Star Trek Tactical

This site is dedicated to the study of tactical thought in the Star Trek Universe. Star Trek has spawned the creation of several games that are tactically unique.

Three of these games are: Star Fleet Battles, Three Dimentional Chess and Klingon Chess called Klin Zha. Currently only the Klin Zha site is finished.

Star Trek Tactical features rules for playing Klin Zha Kinta. Klin Zha Kinta is a Klingon form of chess with live pieces. Klin Zha Kinta is by far the most tactically challenging form of the game ever created.

Star Trek Tactical will also feature rules for playing Three Dimentional Chess. Several rules currently exist including Federation Standard, Bajoran, and Romulan. This site will feature Vulcan rules which are by the far the most complex but in my opinion give the game the tactical challenge 3d chess deserves.

Star Trek Tactical will feature ship data and scenarios for the computer game Fleet Tactical Simulator. After downloading these files you will be able to play a game that is closest thing to Star Fleet Battles yet available. (At least until Star Fleet Command is finished)
Klingon Chess was brought to life in John M. Ford's novel The Final Refection. Klingon chess is called Klin Zha. Klin Zha is played on a triangle shaped board and simulates Klingon ground combat. Klin Zha can be played as a board game and is now also available for download for the computer. Klin Zha Kinta is a form of Klin Zha that is played with live pieces. These web pages feature rules for simulating Klin Zha piece to piece combat. The rules for Klin Zha Kinta also enable players to arm pieces with several different types of tradional Klingon weapons and track the history of pieces skill levels.

Klin Zha Kinta is by far the most tactically interesting form of the game.
