Splash page : A Quinjet, it's wings flipped upwards, makes a VTOL type landing in the
underground bunker, as support staff as well as Vision and Yellowjacket mill about, oblivious to
the landing plane.
SHHOOOOMMM!
Vision : "These improvements to the Quinjets defenses seem sound Yellowjacket
Y J : "Speaking of which....."

YJ : "It seems our newest house mates have arrived."
Spider man disembarks from the Q-Jet, followed by Mary Jane and their daughter May.
M J : "I still think this wasn't necessary Tiger. We were safe and sound in casa Parker. Nobody
would've bothered us there in West Virginia."
Spidey: "right Hon, that's what all the poor people in Washington D.C. thought as well."
May: "Daddy, c'n I look around some?"

Spidey bends down to look his daughter in the eyes as he removes his mask.
Spidey : "Honey, you have to be careful around here. You can look around , but anywhere you
see that says "Restricted access only"means don't go! Understand?"
M J : "Yes daddy, I understand."
She grins precociously , then leaps away in a bounding leap that turns all heads.
Vision: "Hhhmmm, amazing."
M J : "That's my kid."
Spidey : "OUR Kid , Red."
Vision : "It is good to see you again Spider-Man. "
Vish and Spidey shake hands.

Y J : "Hey fellow bug type hero , How are you ?"
Spidey : "I'm fine Y J, you and yours?"
Y J : "We're coping webhead, we're coping."
Vision: "I am curious my friend, why did it take you two months to return to us?"
Spidey : "Well Vish, to tell you the truth I couldn't convince Mrs. Parker here to leave our little
love nest."

M J : "Yeah, go ahead Bug boy, blame me. "
Spidey : "Well not for nothing gorgeous, you DID put up one heckuva fight there. In fact I thought you were going to turn back into Red Sonja* at one point and bop me with a sword."

M J : "Naaah Petey, that ladies got nothing on the anger I had for you."
Spidey : "Well M J , I still want you and May safe here while I do my part for the war effort."

M J : "What makes you think they'll use that burning sky thing again Peter? So far they've been
quiet for the past two months."
Y J : "Yes Mary Jane, since we dealt them two rather decisive defeats.*"
* Check out our last two issues true believer!
Vision: "Yes Hank, but as you yourself have said, a weapon of that severity would take a large
amount of time to "recharge" as it were. Perhaps that time has passed and the Burning Sky is
read to strike again."

Y J : "That's what I was afraid of Vish. That's why I contacted Spidey and sent him our findings."
Spidey : "Yeah, and what we found was that this global weapon works on the Earths geothermal
power as well as the planets magnetic resonance."
Y J : "I think this thing could strike again at any time, anywhere at this point."
Spidey : "Any more luck on finding a way to shut it down permanently? "

The heroes, with Mary Jane( Peters arm around her) begin to leave the hanger area and walk into
the deeply hidden bunker.
Y J : "Not as of yet Spidey. Reed and Tony are busting their heads to come up with something on
this, but I don't see anything coming up soon."
Spidey: "What, you're not involved? The man who discovered the Pym particle?"
Y J : "No, I've been involved every step of the way, but in that field of research, I'm a bit over my
head."

Spidey rubs his chin.
Spidey : "Well Hank, I think you and I should stick our egg heads in there and look around a bit .
We're not exactly stupid , even though our expertise is in other related fields. Maybe we could
see something our more disciplined associates don't."
Y J Stops in his tracks and looks at Spidey with an astonished look on his face.
Spidey : "What? What'd I say?"
Y J : "You changed almost your entire personality in about one sentence there. That was
amazing. You went from wise cracking , fearless super hero, to stern and stiff scientist in the
blink of an eye."

M J : "You should see him play poker Dr Pym."
Y J : "No, Mary Jane, no thanks. And By the way, the names Hank."
M J : "Okay Hank ."
Y J : "Since you are going to be staying here a while Mary Jane, why don't I introduce you to my
wife, the winsome and wonderful Wasp?"
Voice from nowhere: "Now Hanky, why don't I just introduce myself?"
In an eye blink , Janet Pym grows from insect size to her regular 5' height before the startled eyes
of Mary Jane.

Then both women , with a giddy schoolgirl like giggle, hug each other like old friends reunited,
which of course is what they are !
Spidey : "Uh, girls, uh you wanna explain this to us?"
Wasp : "Oh hush up Spider-Man, Mary Jane and I go way back. When she was on "Secret
Hospital" we met at a charity luncheon and became friends."
M J : "Yep, we even did the female bonding thing, we SHOPPED !"
Y J : "I think I'm going to be sick."
Spidey: "You and me both Y J."
Wasp: "Oh pish boys! Relax, with the state of the world, can't we have a few laughs ?"

Y J : "Of course you can honey, We were just surprised is-."
Suddenly a Klaxon goes off through the bunker, and a holographic image of Fabian Stankowitz
appears floating in front of the stunned heroes.
Fabian : "Avengers, we just received an emergency transmission, You better all come to the
briefing room. This is a big one."
Spidey: "M J, go to our rooms, find May with the wall links(He points at a computerized panel
nearby.) I gotta go see about this."
M J : "Okay Petey, I understand."
Spidey , Wasp ,Yellowjacket and Vision all thunder down the hall to the elevator.
Vision: "My friends, I will see you momentarily."

Vision drops through the floor and descends on his own to the meetings area, as the others enter
the elevator , to leave it moments later as they enter the briefing room.
Cap, Vision, Iron Man, and the Scarlet Witch are already there when the rest of the heroes
arrive.
Spidey : "Hail hail, the gangs all here."
Iron Man: "Hello again web slinger, I trust you're settling in nicely?"
Spidey : "Haven't had time yet Shellhead, I just arrived , not forty minutes ago."

CapA :"Well I'm sorry to have to throw you into the fire so soon Spidey, but we just received this
message."
All eyes turn as a life size holographic image opens up. It's static filled and of very poor quality,
but the frantic filled message is clear enough. A man fills the image up close, but his
representation is poor and choppy at best.
Man :" Avengers, *Skrit* this is *Skratk*-Zar , Lord of the *Vizzzz* land. We are*Krackle*
attack! One Glo- *BBRRZZZTT* -orces are tearing through our*Brvvt* -fences , we need
*Szkrk* -elp!"

With that the image degrades all together into pure static.
Cap shuts down the replay and turn to the others.
CapA: "We have to send a team in immediately, any volunteers?"
Iron Man: "I have a better idea Steve, send the mid states branch. Let us plan our next move
while they see what's going on there with Ka-Zar."
Cap looks thoughtfully at the map appearing in the air before him.
CapA: "Hhhmm, okay Iron Man. I'll defer to your position on this one. "

Cap hits a button on the console before him, instantly Michael O'Brien's face appears floating in
the air, his greying red hair standing out prominently.
O'Brien: "What c'n I do fer ye Cap'n?"
CapA: "Contact Natasha at the Mid States team and tell her I'm sending her information on a
mission as we speak."
O'Brien :"Aye Cap, okay, thy will be done."
With a smirk O' Brien disappears .
Cap : "Okay Avengers, we have our work cut out for us."

Spidey : "Uh, pardon the late arrival gang, but what're we doing here?"
Cap A: "Planning our final strike into the heart of enemy territory."
Spidey : "Thank You Mr. President."
Iron Man: "That's only temporary Spider-Man, until this war is over."
Spidey hops up to the wall and hangs there sideways.
Spidey: "Hey whatever works armor puss, whatever works."

Cut to Slorenia. And a man we know and have seen before. James MacDonald Hudson has been
behind enemy lines for two months now. Living like a thief, hiding and avoiding all detection by
the heavily infested One Globe forces. And now he sees something that piques his interest. One
Globe forces herding the Slorenian people into trucks, bringing them to a special fenced in
compound. Seeing this Guardian smiles.
Cut to The Savage Land. The Mid West Avengers are under heavy fire, as a burning and
destroyed Quinjet is seen behind them
Thunderstrike : "Well this is going well!"

Black Widow : "No chatter 'Strike!, Cannonball! Cover us with your blast field, Moonstone,
Firebird, defend our flank! The rest of you , just grab hands and hang on!"
The team links hands with Cannonball, as he rockets away carrying all the non flyers towards the
village of the fall people. Thunderstrike flies alongside.
T-Strike : "Yo Sammy, what do you think of our mission so far?"
Cannonball: " Shush up man, this thing is tough enough as it is without your constant needlin'a
'Tasha."
T S : "Relax buddy, I'm tryin' to lighten the moment."
Rage : "Well mebbe you can tighten your lips instead loudmouth. We got a serious problem
here."

Vixen : " Everybody calm down here guys! The fall peoples village is right ahead."
C B : " Ah see it Sharon, but it don't look no better for the wear."
All eyes turn toward the decimated village as they fly closer.
Widow : "Land us on the outskirts Sam."
Firebird and Moonstone arrive at that moment.
Moonstone: "They're down Widow. No more following us or in sight."

Widow : "Good. Bonita, circle that village and see if you can see any survivors or any hidden
Globers."
Firebird nods and flies off to the nearby village.
Tash: "Okay Avengers, here's our situation, we're shot down and have no communications with
the outside world. There are Globe forces everywhere here and it looks like all the natives are
either dead , or incarcerated somewhere. Now I need suggestions people."
Moonstone: "Let's kill them."
T-Strike : "OOOh, there's an original one. Not exactly unexpected either."

Moonstone turns to Thunderstrike, her eyes blazing like fires.
Moonstone: " Masterson, remember, I 've been in this game far longer then you, and I have every
intention of being here long after you're dead and buried like your old man."
T-Strike : "Why you skanky bit..."
Widow : "Hold it Kevin, you too Karla. I've had enough of this bickering. You're both Avengers
now, start acting like it. You Kevin, live up to your fathers proud memory, and you
Moonstone..."

The Black Widow pulls up very close and eye to eye with Moonstone and whispers.
Widow: "If you ever speak that way of Eric Masterson again , you will learn why the Black
Widow is still feared to this day by hardened men the world over."
The two women lock eyes and tempers flare and boil as energy begins to coruscate around
Moonstones hand, when...
Off panel Voice : "AAAAAiiiieeee!"

All heads turn towards the village.
Cannonball : "That was Bonita!"
With a blast of exhaust he races off toward the village
Widow : " 'Strike, back him up! Rage, Moonstone, Vixen , your with me lets go, move it
people!"

The Avengers move like a well oiled machine, racing through the lush jungle and out into the
deserted town.
Moonstone : "Th-there's no one here, Firebird is gone !"
Cannonball : "That's right ma'am, Ah cain't find hide nor hair a her."
Thunderstrike lands behind Sam.
T-Strike : "Nothing Widow, Bonitas gone as if she was never here at all."
Widow : "Unacceptable! We tear this village apart until we find out missing Avenger."

Off panel voice : "That's not the way it's gonna be old lady."
All heads turn towards a thatched rooftop , there a young boy stands, in his arm is an
unconscious Firebird, a bloody gash on her forehead and a knife to her throat."
Boy : "All of you , on the ground, now. Or this witch dies!"
T-Strike : "I knew this wasn't going well."

I gotta tell ya, buddy, this series is great! I realize that by it's very nature it must be a limited
series, but I find myself wishing it could go on longer. That and there was actually art to go with
these powerhouse scripts. This series deserves to be published. And a guest appreance by Lonni!!
Very Cool! I'm jealous as all get out, but still very cool. Also, more T-Strike!! And what the
heck's wrong with Thor? Again , a great story that continues to get better with each issue! Keep
it up, Avenger!

Once again Ralph, you have surprised me! Things just keep getting better
and better in the Avengers: 2009 fanfic. The bit with Lonni was
priceless! I can't wait to see how she reacts! The Defenders were yet
another solid group and I loved them! Out of curiosity, are we going to
see any Crimson Dynamos around soon? They'd just fit in well! Anyway,
great work and I can't wait for the next chapter!

Ralph - this was just too much. Aside from more great story I actually got a guest shot - and with
Clint in a helpless position too!!!!! I laughed until there were tears running down my cheeks and
I think my ribs are as sore as poor Hawk's!
Even my infamous 'chat room' trout served up for dinner!!! I always thought it was cool that
there was a redheaded character named Lonni in one of the Avengers stories with the Squadron
Supreme - but now I get to make yet another appearance - and yes I will be 59 late in 2009 so it
fits.
Can't wait to see what happens in the next one - of course while the rest of the team goes to the
savage land you could always leave Clint with me to recover... heh... I'll take REAL good care of
him.
