out of trees all around him as Cutter's tribe rose. It only took a few minutes until all of them had assembled before Cutter and were waiting for his word. "Since Rainsong is pregnant, she'll stay here with Woodlock to protect her, Newstar, and Dart. Dewshine and Scouter and Moonshade will stay too." The seven who would stay nodded and drifted away to do what they would around the Holt. "Since we're going out of our usual Hunting Grounds, we should be careful not to head toward the humans, agreed?" The tribe nodded as one. "Right. Once we're out of familiar territory the best tracker, Redlance, will take the lead. Clearbrook, what the back incase any humans pick up our trail." Everyone agreed, and Cutter grinned. "Then let the hunt begin!"

The chosen hunters tilted their heads and called to the nearby wolf pack to bring their wolf friends over in preperation to leave. When all of the elves had mounted their wolves, Cutter nodded and started Nightrunner in the direction that a herd of branch-horns were last known to have been. Cutter knew that the herd would have moved on by now, but with any luck, Redlance should be able to pick up their trail without any difficulty. Skywise urged Starjumper up beside his friend and chief and looked at him from the corner of his eye. "Going after those branch-horns, are we?" "Yes, I doubt that they would have moved far in this weather, they're settling in for the White Cold too, and no one has seen any humans in that area for quite a while." "You do realize that the humans could have gotten the same idea that you did about the branch-horns." "Not if they didn't know they were there in the first place. Besides, it's a chance that we have to take to insure a good hunt." Skywise had started to reply when Nightfall came up with them and interrupted him. "Cutter is right. With Dart and Rainsong's cub on the way, we can't afford a lean White Cold. We need the meat that those branch-horns can supply." Skywise shrugged and replied, "Let's do it then."
