His father was the greatest of Heros, saving the entire universe from subjugation time and time again! Now he must continue that tradition , his powers are the same, but his outlook is different. He wields the mighty Nega bands and has the Celestial insight of Cosmic Awareness. Narrator : Quick dear reader, check out Thor #515 to see the end of last issues pulse pounding adventure. All the rest will be explained as we go along.

I F : " KIIIII-YEIII!

Captain Marvel pivots on his right foot, swinging the left side of his body back and to the right, as Iron Fist glides by.

I F : "Very good Genis, much better!"

Genis : "Yeah , thanks Danny, I think some of your lessons are finally sinking in."

I F : "I told you they would, it's just a matter of time and discipline you know."

Fist lands on his right foot, and immediately reverses his left into a spinning wheel kick that catches Genis in the stomach, doubling him over.

Genis : "OOOF!"

Just then Luke Cage, Power man , another member of the group "Heroes for Hire " enters the gym where Danny and Genis are working out in .

Cage : (hhmmm, seems like the Fist is takin' Marvel to school here. I better keep my mouth shut and hang 'til they're done.)

Genis stumbles back a few steps as Iron fist presses his advantage, landing on his left foot this time and following through with a round house kick to the head. Genis blocks it with an "X" style block, then he grasps Danny Rands ankle and pulls him off balance and past him.

I F : "Excellent Genis! That was great! You're thinking on your feet now."

Genis: "Yeah, but you ain't seen nothin' yet Fist!"

I F : "Don't get to cocky now Captain, I still have you on the defensive."

Genis : "Not for long you don't!"

Genis presses the attack now, throwing a forward lunge punch that tags Danny lightly on the side of the head, as he was side sliding out of the way

I F : "Not bad , not bad at all ."

Genis : "Thanks teach, I knew you could give me some pointers here."

Danny faints left, then throws a quick right jab to Genis' face. Genis throws his head back to avoid the blow, but Iron fist strikes with his true weapon, a leg sweep that drops Genis on his butt.

Genis : "Ouch! Okay teach, enough! You made your point, I was getting to cocky and it cost me."

I F : "Not my point at all Genis, I was just trying to show you that you can't feel happy with yourself over one blow when the fight is still ongoing. No victory until somebody either surrenders or drops."

Cage speaks up from where he was leaning against the wall.

Cage : "Yo Danny, we just heard from the Tiger*, she's still in Europe with Thena, but they're on their way back here now."

*Luke's referring to White Tiger, another member of H4H

I F : "Glad to hear that Luke, we have some pressing business to discuss as a team."

Genis stands up from the floor.

Genis : "I gotta tell you Danny, thank you for all you've done for me the last few weeks here. If there's anyway I can repay you, just let me know."

I F : "No payment necessary Captain. You have a mighty big Legacy to uphold

, and there's nothing wrong with you training a little bit to hone your skills."

Genis : "Well I knew you were the guy to talk to about different fighting techniques when Thor and I returned here from the Neg-zone."*

* Again, see Thor #515

Cage : "I got a question 'bout that Genis, how'd you know where Fist was? It's a big city ."

Genis points to his head and smiles.

Genis : "Cosmic awareness, led me right to him."

Cage : "That figures. Think you can use that to help me find my lost socks that disappear at the laundry?"

Genis : "Hahaha, I kinda doubt it Luke, but I'll give it a shot if it'll help you."

Cage : "Naah kid, I was only foolin' with you."

The three heroes begin to walk through the halls of Oracle inc.

Genis: "......and so after Thor and I returned from the Negative Zone, we stopped at Titan and I reassured everyone there I was safe and sound before coming back to Earth."

Cage : "What I wanna know is why you chose The Fist, and not Captain America. He's about the only guy I ever seen who c'n hold his own with Danny."

Genis : "Well no offence meant towards Cap, but my dad was skilled in Kree Martial arts, and from what I see Danny here uses some variation of that."

I F : "Well Genis, I was trained in an other dimensional realm called K'Un Lun. There's nothing concerning the Kree there."

Genis : "I don't know Danny, I see many similarities to your fighting style and the implanted memories of Kree skills I have."

Iron Fist scratches the side of his face in thought.

I F :"Hhmmm, that's interesting, I wonder if there is a connection there somewhere in the dim past."

Genis : "Could be, remember, the Kree predate life on this world by millions of years, so it's very possible some came here either as warriors for the Supreme intelligence and got trapped in the K'UN Lun dimension, or they could've even been Priests of Pama fleeing persecution."

Cage: "Yeah, I read somewhere in our shared files about the Avengers meetin' up with these Pama dudes a while back. Seems some one time Avenger turned turncoat named Mantis was trained by 'em."

I F : "Right, I remember that entry as well. That was one of the Avengers defining battles. The Pamas were here for thousands upon thousands of years."

Cage : "Right, so I guess you could be a space man Fist. That'd explain lots 'bout you I never understood."

I F : "Laugh it up Luke. My buddy."

Genis : "Well I thought it was funny."

Cage : "Yeah well if we wanted your opinion kid we'd tell it to you."

The three heroes break out laughing

Cut to Titan, as Eros, the Avenger known as Starfox and the son of Mentor, the mighty ruler of that globe watches Elysius swim in the hot springs of the Cartragian sea.

Eros: (She was my friends wife*, he and I were as close as brothers for a time. He asked me to watch after her after his death. For a time I did that, but then I left to join the Avengers and we went our separate ways. Now I feel the pangs of attraction for perhaps the first time in my centuries long existence. And I do not know how to proceed here. I've always "pushed" women to be attracted to me. I've even done that with Elysius herself at one time , prior to her meeting Mar-Vell. How do I proceed here? And should I?)

Elysius steps from the hot springs and smiles at Eros as he sits along the shore.

Elysius: "You should've joined me my friend. The water was toasty warm today."

Eros: "As it always is Lysie, as it always is." (Especially when you're around it seems.)

Elysius : "You 're very special to me Eros, have I ever thanked you for the way you helped me get through the worst part of Mar-Vells death? The months of heartfelt tearing loss would've been far worse without your kind words and strong shoulder to lean on. You're like a brother to me Eros. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."

She leans over and kisses him gently on the cheek.

Eros: ( Hard to believe, after all this time I finally realize what I could've had with Lysie, only to find out it's to late.)

Eros looks out over the water at the holographic image of the Sun setting in the distance as Elysius leans her head on his shoulder.

Cut to the Halls of Oracle Inc, as Cage, Fist and Genis sit down for a bite in the cafeteria.

Genis: "So how do the other employees of Oracle react to you guys? Everybody here seems to pretty much ignore us , except for the occasional "Hello".?"

Cage : "They were a little stunned at first, but you gotta remember, this is a company owned by Namor the Sub Mariner, so they're used to weirdness happenin' amongst 'em."

I F : "Yes, I can't remember any adverse reactions to us since we've been here."

Suddenly the commissary wall explodes inwards, as debris wounds and scatters the employees here for lunch.

Cage : "Sweet Christmas !" What the Hell is happenin' here?"

I F : "Move people, we're under attack, everyone get out of here!"

Suddenly a form as black as night coalesces in the room amidst swirling energies. He stands almost eight feet tall and half again wide. His mouth is wide and filled with shark like razor sharp teeth. His hairless head having two burning orbs protruding from it, giving off pure evil. On his index finger is a single glittering ring.

Figure: " I have come for you Captain Marvel, I will make your death quick and painless as long you do not resist."

Genis: " Big guy, I don't even know who you are, but no way do you walk outta here after an entrance like that."

Genis throws himself at the huge figure, pulling his right fist back to attack.

I F: " Marvel, NO!"

But to late comes the warning as the jet black giant grabs Captain Marvel by the throat in mid leap.

Figure:(Showing a smile of all teeth) " Foolish whelp, have you no sense? Throwing yourself at an unknown foe is a novice mistake. I expected better of the vaunted Captain Marvel."

Genis: (Through clenched teeth as this monstrous figure shakes him by the throat) "Sor-ry to...diss-apoint you. I'll ...try be-tter next time."

Figure; "There will be no next time boy. Black Sun never leaves loose ends."

Genis grasps the hand around his throat , trying to loosen Black Suns grip, when suddenly he fires a photon blast through his grip on the arm, until it coruscates up his enemies arm, to engulf his entire body!

Shhrack!

Black Sun : "Argh!"

Genis kicks free, slamming both feet into Black Suns face, as he flies away.

Cage : "Now Fist, the kids free, hit 'im low partner, I got high!"

Luke barrels into the Giant as Iron fist throws a flying kick at Black Suns knees.

Pow!

Luke slams Black Sun in the face with a powerful right, followed by a crushing left.

Thoom! Boom!

Cage: (Sweet Mama! What's this guy mad of? I had better results hittin' the freakin' Hulk!"

Genis hovers nearby, massaging his throat, the world spinning around him.

I F : (I must hit this guy with all my power, Lukes blows are having next to no effect at all on him! What is he?)

Danny begins to concentrate the Iron Fist, his namesake, his power and birthright until his hand becomes like unto a thing of Iron!

Shkrrow!

The blow pushes Black Sun back a step or two, but that's all.

B S : "Are you quite done now Iron Fist? Yes I know who you are. I know who you all are. You will not stop me from killing the boy. Nothing can."

He fires massive bolts of black energy from either hand, the blasts blow Power man and Iron fist through the walls of Oracle Inc, and out into the offices beyond.

B S :"Now where were we, oh yes, your death."

He turns looking for Captain Marvel, just as Genis drops to the floor then rockets upwards with a devastating right

Ba-Thoom!

Genis : "You want me Jaws? You're gonna have to fight for it."

B S : "Good boy, I wouldn't have it any other way."

He delivers a crushing right that Genis blocks and ducks under , then Genis fires a powerful right handed rising punch that finds it's mark

T-Kow!

Genis: (This is incredible! This guy is taking everything I've got, and he keeps shrugging it off as if I were a child And to make matters worse, every time I hit him I get a burned where I contact him.)

Captain Marvel slides to the left avoiding a deadly double fisted blow from Black Sun, once there he fires a roundhouse kick off of his right leg into the ebon Giants stomach.

B S : "You continue to impress me boy, that is why I sort you out before you heard of me."

Genis : "Oh I heard of you alright. Black Sun, big intergalactic crime cartel, at least that's where you get your name from."

B S : "Wrong boy, the Cartel gets its name from ME. I am the cartel. My name is feared in all the Galaxies, but for the wrong reasons, hahaha."

Genis : "What are you talking about? And why're you comin' after me? Chances are I would've never even crossed your path."

B S : "That is where you are wrong pup. Soon you would have come seeking me. I believe in acting pro-actively though. Thus I sort you out."

Captain Marvel continues to circle his immense foe, as both feint and gauge the others weaknesses and strength.

B S : "The time has come to end this charade pup. Your time in this world is at an end."

Before Genis can even begin to move Black Sun is upon him, his movement so blindingly fast as to be almost imperceptible. His powerful left handed blow crushes Captain Marvel through three floors beneath him, as the employees who remained in the building run for cover.

Boom!, Thhoom!, Doom!

Genis: (H-he was t-toying with me the wh-whole t-time, he moves a-at su-superhuman s-speed!)

Suddenly in a blast of black energies and smoke Black Sun reappears in front of Captain Marvel.

Genis : (Gotta t-take the o-offensive!)

B S : "Our game is over whelp. You have carried yourself admirably, but none can defeat Black Sun, as you have no doubt learned."

Genis lies on the floor as the massive figure of Black Sun approaches him.

Genis :" NOW!"

He fires all his photonic energy in a point blank blast directly into his foes face!

Tha-KOOOOM!

Wave after wave of Photonic force screams from Genis's hands as he gives his all and then more into the Earth shattering blast! His vision is completely obscured as the building around them begins to melt away like running water under Captain Marvels onslaught. Suddenly a hand reaches through the blast and wraps itself around Genis's face.

B S : "Enough of that now. This game has become tiresome. It ends here and now."

He holds Genis aloft in his left hand and backhands him with his right, once

Thwack!

Twice,

Thrack!

Thrice,

Crack!

Then he grabs the semi-conscious Captain Marvel as if he were a rag doll and raises him above his head in both hands.

B S : "You fought longer and harder then I would've expected boy, but the end was inevitable. Black Sun always wins."

With that he brings Genis down across his upraised knee!

Kra-koww!

He looks at the limp form in his hands, almost quizzically, as if awaiting some response. But then he simply tosses him to the street, some fifty floors below.

Without another word energies begin to wrap themselves around his form as he disappears from sight. An instant later Power man and Iron fist drag themselves to the shattered wall and peer down into the street at the broken form of Captain Marvel lying in a deep crater.

Cage:(In a whisper) "Sweet Christmas."

I just read Captain Marvel #70 and had to write to tell you that I loved

that story! The interaction with Thor (well, sort of Thor!) was just

great, and as always, you supplied just the right amount of action in just

the right places. I'd thought all along you would be the perfect choice to

follow me on CAPTAIN MARVEL, and judging by this issue, I'd say I was

right. Keep up the good work!
