Basics of Chat Rooms for Yahoo

This is just a general guideline for yahoo chat rooms. It will help to answer some questions as to the meaning of the purpose, significance and why. This is not written in stone nor is it practice by A/all but it is something that frequently causes confusion.

Greetings and Introductions

Upon entering a room, some rooms require subs/slaves to ask permission to enter. Permission would be granted by a Master or Mistress within the room. This is not the case for the bondage ago go rooms. The ago gos are a free and open room for A/all and do not require permission. Some Gorean rooms do not require one to ask permission however for those who have never been to one, it would be wise to ask permission to observe the room for in Gor idleness of a slave is displeasing.

A general greeting for a sub/slave is: greetings A/all bows to the W/worthy. For Dom/mes it would be simply: Greetings A/all

Although this is commonly used there are many other ways to greet. Some use entire paragraphs to express themselves entering the room making it a personal and individual greeting.
Usually the order of greetings goes as follows, which is a must in Gor
Masters, Mistress (Free Persons), subs, slaves
then it would be greet A/all whom enter after initial entry.

Although this one doesnt agree with the policy but many times with names that are unfamiliar a normal hello, or hiya, or hey there, which are legitimate greetings will sometimes go unanswered.

Use of Certain Styles

Many times Y/you would notice the use of double letters as in the case used by this one. This serves as a special purpose to honor both the Dom/mes and the sub/slave. The Dom/mes is honored with the capital letter and the sub/slave is honored with the lower case. The reason for such a style is because although there is indeed a difference in the Dom/mes and the sub/slaves, together they form a union of O/one, it is a special bond in which together they are complete. So to honor them both, the capital and lowercase is used.
This can be shown in the words: A/all, Y/you, W/we, U/us, O/our, W/worthy, T/thee (old English)
A note about Gor, although many use this style as well, some Goreans find it offensive, for a Master should never be put into the same class as a slave. They are separate there for should be acknowledge separately.

Serving

On Gor serving is a must for idleness is displeasing in a slave.(read the section on serving) This would be done by respectfully asking a particular Master or Mistress if you may serve them. They will acknowledge whether you may or not.
In the ago gos many times subs/slaves usually ask in general if they may serve any Master or Mistress. This one doesnt agree with that, for it can lead to a hint of a "troll". Usually one will ask a particular Master or Mistress respectfully. It is then up to them to decide. It is important to note if the Master has a collared sub or not, for in the ago gos usually Masters or Mistress will only allow their own to serve them.

How to Find out if One is collared or not.

A collared sub usually has one of the following

1.a name before there name separated by a sub line ex. AJSpans_light. The Master is AJSpan the sub is light
2.initials or name after the name ex. light_AJ or light_AJSpan
3. or it says in the profile the Master or Mistress they serve but are not yet collared nor wear the name.
A Master or Mistress on the other hand one really cant tell at a first glance. It is wise to check profile to see if they have one. Or scan the room list to see if there is a sub/slave with the same name or initials. Respectfully and politely asking is another way.
Gor on the other hand is different. A Master or Mistress no matter if they have a collared slave or not can be served by any slave. It is a matter of there preference.

Farewells and Exits

When exiting the polite thing to say is be well A/all. One should never just exit a room. Although frequently there are boots and "invitanappes"(those incidents where you get thrown into another room because of an invite) these are understandable but just leaving is in a sense rude.

A suggested farewell would be:

be well A/all

On Gor, for a slave, it would be best to say

this one wishes You well.

the reason is because a slave never tells a Master or Mistress what to do. Telling one to "be" well is in a sense telling them what to do. So a normal farewell is to say wishes you well, after permission to leave is granted.

On Gor, a slave, should always ask permission to leave. Even if you are going to be idle for a few minutes it is best to tell them that you are AFK(away from keyboard)

Once permission is granted then one could leave. But always ask no matter how long it takes to have it granted. If it is an emergency then beg for permission to leave and state that it is indeed an emergency.
