Thor #520

"The deadlier of the species"

By Ralph L. Angelo Jr

Thor holds Cylia in the air by the throat, as Fandral stands next to Thor , Gleaming blade drawn and aimed at the villainess.

Narrator: "The time, one second after the end of our last issue. The situation in a word , DIRE!

Thor "WHERE IS THE LADY SIF??"

Page 2

Cylia: "P-put me d-down you barbarous d-dog! I a-am under the protection o-of y-your father*."

*see last issues awe inspiring wedding.

Thor: "Nay foul devil, I'll brook none of this idiocy. Thou art attempting to hide thy nefarious deeds behind an oath that thou holds no truth to."

Fandral: "Where is Sif! Where is my beloved?"

Cylia: "Your beloved? Hahahahaha, she doesn't love you, and never has. It was me you were with the whole time you thought you were courting her you vainglorious buffoon. "

Page 3

Thor: "It matters not witch, still will Thor strike thee down lest you tell us where Sif is , and how we rescue her!"

Cylia: "Uggh! R-release me! Odin! I-I have your word y-you'll protect me, y-you vowed!"

Odin looks on impassively, then approaches Thor and grabs his arm.

Odin: "She speaks the truth my son. Release her. "

Thor: "Father? What?"

Odin: "Until I can think on this more, I have sworn to protect and uphold her marriage to Fandral the dashing 'gainst any God or man*. There is naught we can do."

*Again, see last issue. It was part of Odins wedding proclamation---Misty eyed Ralph

Page 4

Thor looks angrily at the lizard thing squirming in his grip. With a massive squeeze he could snap her neck, of that HE IS sure. But to do so , though the right thing, would still make him wrong under Asgardian Law. He releases his grip and lowers her to the ground.

Cylia: "Better. (She turns to Fandral) Now my husband, let us consummate the marriage."

A voice from behind:" I have had enough of this foolishness!"

Ba-KOW!

Amora the Enchantress slams Cylia across the Garden courtyard with a terrifying right!

Amora turns to Odin

Amora: "Great Odin, thou hath sworn to protect this sham of a marriage from God and man, but thou hath said nothing of Goddess and Woman!"

Page 5

Odin smiles

Odin: "Thy cunning is most warranted in this instance Amora. As thou hath said I cannot defend the wife of Fandral from a woman nor Goddess, and thou be both most assuredly!"

Cylia: "W-what? You do not honor your oath ?"

Odin: "Nay foul deceiver, my oath is honored. Amora is not bound to it by Gender!"

Amora: "Aye lizard faced trollop, now feel the power of a goddess born!"

Page 6

The Enchantress fires a blast of eldritch power, frozen fire engulfs the Lizard goddess, bathing her in painful energies.

Sharrakkow!

Cylia: "Arrggh! Witch ! I will not be destroyed by the likes of you, I was casting grimoires while you were an undreamed of thought!"

Cylia Counters with a blast of dark forces that grip the Enchantress in a crushing hand of death!"

Vrraaakt!

Amora: " Unnghgh!

Page 7

Cylia : "Ha! Already thou art at my mercy wretched Asgardian! Feel the crushing superiority of the reptilian Gods of old!"

She strengthens her grip of magic around the Enchantress and Thor takes a step forward.

Odin: "No my son. This battle is the Enchantresses own, none can fight it for her."

Thor says nothing, but angrily his lip twitches , as every bit of his being wants to tear into the Lizard woman before him and destroy her!

Thor: "This is madness! Father , there must be some way around thy proclamation! She was not and never will be Sif. How can you let her hide behind vows that were never hers to make?"

Odin: "Do not question my motives son of my heart, there are games within games being played here. Trust in the all knowing and all seeing Odin."

Page 8

Thor stares at his father uneasily, then turns back to the battle proper.

Thor : "As you say sire."

Amora strains under the crushing power of Cylia, but she is not called the Enchantress for naught! With a mighty heave of elemental power she breaks the bindings that entrap her, reversing their power and feeding back their wrath on the evil Cylia!

Sha-KROOOM!

Amora: "NOW Wretch, the game begins in earnest!"

Page 9

Cylia: "No , you will not get the better of me you golden haired slut! Perhaps you will like life better without your looks!"

Suddenly a blast of grey energy leaps from Cylias' hands, and the Enchantress screams!

Amora: "AAAAAA!"

She pulls her hands from her face and she is a withered hag!

Hogun the Grim turns to Volstagg the valorious

Hogun: "This is not right . This battle is against all I stand for."

Page 10

Volstagg turns to his friend and shakes his head slowly .

Volstagg: "No Grim one. This battle is the Enchantresses alone. We must trust in the All Fathers wisdom on this affair."

Hogun: "I like this not Volstagg."

Fandral turns to Thor

Fandral: "Is there naught we can do Thunder God? My poor Cylia, being attacked by that venomous witch the Enchantress...."

Thor: "WHAT? Fandral art thou mad? This creature posed as Sif , to ensnare thee in her mad schemes!"

Page 11

Fandral draws his sword in one smooth motion, his eyes swimming in a mad light

Fandral : "Nay Thunderer, thou wilt not speak of my true love in such a manner! Cylia is mine and none will sever our blessed bond, not e'en thee!"

Thor : "Put thy blade down dashing one, obviously thou art ensorceled. "

Volstagg and Hogun now flank Thor on each side, all three stand facing Fandral.

Page 12

Hogun: "Put thy blade down fellow warrior, we are thy friends and sword mates. Not the creature in battle with the Enchantress."

Fandral : "N-nay! Thou doth lie! Thou doth merely want to break up our happiness!"

Volstagg: " No good Fandral, Volstagg the mighty would do no such thing e'er! Thou art a true friend, and Volstagg would e'er be proud to guard thy back from attack."

Hogun: "Hhmm, whilst cowering in a corner most likely."

Volstagg shoots Hogun a withering glance.

Volstagg: " My friend , drop thy weapon and join ranks with the proud "Warriors Three" and let us put this mad affair behind us."

Page 13

Fandral looks at his sword, noting its keen edge, then suddenly he raises his head, and madness claims his features!

Fandral : "DIEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

He hurls himself at the three friends in front of him, sword held high for a savage cut, when suddenly...

Zzzzrrraaaaakk!

He drops to the ground unconscious, a bolt of energy having cut him down in mid leap.

Off panel voice: " Oh please, I grew bored with all the posturing."

Page 14

All eyes turn to Loki , who leans against a tree in the All fathers Garden, left foot against the tree trunk while he looks at his nails on his right hand.

Thor: "Loki......"

Loki : "Relax Thunderer, he is not dead. Merely freed from his spell. He should in truth reawaken momentarily."

Suddenly a blood curdling scream snaps everyone around to the battle before them, as The Enchantress fires a bolt of green flame at the evil Cylia.

Page 15

Cylia : "Aiiieee!"

Instantly Amoras transformation reverses, and she is her normal stunning self once more!

Amora: "Art thou mad? Thou didst attack my beauty and did think to get away with it? Foolish harpy! "

She presses her attack , beams of mystic power leap from her hands darting in and through the struggling Cylia.

Sha-kroww!

Cylia : "Arrgggghh!"

Page 16

Cut to the parking garage under Warhammer construction. Jerry Sapristi leaves his office after a long day. As he does every day he walks to his car. Today will be different for Jerry Sapristi, deadly different. A voice as cold as the Grave rivets his attention. It speaks in hoarse, hardly heard whispers.

Voice: " Old man. Where're you goin' in such a rush? You and me have to talk."

Jerry turns , angrily.

Jerry : "Who are you and what do you want? I ain't afraid a you . I took care a punks like you this morning.* I"ll take care a you too!"

* See last issues crazed battle between Jerry, Daredevil and Sigurd (Thor) Jarlson vs. The Enforcers.

Voice: "Good. I like when they fight back. You're a tough one Jerry. My names Lonnie."

Page 17

The figure steps from the shadows and suddenly Jerry Sapristi draws in a sharp breath.

Lonnie: "But you can call me "Tombstone".

And very suddenly and very assuredly , Jerry Sapristi DOES know fear.

Page 18

ZZZ-KOW!

Scene of Cylia being blasted away by the Enchantress

Amora: "Surrender or die beast, it matters not to the Enchantress. Either way will I have my victory!"

Cylia lays on the ground convulsing, as the Enchantress approaches. Suddenly her massive tail spins around, smashing the Enchantress from her feet and hurling her through the air like unto a broken toy!

Ba-KOW!

Cylia: "Ha! You are done little witch. Once more Cylia the deadly is victorious."

Page 19

The Enchantress struggles to her feet, their battle has taken them through Asgard itself, the crowd of Asgardians following them every step of the way, to the very edge of the rainbow bridge itself !

Amora: "N-nay foul smelling beast. This fight is not done, lest I say so!'

Energies crackling 'round her hands, the Enchantress throws herself at Cylia, as both fall off the rainbow bridge, clawing and screaming at each other, into the gaping maw betwixt worlds!

Suddenly everything moves in slow motion, as Thor hurls Mjolnir skyward, and then down after the plunging combatants!

Thor: "Reach fair Amora! Verily the Son of Odin hath come for thee and will not let thee perish! Reach woman, REACH!"

Page 20

Thor grabs her outstretched hand as she seeks to pull free of the evil Cylia, and with a mighty yank she is once more free!

Thor: "Now tis your turn daughter of Sothgarn. I will save thee as well."

Cylia: "NO! I do not need thy aid! Rather would I die a thousand deaths then admit defeat to the likes of your kind soft skin!"

With a twist she breaks free of Thors grasp to plunge through the realms towards infinity!

Thor Races upwards to the periphery of the bridge, the Enchantress in his arms.

Thor: "Like her father before her she plunged to her doom."*

*See issue 504

Amora: "Thou did come for me. E'en with all my past evil , thou did rescue me. That must mean that thou must...."

Thor : "Aye fair one Thor loves thee."

They kiss, Thor holding her close, breathing her scent, letting it fill him with her being.

Amora: "And I love thee."

Page 21:

Odin approaches and lays a hand on his sons arm.

Odin: "My son , still does all of Asgard have a dire situation . The fair Sif is missing still. We must make haste in finding her."

Thor: "Aye my father, and the God of Thunder knows where to look indeed. We must venture forth into LIMBO!"

Hey Ralph!

I loved this issue! It was great to see what Cyllia had been planning and

her plan is even more galling to have her protected by marriage vows! One

first rate tale! Ever time I see you write Daredevil, I can tell how much

you love the character and I can't wait to see him in his own book written

by you! Seeing the Frost Giant from Journey into Mystery was nice, and

having Amora be the one to convince him to leave was nice as well. I am

enjoying the way you are writting her a great deal! Anyway, this issue was

great and I can't wait until the next!

TJB

Glad you liked it TJ! Hope you like this one too!

Nice issue, Ralph. As usual, your characterizatons were solid -- nice to

see you managing to save the story after Scott dumped the Sif thing on

you. Liked the Steven Grant appearance -- are we really that close to

each in continuity? I had no idea. Maybe a larger crossover down the

road? Or at least further appearances by each character, as I'd like

Warhammer to continue the building of the new downtown offices.

Anyway, great issue!

Barry

Thanks Barry! I Hope you are all reading TJ's "Destroyer " and Barry's "Seekers" as well as Barry's "Moon Knight" They're all great !

Till next time!

----Ralph
