First, I explained a bit of their backgrounds, as well as the background of the station. You see, this is the Nibelheim system the heroes are in. It is the closest point between the Kar'Soran Mercantile Empire and the United League of Races. The relay was built to make communications easier between the two. It would be going online in about a week's time. Now, the two mechalus were on board because Goresh was not only ambassador, but also because he was familiar with certain mechalus technologies that were being used in the relay. Dalek was there as Goresh's bodyguard. Ezekiel was there as the station was on the edge of the frontier, so he thought it was as good a place as any to charter a exploration ship. The two remaining heroes were not there legally. Whooshra had been wandering the stars for only a short time, and had wanted to come to this place as he'd seen it in a vision. When denied access, he snuck aboard a cargo shuttle and hid in a crate. He was detained soon after when the shuttle docked at the relay station. Morgan, on the other hand, had gotten caught cheating at cards on a Nibelheim casino. He had been there in wait for the Unity day celebrations. The people he was playing with weren't exactly nice guys, and he was forced to run for his life. He hopped the nearest shuttle to get away, and hid. When they docked at the station, he was also detained.
The adventure began as Morgan and the Whooshra were being let out of their prison cells. They would be sent home ASAP, as soon as the station's shuttles and the majority of the crew returned from the Nibelheim Unity Day celebrations. Only one tech team had stayed behind, as well as the independents (ie the heroes). Soon after the the stow-aways are shown to their temporary quarters, and meet the rest of the group, the primary power and gravity went out. Everyone was floating around, rather disoriented, while Whooshra seemed to be enjoying himself. The doors were sealed, so Goresh tried to interface with the control pad to see what was wrong. The computer said that there was a hull breach in their quarters, so the doors had been sealed. Eventually, Goresh managed to hack the door open. They floated around level C for a while, opening door after door, looking for others (the highlight being when the primitive Whooshra tried to interface with a door panel like Goresh did, got a critical failure, and ended up smashing the panel to bits).
They moved down to level D to restore power and gravity. On the way to the main reactor, Goresh got a critical failure while trying to open a door. Not only did the door not open, but he got a nice electrical shock at the same time :). At the central power computer, Whooshra used postcognition to see what had happened. They saw the tech team that had been left behind, along with Jax Walken (the leader of the team) turning the power and gravity off, as well as commenting about planting something. Also, they got their weapons back when the gambler lockpicked the weapons locker. Gravity was restored, but only partial power could be brought back online. They then headed down to level E where they found the chief of security's body. Morgan took his security passcards, while Dalek took his mass pistol.
The group went all the way up to level A, the command deck. Here they found the bodies of four station security personel, all killed in a firefight. As Morgan checked each one for life signs, a mortally wounded chief engineer, Teri Reed, stepped from behind a consol, stutter pistol drawn and aimed at a suprised Morgan. Luckily, Goresh knew her and was able to calm her down. She told the heroes that a virus had been planted in the communications computer. Goresh tried to stop the virus. He did a password crack: it failed. A system hack: it failed. Things looked bad up to this point, but they got a whole lot worse when the computer started displaying a 20:00 min countdown to the transmission of the virus. Up to this point, the only thing Goresh had succeeded in was discerning the nature of the virus: it was designed to attack a specific system, the Interstellar Stock Exchange. It would generally cause havoc with the computer once it was transmitted, possibly resulting in a market crash.
I cringed at this point as they heroes decided to destroy the comm computer and use the station's weapons array to destroy all remaining comm satellites. Expensive equipment! While Morgan and Whooshra helped Teri down to sick bay and stabilized her condition with first aid, Ezekiel and Dalek manned two of the mass cannons (soon Morgan manned the third). Goresh said if he couldn't stop the virus by the time the countdown reached 5:00 mins to begin blowing up the satellites. He tried an anti-virus: failed. Then, he tried something really different: he left the virus in the system, but redirected the satellites to only transmit to each other and the station, but not to anywhere else. He succeeded! No need to destroy all those expensive sats now.
Their troubles were almost over. Ezekiel spotted a shuttle approaching. Soon, a message was broadcast from it stating that it was Jax Walken and his team. They had the station commander hostage and said that unless they were allowed to dock and set things back to the way they were, they would kill commander Rouen. The heroes had 30 seconds to comply. The two mechalus and Ezekiel went to the shuttle bay to let them in while Morgan and Whooshra grabbed three stun grenades from the weapons locker and hid on the catwalk on the command deck. The shuttle landed and five men got out... all armed with 9mm ch SMGs! Not exactly a fair fight (the terrorists would've mopped up). Goresh then made a bluff check. He told them he had failed to purge the virus, only delay it, and that a group of League ships were on their way to destroy the station and everyone on it. One of the terrorists had a panic attack and opened fire on Goresh. Dalek, in return, got a critical hit on the guy, hitting him quite solidly with his laser rifle. Goresh, ever the diplomat, wanted to try and stop the shooting and calm everyone down. He made a charm check with a big penalty, but succeeded. The thugs dragged their wounded comrad into the shuttle, so only two thugs were left outside the shuttle. Jax came out and Goresh told him that the League was going to blow up the station unless the virus was stopped. Jax said he wanted to scan for incoming ships, and would agree to go, but only if he could bring two of his thugs as guards. Goresh said that there wasn't anyone left on the station, which Jax thought to be true (Jax didn't know about the two illegal visitors). Goresh also left his weapon behind. Jax went along and they rode the lift up to the comm pit. As Jax scanned for enemy ships, Goresh backed away and Whooshra and Morgan simply dropped the stun grenades down around Jax. The concussion blasts did little damage to the computers, but knocked Jax and Goresh into la-la land. They bound up Jax and Morgan donned Jax's clothes. Whooshra first helped awaken Goresh, then put an illusion over Morgan, making him look like Jax. Then, Goresh and the fake Jax went down the to docking bay. Everyone saw Jax had been captured, and Goresh demanded that they surrender. The fake Jax nodded his head (he couldn't talk as the group new that he wouldn't've sounded anything like Jax, so they taped his mouth). Ezekiel and Dalek then proceeded to tie up the thugs, and when that was done, the illusion was dropped. The station commander was rescued, the station relatively undamaged, and the bad guys were captured. They took the mortally wounded thug to sick bay and stabilized his condition.
Later, the anti-virus was found in Jax's dataslate and used. Also, the Nibelheim colony was contacted, and a League military detachment was sent to the station, as well as some medics to tend to the wounded. The station commander thanked the heroes. Soon after, a man dressed in a military uniform asked Goresh who all was involved in the rescue of the station. After a brief conversation, the man asked they come ith him. Apparently, Admiral Danov wanted to see the heroes ASAP in the Sol system. They gathered their belongings and departed on a League escort vessel, the Silver Ray.
