The Path of the Warrior!

Splash Page : Thor and Captain Marvel stand their ground as a veritable wave of gladiators approach them. On the lower most rung of the arena bleacher behind them one of the two alien brothers stands and screams

Alien 1 : "Freedom to the warriors who bring me the heads of the two known as Captain Marvel and Thor."

Thor : "Nay villain, 'twill not be that easy !"

BA-KOOM !

Thor pounds the ground with an incredible blow that sends a massive shockwave through the ground and sends the assembled gladiators flying

Genis : "Good shot big guy, let's keep up the pressure here."

Captain Marvel flies through a wave of the warriors, knocking half a dozen flying before they pull him down.

Thor pounds his way through the warriors with fists like steel cudgels, as Genis is heard from beneath the mountain of flesh holding him down.

Thor : "Fear not Captain ! Thor is here and will not let thee fall ! Fight on brave warrior !"

Genis : " Unnghh!"

A large scaled troll like creature lands on Thors back while a snake like being wraps himself around Thors legs. Between the two of them they topple the Thunder God.

Thor: " Nay foul ones, the son of Odin will not fall so easily."

Snake man : "Well Large one*hisssss* we will have to work harrrrderrrr then , won't we??*hiiiissss*"

Thor : "Well then perhaps you should begin that work NOW !"

Thor flexes his great muscles in a mighty heave, throwing the startled snake man off him as he turns the second gladiator attacks with a double sided axe!

Shwoom!

Thor leaps backwards, knocking over three more of the gladiators, as the axe wielder circles around for another attack.

Axe: "My freedom you buy hair gold man! Yes , kill you I do now. Freedom is this for!"

He slashes the axe at Thor again, but suddenly a blast of photonic energy disintegrates the axe in his hands, leaving only a burning handle

Shrak!

Axe : "GAAAHHH, My hands !"

Thor turns, looking in the direction the bolt came from, a smile already forming on his lips. There amidst several dozen unconscious warriors is the torn and tattered form of Captain Marvel

Genis : "Ya know, these guys are really starting to irritate me."

Thor : "Aye friend Genis, the very thoughts hath occurred to me as well."

Thor begins slamming through them, pile driver blow after pile driver blow clears the air around him, as Captain Marvel goes back to back with the thunderer, lashing out with powerful blows that scatter the remaining warriors.

Genis : "Ya know Thor, these guys ain't all their cracked up to be. I mean we're wading through them really. You think it's because of those restraining collars? Were we this lame brained when we wore them too?"

Thor : "Aye Captain, tis indeed possible. In truth I cannot see these warriors giving myself any hard time at all in battle. We doth cut them down like wheat afore the scythe."

Thor pounds a powerhouse right into a stumpy and wide gladiator whose massive arms seem much to large for his diminutive body, while Captain Marvel begins a deadly reign of controlled blows that cut through the forces, until finally...

Genis : "Their cuttin' and running Thor, we did it."

Thor : "Aye my friend, now tis time for the architects of this pit to pay the price for their sins."

Thor turns, but both brothers are gone. Flying over the edge of the stand and through the protective fencing around their seats, Genis sees an open hatch in the floor beneath their chairs.

Genis : "They had an escape route all along here Thor. We've gotta go after them, these guys can't get away with this anymore."

Thor vaults over the wall edge and lands with a thud next to Genis.

Thor : "Lead on brave warrior, these dogs shall feel the wrath of Thor for this indignity."

Genis flies through rough hewn corridors, enveloping Thor in his Photon trial exhaust, he carries The Thunder God behind him.

Thor : "Not much further. I believe I see light ahead, there !"

Genis : "Yeah big buddy, I see it too."

The heroes smash through the stone wall on the fly , just as a wall of flame erupts in front of them.

Genis : "Get behind me Thor, my nega bands will protect us from the exhaust."

Thor looks up as a huge rocket breaks free of the room they stand in, climbing quickly towards the sky.

Thor : "Hurry Captain, these two must be made to pay most dearly for their crimes!"

Genis : "Hang on then Thor."

Again Genis takes to the air, easily catching the rocket, but as they get near enough to board the craft.

Shoom!

The rocket booster drops away, revealing a sleek sharp nosed craft hidden inside the larger vehicle.

Genis : "Uh-oh, this don't look good."

Thor : "Get us closer my friend, then leave the rest to the God of Thunder."

Genis zips in closer, as Thor jumps from the protection of the photon field and onto the sleek craft, then looking directly into the eyes of the terrified aliens, Thor rams his hand into the solid steel and peels it aside like tissue paper. He steps through the opening, as Genis loops back around and follows him in.

Genis : "Nice shot there muscles McGirk. "

Thor : "Aye, and as the mortals would say, Thou hasn't seen anything yet."

The two heros tear their way through the ship, making their way to the small cramped bridge, until finally...

Ba-DOOMM!

Thor and Captain Marvel tear the doors off the entrance to the cabin as two terrified aliens look on.

Alien 2 : "W-wait my friends, we are all intelligent beings here, let us discuss matters rationally. No harm has to come to any of us ."

Genis : "Dude, the only harm here is going to be to your face. Your operation is officially out of business, thanks to the Thor/Captain Marvel demo squad."

Thor : "Aye evil ones , thy time as rulers of thy corrupt little world are over. Now tis time to pay for thy endeavor."

Thor and Genis approach menacingly as the two aliens literally shiver in their tracks.

Alien 2: "Please my friends, can we not discuss this as would intelligent and civilized species?"

Thor: "Intelligent and civilized are things that do not apply to slavers, villain."

Thor grabs the first alien and heaves him away out of the pilots chair, which Genis jumps into.

Genis : "I'll get this crate turned around and put us back on the ground."

Alien 2 : "N-no please, you cannot do this to us. The others will tear us to pieces. "

Thor : "Mayhap they will, but twould be thy just deserts. Now Tell me, (Thor gets nose to nose with the quivering Alien) how I didst come into thy tender care?"

Alien 2 : "We, my brother and I, were coming back from the pleasure world of Troblax 7

when we came upon a planetary debris field. But according to the star charts no planet had existed there. But n-nonetheless there w-was the remains of a small world. On it's outskirts we f-found YOU. Floating and unconscious. We removed you to our cargo hold a-and replaced your clothes with a gladiators garb and brought you planet side."

Thor: " Well where is my uniform proper now, cretin?"

Alien 2: " T-there Gardox err, Thor in that cabinet."

Alien 1 : "Freeze ! You dogs will not take us so easily !"

Marvel and Thor both spin simultaneously as the first alien waves a blaster pistol at Thor.

Alien 2: "Good my brother, I knew If I kept these chattle talking you would find the weapons cabinet."

Alien 1: "Shut up Heku, Tarnon knows I've put up with your incessant whining long enough and should just kill you as well as these two."

Heku: "Quartex, please, just kill them so we can begin again elsewhere."

Genis :"I can't believe this, I feel like I'm being held at gunpoint by The three stooges ."

Quartex : "Three ? There're only two of us."

Genis : "Yeah, but your stupid enough for three."

Instantly Genis fires a photon bolt that drops the gun wielding Quartex in his tracks

Thor turns to the shaking Heku

Thor : "Now, thou wert saying?"

Later.... Thor is once again in his proper uniform, as the two brothers are brought bound, back to the arena where their former captive warriors await. The warrior known as Kroven approaches

Kroven:" I thank you for my freedom Thor. You and your companion did us all a major boon by destroying their control device. Now they will pay."

He brings his reptilian face with lips dripping venom close to the two terrified brothers.

Thor : "Nay warrior Kroven, you owe us, you all owe us your very lives. In repayment I want thee to spare these foul vermin lives, but to make them pay for their indiscretions another way."

Kroven : "And that would be? "

Thor : "To make them serve Thee as repentance."

Kroven: "That has the ring of justice to it . Yes. I like the idea. It will be done."

He turns to the two trembling brothers and sneers at them.

Kroven : "You two scum will serve as our footstools, our cleaning men and our very entertainment for one year per warrior here. And need I remind you there are hundreds of us here."

Thor and Captain Marvel leave the crying brothers and look skyward.

Genis : "You ready?"

Thor : "Aye, art thou sure thou can get us back?"

Genis : "Yeah, I am."

Captain Marvel leaps skyward, Thor caught in his photon trail , the two make for the negative zone space above the planet. Once above the planets atmosphere and into the Neg-zone breathable space Genis has Thor grab his shoulder as he slams his Nega bands together. Instantly both disappear in a flash of light !

The Shi'ar Starcruiser T'KAU sits in Earth orbit as a visitor teleports aboard.

K'Ruuk: "Welcome aboard Captain America. Come right this way."

Cap A : "Thank you Captain K'Ruuk."

Both men walk down several corridors and drop several flights on zoom lifts until appearing at an entrance to a cargo bay.

Cap A: "It's in here ?"

K'Ruuk: "Yes , are you sure you can lift it?"

Cap A: "Relatively, we'll see."

The door slides open and Cap is surprised to see the Shi'ar Imperial Guardsmen Gladiator dripping in sweat, straining with all his prodigious might to lift Mjolnir.

CapA: "Mind if I have a try soldier?"

Gladiator looks at Cap incredulously.

Gladiator : "YOU? You would try to lift what the mighty Gladiator cannot even begin to? Try then Captain, but do not hurt yourself."

Cap walks over to Mjolnir, bends over, grasps its handle, then looks at Gladiator and smiles slightly as he lifts it effortlessly off the deck.

Gladiator : "YOU ? What-Wha , I -I do not, I ----"

CapA : "Sorry Mister. Like the inscription says you have to be worthy. I'm not saying I am, but someone must think so."

Gladiator stands, his jaw dropping as Captain America and Captain K'Ruuk exit the cargo bay and walk to the transporter room.

CapA: "I thank you for your help in returning Thors hammer to us Captain."

K'Ruuk : "Would that we could've brought the man back as well."

CapA: "Don't count him out Captain, he's surprised us all many times in the past, I'm sure he'll pull through this as well. If I don't hear from him within a day, I'll gather a team and enter the Negative zone myself looking for him."

K'Ruuk : "Well call on us if you need transportation there. The galaxy owes him this time, and in a very big way."

The men shake hands and Captain America disappears in a flash of transporter energy , to reappear in front of Avengers mansion. He turns and walks inside.

A moment later a trail of sparkling photons enters the air above the Mansion as two heroes drop to the ground.

Thor: "Art thou sure thou wouldst not like to serve as an Avenger friend Genis? Thy father was one of us and thou art serving his memory proudly. In truth thou art his Legacy."

Genis : "No Thor, maybe at another time, but now I have things to do and people to see. I think I need some more training in hand to hand combat. I have all the implanted memories, but I need more practical experience, and I think the man known as Iron Fist can help me there."

Thor : "Then good tidings to you my friend ! You are a great warrior, as well as a trusted ally!"

Thor waves as Genis disappears over the rooftops of Manhattan. With a deep breath of the New York air Thor turns and walks into Avengers Mansion.
