AUTHORS NOTEs: In the spirit of the season, I wrote a Valentines Day
story. Personally, I hate Valentines Day cause it's like its only for
people who have signifigant others. But, I wrote a story for it anyway.
ENJOY!

*It's going to be a _long_ day...*
Beverly Crusher walked down the corridor to Sickbay. All she could think
about was that morning...

She woke up to soft kisses on her neck. She smiled. "Good morning,
Jean-Luc."
"Good morning, my love. And Happy Valentines Day!" He began kissing her
again, right where he left off.
"Valentines is today? Oh, Jean-Luc! I completely forgot."
"That's all right, Beverly. Don't worry about it. I have something very
special planned for tonight..."

*A long day indeed,* she thought as she walked into her office. Beverly
sat down at her desk to get started on the day's work when she noticed a
single long-stemmed rose laying on her desk. *Jean-Luc Picard, whatever
am I going to do with you?* She smiled as some not-so-G-rated thoughts
crossed her mind.
She picked up the rose to set it aside in order to get her work done,
and noticed a small, hand-written note attached to the stem. It peeked
her curiosity and she read:
"Beverly,
You keep my love alive.
-Me"
Beverly sighed. *I love you, Jean-Luc.* She smiled and shook her head,
turning her thoughts back to the work at hand - reports.
As soon as all of the reports had finally been completed, Beverly
Crusher stepped out of her quiet and serene office into the hussle and
bussel of Sickbay.
A passing ensign noticed her and greeted her as traditional StarFleet
protocol states. "Doctor Crusher."
"Ensign." She laughed. *He must be new...*
Once he had moved from her field of view, something caught her eye on a
nearby biobed. Another rose. And another note. She read it:
"You keep me going, too."
*Okay, Beverly,* she told herself, *think.* She went back into her
office, picked up the first rose and re-read the note. Then the same
with the second.
*What type of game is he playing anyway? Think, think, think! A note
about living on the first rose and there was another rose on the biobed.
So a note about 'going' means... Engineering?*
She ran out of Sickbay and into Main Engineering as quickly as she
could, receiving many strange looks from random crew members in the
corridors. Upon entering Engineering, Beverly paused a moment to take a
look around. The wasn't a rose anywhere to be seen. *Now, where could it
be?*
"Doctor Crusher?" Geordi asked, sensing that something might be wrong.
"Is there anything I can do for you, Doc?"
A young lieutenant working at a phase buffer console stepped away to
check his work on a PADD, which revealed another rose.
"Are you all right, Beverly?"
"Oh, uh, no thank you, Geordi." She blew right passed him, making a
B-line for the console and read the next note:
"And the stars in your eyes always brighten my day."
*Eyes? No. Stars?... Stellar Cartography!*
She rushed once more down the corridors of the _USS Enterprise_,
creating the same strange looks as before. Entering the room, she saw
yet another rose.
"Everyday, I think of the wonderful chemistry we have together."
*The Science Lab...*
"You hold the keys to my heart."
*Keys? No. That can't be it. Hold... the *cargo bay*?*
"Not to mention how I love spending time in you warm arms,"
*My quarters... How much longer will this go on?*
"I even get pleasure from just looking at you."
*Maybe the Observation Lounge?*
"When you first said you loved might, I thought it might be an
illusion."
*Illusion... illusion... the Holodeck?*
"And I promise to protect you from any harm."
*Security!*
"Memories of our dinners together will say with me always."
*Ten Forward*
"After 25 years, you're finally mine."
*His quarters...*
Beverly walked in, expecting to she Jean-Luc standing there. Instead,
all she saw was a twelfth rose, complete with another note, lying on the
table.
"You followed this maze faithfully and now..."
"And now *what*?" She inadvertently said out loud.
"And now," he stepped out from another room, "I have one question for
you, Beverly."
"What is it, Jean-Luc?"
He took her hand and kneeled down while taking something out of his
pocket. By the time Beverly realized that it was a ring, Jean-Luc was
slipping it onto her finger, saying, "Beverly Howard Crusher, I love you
with all of my heart, all of my body, and all of my soul. Will you marry
me?"
"Oh Jean-Luc!" She pulled him up off of the floor. "After a proposal
like that, how can I refuse?"
He pulled her close and kissed her. "I love you so much, Beverly."
"I love you, too."
They leaned to each other again, in a kiss that said much more to them
than any words ever could.
THE END!
