A name is a representation of a person..it is a reflexion of how you want to be known by other..question is..what is in a name..for as they say you cant judge a book by its cover should what ones name truly matter?
To an extent i really believe it should..although the person behind the name is what is important as well. For example if one had the name of "Master_Fucks_Alot" sure the person behind the name can be a wonderful person whom is genuine, sincere and a person whom can be relied upon and respected..then again he could be nothing more then a poser, fake and a troll looking for a cyber encounter with no knowlege what-so-ever of the essence of BDSM.. on initial encounter however one may be a little intimidated by such a name...but does the name cause a person to be disrespectful?...that is one thing that should always remain no matter what is the respect to show a person..sure there is a debate on whether one should initially be given respect then up to the person whether they deserve that respect or not..or many feel respect should be earned..in time..i would have to agree with the former..for if you dont initially show some form of respect what do you show but a biased opinion based on initial characteristics rather then internal.
Interesting enough there is a debate on the issue of collars as names...this shouldnt be an issue to begin with for after all is it not the Master/Mistress choice of what name to bestow on the sub/slave? The representation of a collar can be taken in many ways... the classic IRC method of a collaring would be as follows..the name and the initials of the Master/Mistress in brackets at the end of the name..this is common of Gorean IRC Chat channles...example leorah{AJS} would be leorah ko-lared to AJS...in chat realms such as yahoo...there is two ways of representations..the Masters name or initials can be in the front or the Masters/Mistress initials can be behind...
forexample AJS_light would represent one who is fully collared to that Master..common in the BDSM rooms..however the issue is raised with the intials behind the name..forexample light_AJS can have three representations..and they are 1) Gorean ko-lar of a slave 2)a protector, mentor teacher of a sub or 3)a training collar given by a Master. then again..should this truly matter..for the name tells who the sub/slave belongs to..just curious as to does it truly matter how the name is shown..as long as there is an agreement of what the Master/Mistress and sub/slave have togethere..why should others debate over something as petty as name placement..
To conclude..should a name truly matter in the chat realm? if anyone has any opinions, ideas, that they would like to share on this topic..please write to [email protected]
