Splash Page: Captain Marvel is just beginning to stand back up from where he landed after Stellerax blasted him last issue. He's basically got one knee on the ground and is steadying himself. Above him, floating in the air, his power wand glowing with energy, is the warrior known as Stellerax

Genis:( Gotta buy myself some time here. This guy came outta nowhere when I was preoccupied with those ships of Black Suns that were attacking me*. I'm still to weak to have any real chance against this guy, whoever he is.)

Genis : "Who are you ? What's your beef with me?"

Stell: "Beef" boy? I have no "beef" with you. And if you don't know me well then shame on my "sister" Elysius, otherwise known as your mother."

Genis: "You seem to know a lot about me windbag. Wanta share the reason why?"

Stell: "Very well . You are the son of Elysius and the enemy , Mar-Vell. Years ago your father and I battled above the terran city Washington , DC*. I almost bested him, but luck was on his side. How else could my defeat to an inferior be explained? I was created by Isaac and through him, Thanos to be the leader of the forces of chaos. But I failed. Your accursed father beat me, and then returned me to Titan, where I was incarcerated by Mentor. Time passed. Your father died. There were many heroes from earth present, but all were involved in helping to beat back the black death that was slowly claiming your father. "

Stell: "That was when I made my escape. While all heads were looking the other way as it were, I escaped into the great cosmos, never to be seen on Titan again. I truly doubt any even know of my escape."

Genis: "Yeah, okay. And this brings us here how? I seem to be missing something."

Stell: "Black Sun offered me a job as an Enforcer for him some time ago. I accepted and have been in his employ ever since. I am unstoppable, and his clients who default or cross him in any way find this out first hand."

Genis: (This guy loves the sound of his own voice, and he's given me time to do THIS!)

Genis rockets upwards and away from his attacker, creating operating room for himself.

Stell: "Running will not help you boy, prepare to die!"

Stellerax fires a crimson blast of energy at Captain Marvel, catching him a glancing blow

Genis: "Aarrgfgh!" (That hurt, Chaos and Order! This guy is powerful!)

Captain Marvel loops around, reversing direction as he fires twin photon blasts at Stellerax, who quickly uses his power wand to create a force shield, that blocks Captain Marvels blast

Stell: "Fool! I can block any weapons discharge you can create. I was born and created to destroy your father, and you are so much less then he."

C M : "Yeah, well, none of us are perfect MR Greenjeans."

Genis flies in close , startling Stellerax with his speed, and then he unleashes a powerful haymaker, that finds its mark! Stellerax's head!

Ba-Boom!

The villain is thrown thirty feet backwards

Genis: "Hows it feel to be on the receiving end freak?"

Stell: "Bah! I will crush you like an insect!"

Genis: "Yeah, right. You and what herd of Noggle gloms? Face it loser, Captain Marvel is no mans pushover, no matter who's wearin' the name!"

Stell: "You WILL be destroyed. Of that there is no doubt."

Genis: "Yeah, well don't expect me to be puttin' any money on you to win this fight."

Stell: "Well boy, you must be used to losing your money then."

Genis weaves through the air as Stellerax continually fires upon him.

C M: "Not me bucket head. Here, let me help you with that thing!"

He fires a blast of Photon power into Stellerax's face, knocking him from the sky like a broken toy.

Stell: "Unngh! Bah, you are weak. You hold back when you could've finished me at your convenience."

Genis: "Sorry shiny, but I don't believe in killing the enemy, not unless there's no other choice. All life is precious. At least to me."

Stell: "Idiot."

Stellerax fires a massive energy pulse at Genis, knocking him through a building and out the other side.

Genis: "Owww!" (Man, this guy is powerful! He's not gettin' any weaker either. Seems he's taking every hit I give him and returning it. But he's not absorbing any strength from my blows, I'd know. There's something else going on here.)

Drax the Destroyer fires a massive blast of power, blowing holes in the attack craft that are surrounding him. He laughs gleefully while battling.

Drax: "Ah, I had forgotten what pure battle felt like friend Eros. The exhilaration, the joy!"

Eros shakes his head. There are countless ground troops in the form of robotic guards attacking him and all Drax can do is revel in the Destruction.

Eros: "Uhh, Drax, less talk, more destroying, please?"

Drax: " Are you in need of aid Eros?"

Eros: "Well, I wouldn't mind a little bit here."

Drax sweeps his arm in an arc, turning robots to rubble in one move

Shwooom!

Drax: "There. "

Eros: "Thank you Destroyer."

Eros continues to pound on the machinations before him.

Eros: "Black Sun is getting smart. He's sending robots against me, I can't use my pleasure power against them like I did on the casino planet."

Drax: "Yes, I see that."

Eros Slams a right uppercut to a robots chin, snapping him over backwards, into two others. Then grabbing anothers legs, he begins to beat the robots back with one of their own, using the robot in his hands like a scythe, he slams it back and forth, cutting the enemy down.

Eros: "Whew. I think that does it. How are you doing with those fast attack ships?"

Drax: "They are all Destroyed. I wonder how young Genis is fairing?"

Genis is slammed backwards by a powerful right handed blow from Stellerax

BOOM!

Genis: "Unngh!"

Stell: "Prepare to meet the Gods whelp. Your death comes, and its name is Stellerax!"\

Genis: "Man , you are really into hearing your own voice. What's the deal with you?"

Stell: "You are trash boy. Your father I respected in battle. You are nothing and less then nothing to me. A clown wearing the name of a great warrior."

Genis: "Yeah , yeah , yeah, blah, blah, blah. What are you going to do, bore me to death?"

Stell: "No, I am going to incinerate you."

Stellerax fires a blast of energy that envelops Captain Marvel, heaving him backwards and away.

Shra-KOW!

Genis: "Arrrggghh!" (This is no good, I'm on the defensive here. This guy is ridiculously powerful, in the same league as Black Sun. But I can't give up. I haveta keep at it)

Shaking his head to clear the cobwebs Captain Marvel rockets into Stellerax, using all his momentum and strength and punctuating it with a powerful right handed rising punch!

Ta-BBOOM!

Stellerax is thrown backwards end over end, but is almost instantly righted and returning, his hands glowing with energy

Stell: "Is that your best boy? Well I find it wanting. Enjoy mine."

Tra-kpow!

Genis is once again hurled across the landscape of the Warehouse planet, this time he's not so fast returning to his feet.

Genis: (H-hes got me on the run here. Everything I hit him with he shrugs off. What's going on here? How can he be this powerful?)

Above the planet a burst of energy reveals a familiar figure sitting on a cosmic throne. His name is....

Thanos: " Bah, the youth does not realize what has happened here. How green he is. Perfect."

Thanos nears an empty spot in space and waves his hand. Instantly energies leap from his fingertips, and the thought empty region suddenly explodes outwards as a cloaked satellite disintegrates under Thanos' assault.

Thanos: "Huhn. A Skrull energy broadcast satellite. How quaint. The fool Stellerax was being powered by this satellite. To think he was created by myself to destroy Mar-Vell. Bah. How foolish I was at that juncture of my existence. How naive. "

He turns his chair and drops towards the planets surface, and the battle below.

Stellerax suddenly spasms in pain, as if his guts were on fire. Genis is on the ground struggling to stand.

Genis: (Now, while he's preoccupied. I've gotta re-charge myself from the ambient solar energy around me. He had me on the ropes here. If I took the time to re-charge myself earlier, he'd 've killed me in an instant, while my concentration was elsewhere.)

With a thought Captain Marvel draws in the stuff of stars, filling his being with solar power with his Nega-Bands aid.

Genis: "Okay tough guy, time for round two."

Stellerax lifts his head, he drips in sweat and shakes noticeably.

Stell: "Do your worst boy. I will still destroy you, even without my power source."

Genis: "Give it your best shot."

Stellerax fires energy blasts into Captain Marvel, who deftly avoids them, then races in, tackling his enemy, throwing them both to the ground.

Ba-KOW!

Genis: "Lets do this up close and personal creep."

Genis sweeps his enemies leg out from under him, dumping Stellerax on his backside. But Stellerax rolls over and flies upwards instantly. Circling around he strafes the ground around Genis, throwing plasti-crete slabs skywards and into Captain Marvel, battering him!

Genis: "Gaagg! Damn that hurt!" (I've gotta stop this madness once and for all!)

Captain Marvel fires twin photon blasts at Stellerax, who meets the blasts with his own, the impact shakes the buildings around them like unto a massive earthquake, flattening the nearest ones like wheat before the scythe!

Ba-ROOOM!

Genis: (Even without his extra power, this guy is tough, but so am I!)

Suddenly Captain Marvel erupts upwards, like a blast of lava from a volcano, flying through his own energy blast and into Stellerax, with a powerful double fisted punch

Ta-BOOOM!

Stellerax hits the ground, hard!

Captain Marvel dives down from above like an avenging eagle, to deliver yet another planet shaking blow!

Pra-KOOM!

Stell: "NO! I will not be beaten by the likes of you!"

Genis: " You ain't got much of a choice smiley. Your days of "Enforcing" for Black Sun are over, as of NOW!"

PA-KOW!

He punctuates his words with a powerful right cross, that puts down Stellerax, once and for all!

Genis slumps to the ground , exhausted.

Genis: "Whew, that was one tough customer. I wonder what happened there that he lost his power source? Only one way to find out."

Genis reaches outwards with his cosmic awareness, his power enveloping the small world he stands on and the surrounding space, and then he knows.

Genis: "Thanos."

As he speaks the name of the universes greatest threat, Drax the Destroyer and Starfox race over the horizon, arriving in seconds at his side.

Drax: "What? Stellerax? I haven't seen this dog since your father defeated him years ago."

Genis : "I know, and he gave me a real hard run for the money too."

Eros: "Well what happened? How'd you defeat him if he was so tough?"

Genis: "I had help."

Eros: "Who? "

Genis : "Drax should know. Do you feel him anywhere near Destroyer? The being you were created and designed to destroy?"

Drax: "He was here. I sense his presence. My true enemy. "

Eros: "My brother, the mad Titan Thanos."

Genis : "Exactly. I wonder what his stake in all this is. What's his game here? And why's he doggin' my tail?'

Drax: "I am sure we will discover that soon enough Genis-Vell. Thanos has always moved within concentric circles, plans within plans and such."

Black Sun watches a video projection of the battle between Captain Marvel and Stellerax, and then the screen flashes into another scene, this time of the destroyer and Starfox tearing through the ships and robot guards of Black Sun. Finally the last scene is of Thanos disintegrating the cloaked Skrull satellite.

B S : "So you see my friend, this boy, this Captain Marvel has attacked me and those under my employ ruthlessly and without provocation. That is why I called for your aid. As you can see , he now allies himself with the scourge of the universe, Thanos. I am powerless here. None of my guards or hired warriors can stop this madman. Please, won't you help me? He destroys everything I have spent my entire life creating. Soon all my resources will be depleted and the authorities on countless star systems seek to question me concerning unsubstantiated claims from this evil youth."

Figure whose back is to us: "I trust you very little Black Sun, but anyone who allies themselves with Thanos has to be the worse of evils. I will seek out this "Captain Marvel" and have words with him myself."

The figure steps fully into view, his hair burns as if on fire, his staff emits cosmic flame from either end as he speaks. Flames leap from his eyes.

Figure: "And if I do not care for his answers, then he will pay the ultimate price for his actions, so speaks the former herald of Galactus, so speaks FIRELORD !"

Hi Ralph

I reviewd your last CM issues on-list but wanted to drop a line or two

as well. I'm really enjoying your work here and the current storyline is

SO intriguing. I like your rendition on both Genbis and the supporting

cast. I hope to see more of Thano in the future and I am really puzzled

by what you are hinting about Elysius relations to Eros ...

I hope you are not bugged by my Quasar remark, but as I said when Quasar

is concerned I go nuts ... I'm really trying to gauge if I could stretch

myself to do another title ... maybe after the summer, when GR is

launched and Matt will be doing the script with only some plot help from

me ... who knows?

One request, if I may, let's see Adam Warlock pop in! At least if he

doesn't get his own title he can guest here.

Sigh ... why everyone says that all the characters are taken? ... there

are so many out there in search of a writer ... Warlock, Quasar,

Inhumans, Eternals, Ka-zar, Man-Thing, .....

Thanks Alex! I hope you like what I'm doing here. Yes, Warlock WILL be here, but I'm just not sure if it'll be in this arc or the next one. I'm leaning to the next arc at this point.

Ralph, another great issue. Black Sun is a formidable villain, and I'm

very impressed with him. With a cosmic title like CM, everything needs to

be big - and Black Sun's plan is certainly big! I hope we'll see plenty of

cosmic heroes attempting to stop Black Sun before Genis finally saves the

day- perhaps an appearance by Beta Ray Bill (if you can clear it with the

Thor writer :)). I think the pacing of this storyline is going really

well. You haven't rushed things to a conclusion, and that allows the

threat of Black Sun to seem more and more menacing with each successive

issue. Good job!

Thanks Matt, I've upped the anty a bit the last two issues as Black Suns plans have begun to come to a head. Keep watching, we're reaching the end of this current arc, and things are heating up big time!
