His father was the greatest of Heroes, saving the entire universe
from subjugation time and time again! Now he must continue that tradition , his powers are
the same, but his outlook is different. He wields the mighty Nega bands and has the
Celestial insight of Cosmic Awareness. The universe is his inheritance, for he is its
Protector as he struggles to find his place amidst the Heavens, his buds call him Genis,
but he's known and feared by his enemies as....
What has gone before: Last issue Genis -Vell returned to earth after narrowly defeating
both Drax the Destroyer and Firelord. When he arrived he found things on Earth had been as
radically changed as on Titan. Whole sections of NY city were mysteriously altered. But
this was as nothing, for when Captain Marvel tried to contact the Mighty Avengers, he was
savagely attacked, and only escaped by the skin of his teeth. Since then he's been hiding
amidst the dregs of humanity. Disguised as a bum, Captain Marvel has avoided the Avengers
and others hunting him for weeks. But now the time for action has come again....
"Captains Log, Yeah, I always wanted to say that" Genis thinks, "I
guess it comes from a childhood of Star Trek TNG. Pretty funny actually. Those memories
were sort of forced fed to me in my Earth education program. They've served me well too.
If only these Earthers knew how close their imaginings were to the real thing."
Genis walks slumped over, wearing rags, and covered in grime.
"If not for Bousquets' love of Star Trek I would never have been acquainted
with it at all." He reminisces. "He was a good teacher, and a friend ,
on Titan. Who knows where he is now. If he's even alive after all this revision that's
been done to the cosmos."
Genis rounds a corner, as a modern hover truck pulls up to the corner, and several
stainless steel clad men empty from the back of the truck, and take places around the
block. One of them steps forward , a rod-like device in his hand.
"Here we go again."Muses the young hero
The man begins to speak, his mouth the only part of his face save his eyes showing
behind his stainless steel helmet, as his rod device begins to glow, resulting in an image
being formed in front of himself.
"Citizens" He begins, "This man is wanted for treason against the God of
us all."
"Whoa!" Genis almost blurts out loud, "That's a new one,
"God of us all?" What By Chronos is that about? At least I know the handsome
devil in the holo-image."
Captain Marvel's own face stares back at him, floating inches above the pavement, but
wearing his original costume, not the new one he recently found himself in at Uwey's
behest.*

The man continues, "He is wanted for inciting discontent among the masses, and
must pay for his many crimes."
"I've had enough of this garbage." Genis thinks to himself, "It's
time I blew this burg anyway. After what I found out yesterday, getting out of here on the
sly is probably the best thing I can do. After all, from what I see, I'm probably the only
person on this planet that can still die."
Captain Marvels mind races back to the events of only yesterday, when a another
hover-truck rounded up transients from the area of low-town he was hiding out in. Genis
found himself amongst people from all walks of life. And no one paid anyone else any heed
at all. They were swiftly taken to what appeared to be a training facility of some sort.
There, men, women, and children, as well as older, retiree age adults fought side by side
as well as against each other, using all sorts of weaponry, from simple sticks, to energy
blasting weaponry not thought of by any 20th century Earthman. And then the
oddest part of the whole experience struck Genis-Vell like a sledgehammer. As he watched,
an old man slipped and fell in the mud, while in the midst of a mock battle. His opponent
proceeded to chop the mans arm off with a downward slash of the cruel blade he wielded.
Instead of screaming in agony, the older man merely lifted his arm up, and held it in
place, as weird energies coruscated around it. In less time then it takes to tell, the arm
healed, and the man was whole again. This time his blade severed his foes leg, again the
same result, the almost instantaneous healing.
Captain Marvel shakes himself free of hie reverie, and head cast down, somberly walks
away from the still talking soldier.
'No doubt this is getting crazier by the minute."He thinks to himself, "That
training area was on the seventeenth level up, above the mag-rails. I DO NOT like what is
going on here. Worse part is, I can't make heads or tails of it all. It seems like
everyone is training for war, no matter how old they are, or how young. In fact that's
another thing, I have yet to see any pregnant women here at all. It seems everyone is an
adolescent or older. No one younger. What gives?"
Then, an idea strikes Captain Marvel.
"This will tell me if what I suspect is true really is. If it is, I'm in
deeper stuff then I thought I would be."
Focusing inwardly, Genis lets his cosmic awareness flow outwards from him, to wrap
itself around the Universe itself, before he gets the answer to the question on his
suddenly even more worried mind!
"I-it's not just here! This is what I was afraid of, it's everywhere. Every
sentient being in the Universe is in training of some kind! Every one! And from what it
looks like, they're training to go to war! And very soon!"
Across the Universe, somewhere/when, a being of immense and unholy power speaks to
another , who though his obvious prisoner, may well be his better on the scale of power.
For his very life force is being drained by the first grim, shadowed figure.
"So", begins the gravel voiced being who so obviously is in command of the
situation, "As of yet our little pawns have not found Captain Marvel. No matter. He
is of no consequence at this point. He cannot stop my plan. No one in all levels of
creation can. "
The grim one receives no answer form the giant figure strapped to the device before
him. In shadow, energy flows from the others very flesh, as unknown devices absorb and
collect that energy, putting it to another purpose. The shadowed ones mouth is stretched
in a permanent scream as his very life force is sucked form his body, his eyes, his mouth,
his very flesh.
"Again, your sacrifice will be a worthwhile one. Perhaps you do not, or will not
believe so. But the end result will be beneficial to me. And am I not the one true God
now? Hahahahahahaha! Soon, oh so soon she will feel my wrath. And then she will know of a trueunstoppable
force. She was always purported to be inevitable. But that is no longer so. Now she will
know fear. I have been denied by her, now she will know the price of her duplicity."
And the dark ones demonic laughter fills the room they are in and then beyond, as the
universe itself suddenly grows slightly----colder, and fear fills the heart of every brave
man throughout it. Every man , save one!
Captain Marvel walks , hunched over, slowly away from what was mid-town Manhattan in
another time.
"I have to get out of here, and I finally figured out where to go, who to see.
If she'll even know me when I arrive, but she's the best shot I've got. I have a feeling
about her. Something tells me she'll remember."
Suddenly a shout breaks Genis' silent reverie .
"That's him! I saw his face, he's hiding out, I know that's the heathen! Get
him!"
Captain Marvel turns and knows already what he'll be facing as he slaps his Nega Bands
together, changing the rags he's worn for weeks into his regular battle attire. Instantly
the grime he hid his face behind is gone, as the Mighty Nega Bands convert matter and his
power returns instantly as he absorbs Sunlight in epic proportions!
"No use carrying on the charade now I guess, I've been shunting off Solar
energy so no one could track me by it. But I've been found out, so I might as well meet
this head on.."
Spinning instantly, Genis avoids the attackers haphazard lunge, as he slides under it,
he delivers a knife hand blow to the mans neck, rendering him instantly unconscious.
Suddenly a blaster bolt singes the air above his head, narrowly missing him as he deftly
drops out of its target.
"Sorry Sparky, but no way is it gonna be that easy." Is the heroes only
answer.
Genis rounds his foe, one of the armor wearing rod bearers, the rod still smoldering
from its blast. Both men circle warily.
"Surrender heathen" The soldier begins, "I'll make sure your end will be
painless."
Genis chuckles softly, "Really? How magnanimous of you . Sorry buddy, but I can't
comply. I've got no intention of leaving the mortal coil so quickly. Really, I only got
here pretty recently."
As he speaks Captain Marvel lunges in and attacks his foe, a side thrust kick doubles
the heavily armored man over, denting the powerful armor like it was foil!
Clang!
Then landing solidly, Captain Marvel fires off a powerful left lunge punch to the
soldiers head that drops him like a dead weight, the helmet shatters like glass at the
powerful blow!
Bang!
Behind him, he hears hand claps, but their sarcasm is not lost on him. He know who it
is before he turns.
"The Avengers."
"That's right. "Captain America begins, "You know why we're here.
Surrender now . You have no choice otherwise."
Behind Captain America stands The Vision, Ms. Marvel, The Abomination, the Crimson
Dynamo, as well as a twenty five foot tall Black Goliath.
"Man," Genis begins," that is the mottliest group of Avengers I've ever
seen. I'm surprised you don't have King Cobra in there too."
The Crimson Dynamo snorts derisively "Be flippant all you want callow youth, but
you stand no chance against the Assembled Avengers!"
As on cue, Captain Marvel streaks skyward, slamming into the Dynamo like a meteor!
Ka-KOW!
Reversing his flight path, Genis brings down both his clenched fists on the back of the
Dynamos head, hard!
Ba-BOOM!
"Next!" Shouts Captain Marvel triumphantly.
The dynamo drops like a puppet who's strings have been cut. He hits the pavement with a
loud crash, as Captain America hurls his shield at Genis -Vell, shouting "Avengers
Assemble!" at the same time. Instantly , the Vision is airborne, firing his solar
eyebeams at the young hero.
"Uungh!" Shouts the surprised hero, as both shield and eyebeams strike him
simultaneously. He topples from the sky, to right himself before crashing like the Dynamo
did seconds earlier.
The Vision comes around again, this time he seeks to phase through the young hero, but
Captain Marvel reacts instinctively, as the Visions out raised hand seeks to touch him, he
rolls through the air, to fire a photon beam at the Syntheziod Avenger, which harmlessly
passes though his immaterial form.
"You cannot harm me Captain Marvel . I am untouchable in this form."
"Yeah Vizh, I know, but you're so slow a flyer, you're no real threat to me either
"No kid, but I am" Comes a female voice form behind him
"Uh oh." Is all Genis can think before the blow arrives!
Brak!
"The punch throws Captain Marvel end over end backwards, as he struggles to remain
coherent. His thoughts a jumble, but one name rings in his mind as instincts again take
over, "Ms. Marvel."
Genis again rights himself, as a massive hand reaches up to grab his plummeting form,
and savagely heave him to the ground.
Bam!
"The Abomination." Is what rings through Genis' mind as the big man-monster
grabs him again. "Gotta strike back, and fast! "
Thought becomes action, as Captain Marvel unleashes his photon blasts directly into the
green goliaths face, at full power!
Sha-BOOM!
"Arrgh!" Screams the Abomination
Captain Marvels Nega bands glow with extra, solar derived strength, as he gives his all
in one titanic blow! The right cross sends the Abomination flying, like a missile , to
crash repeatedly through several buildings!
Ba-DoW!
Then his resolve firmly in place, Captain Marvel concentrates his Cosmic Awareness
outwards, his face reflecting the cosmos, as he awaits the remaining Avengers attack.. He
doesn't have to wait long, as Ms. Marvel rockets towards him. He silently stands his
ground, and as she approaches , her punch aimed directly for his head, Captain Marvel
strikes! He drops below her attack, spinning a left handed backfist into her, smashing her
directly into the Vision, who quickly changes his density to soften the blow to her and
catch her rocketing form with his own, the resultant collision renders both immediately
unconscious.
Pa-Kow!
Captain America and Black Goliath stand ready to attack, as Captain Marvel floats above
them.
"Only two left Captain, . Why don't you and the beanstalk guy cut out now, before
I get really angry." "Gotta keep up the arrogance, and the pressure. Make
him think I'm getting cocky. He's a master strategist. I have to use that against him,
then get the hell out of here!"
"You had your chance Godless one, now you'll pay the ultimate price!" As he
speaks, Captain America hurls his shield once more. This time Captain Marvel does the
unthinkable, he catches it! Then he tosses it away, with all his might, in the opposite
direction.
"Go fetch shield slinger."
Captain America smiles slyly .
"No boy, I won't have to."
Again Genis' face reflects the stars , as he matches the other Captains smile, He hangs
in the air motionless, out of reach of the two below him, and then he's gone! And at the
same instant he leaves, the thrown shield returns, faster then a guided missile!
"Get down!" Is all Captain America can get out as he throws himself at Black
Goliath, knocking them both out of harms way, as the indestructible shield cleaves through
buildings and vehicles like a hot knife though butter!
Ba-KOOOM!
Miles away, Genis' feels that both are fine through his Cosmic awareness, but he's long
since out of their range.
"Caps shield always returns, so he' was beaten by his own devices. But now
I've got to find her. She may be the only person alive anywhere, who's unaffected by this
lunacy. At least I hope so"
Within seconds after leaving NY, Captain Marvel is above Denver, Colorado. His Cosmic
Awareness guides him unerringly to the woman he seeks, he just doesn't find her where he
had assumed he would. He never figured to find her strapped to a burning pyre as fifty
people hurl stones and flaming torches at her screaming form!
"Angie!" Is all Genis can stammer out!

>Hey Ralph! Well, this was another great issue of Captain
Marvel!
Seeing the easy defeat Genis handed Drax and Firelord was great.
He
really has progressed a lot from the young man he was to a great
hero.
The fight with Thor and the alternate universe Avengers team
was
great. I especially liked the presence of the Crimson Dynamo and
the
Abomination. Keep up the great work pal, because I can't wait to
see
where this is going!
Well TJ, I hope I can keep you all in suspense a while longer with this one. Things are
going to get a lot worse here for ol' Genis before they even begin to get better. But
you'll see what I mean by the end of next issue. Hehehehe
Another great issue, Ralph. The Revisionist War looks to be
another
great storyline. You've built quite a mystery here, one I'm
looking
forward to learning more about.
One request for the series after this story is finished and
things
return to 'normal': I'd like to see Genis' supporting cast featured
a
little more. It seems like the last few issues they haven't
been
getting as much play as they used to.
