Cantrip - Nullach's Berry bomb (enchantment,alteration)
Range: touch Components: V,S,M Duration: 2 rounds/level Casting Time: 1
Area of Effect: special Saving Throw: none
A favorite spell of apprentices, Nullach's Berry Bomb is a
relatively harmless, though quite messy, enchantment. Known for his
repetoire of explosive and bomb-like spells, Nullach developed this cantrip
as a form of revenge to be taken on a bully who harassed him during his
apprenticeship. When the spell is cast, the mage enchants a number of
berries, up to two per level, or whatever amount can fit in his hand
(whichever is smaller). From then on, whenever any of these berries are
crushed, dropped or thrown they will explode in a spray of sticky juice.
This causes no damage, but has been known to have a disruptive effect on
foes, depending on where the berries detonate. If a berry is thrown into
the face of an enemy, requiring a called shot at -4 (the berries can only be
thrown from a very close range, say 3' or so), there is a chance that the
enemy may be blinded. This chance is 25%, reduced 5% for every point of
dexterity the target has over 12. The chance is increased by 5% for every
plus the thrower has with his missile attack adjustment. The berry bomb
can disrupt spellcasting only if cast into the face of the enemy mage. If a
berry bomb explodes in the face of an enemy, they suffer a -1 to hit, or -4
if blinded. Blindness is only temporary, taking the target only a few
moments to wipe the juice from its eyes. A favorite game of apprentices
is to fire the berries from a blowgun, to a range of 10 yards. The
enchantment on the berries lasts 2 rounds for every level the caster has
gained.
Nullach offered the bully a handful of his enchanted berries as a
truce. The bully lived, and never bothered Nullach again.
Cantrip - Renfrew's Jelly Sandwich (invocation)
Range: 0 Components: V,M Duration: permanent Casting Time: 1
Area of Effect: Special Saving Throw: none
This cantrip allows the caster to create, from an enchanted fruit
and a grain of wheat (or any other grain), 1 delicious jelly sandwich for
every level they have gained. These sandwiches are a good source of
energy and 1 counts as a meal for a person per day. When the caster
has uttered the cantrip, he holds up any berry which has been enchanted
with this spell beforehand (20 berries can be enchanted at once), and a
grain of wheat. Instantly, a jelly sandwich of the appropriate berry type
appears in his hand. This can greatly cuts down the cost of food for the
mage, as only a small bag of grain is needed. The berries can be picked
by hand. Any variety will suffice, but if they are poison, the spell will
not function. Peanuts can be added as an optional ingredient, requiring
1 peanut per sandwich and allowing the mage to produce a peanut butter
and jelly sandwich.
Cantrip - Mosquito Swarm (conjuration/summoning)
Range: 10'/level Components: V,S,M Duration: 1 round/3 levels
Casting Time: 1 Area of Effect: 5 foot cube Saving Throw: special
When this spell is cast a small cloud of swarming, biting
insects forms centred on a target specified with the casting of the spell.
The swarm is composed of mosquitos, one of the most hated blood
sucking vermin known on the face of the planet. The mosquitos cause a
great deal of distraction. Enemies in the cloud suffer but one point of
damage for every 3 rounds spent in the swarm. During the first round, no
action can be taken by any being who fails a save vs. spells, those who
save are able to move out of harms way. Any creature caught in the cloud
in the first round can not cast spells or attack. There is also a 10%
chance that a victim will become temporarilary blinded (-4 att, ac) due to
mosquitos flying into the individual's eyes. Victims must spend one round
clearing their eyes of mosquitos. On the following rounds, the mosquitos
cause those inside to suffer -1 to attack, damage and armor class, due to
the great annoyance they cause. Enemy spellcasters can cast spells on
the second and following rounds, but add 2 to their initiative. Any fire
can dispel the mosquitos, but they are too small to be affected by weapons.
Usually, no more than one person can be the target of this spell, however,
individuals standing within 3 feet of each other may be in the area of
effect (they save at +1, as the spell was not centred on them). At the end
of the spell's duration, the mosquito swarm disappears in a last loud buzz
of insect wings.
The material component for this spell is a live mosquito, which
must be held by he caster.
