Group X: Right on Target Group X solos
“Right on Target”

(Front cover. We see Starshot and Bullseye trading punches and kicks.)

Cap (N): Starshot vs. Bullseye!

(Page 1, panel 1. The office of the Kingpin in New York. We see him talking to Bullseye. The Kingpin is wearing a white suit and tie, while Bullseye is in his uniform.)

Cap (N1): New York City.
Cap (N2): Right now, the Kingpin is assigning a task to an assassin he’s used before...
Kingpin: I’ve been having a lot of trouble with these people, Bullseye. I’ve chosen to send my top agents to Texas to get rid of them.

(Panel 2. Bullseye smiles.)

Bullseye: Where there’s cash to be made from murder, I’ll be there.
Kingpin: Do not take this assignment lightly, Bullseye. These are top-trained people.

(Panel 3. The Kingpin hands Bullseye a picture of Starshot.)

Kingpin: This is your assignment, her name is Starshot... go to Fort Worth and kill her.

(Panel 4. Bullseye exits.)

Cap (N1): And as Bullseye leaves, he forgets one thing.
Cap (N2): Fort Worth is a big city.

(Page 2, panel 1. Group X headquarters, Fort Worth. We see Starshot and Bakerman lying next to each other in bed. The two have their arms around each other, and are sleeping.)

Cap (N1): The next morning, in Fort Worth.
Cap (N2): The woman known as Starshot greets a new day with her lover, Bakerman...

(Panel 2. Waking up, the two of them kiss.)

Cap (N1): It’s what both of them wanted ever since they found out they were mutants.
Cap (N2): Love.
Cap (N3): Someone to share the chaos and confusion.
Cap (N4): Someone to be there through the good times and bad.

(Panel 3. The two of them part.)

Bakerman: Good morning to you too, darling.
Starshot: Aye... It’s always good t’do this in the morning...

(Panel 4. Bakerman smiles as they sit up.)

Bakerman: And in the afternoon, evening, and night...
Starshot: Och, you’re insatiable.

(Panel 5. the two of them stand showing him in shorts and her in a sexy nightgown.)

Bakerman: You can have the shower first.
Starshot: Thanks, love.

(Page 3, panel 1. A private plane hangar in New York. We see a mechanic filling the plane with jet fuel.)

Cap (N1): “Fill the plane up, we’re going to L.A. for some business.” His boss said.
Cap (N2): Little did either one of them know what that would get them...

(Panel 2. Suddenly a pipe comes from nowhere, flying to the mechanic. Panel 3. The pipe strikes the mechanic in the back of the head, causing blood to spill everywhere and the mechanic to fall dead.)

SFX: POW!!!

(Panel 4. Enter Bullseye, who takes looks it over.)

Cap (Be1): Simple, clean, efficient.
Cap (Be2): That’s the way to do this.

(Page 4, panel 1. Bullseye takes several weapons in a case onto the plane.)

Cap (Be): Fort Worth, here I come.

(Panel 2. Go back to see Starshot and Bakerman getting ready for the day. She is applying makeup in a mirror; he is in the bathroom shaving.)

Cap (N): And back in Fort Worth...
SFX: Whirr...

(Panel 3. Bakerman finishes shaving as Starshot finishes her makeup.)

Starshot: Finally...
Bakerman: Ah, nesicito sufrir mucho para ser bonita.

(Panel 4. Starshot faces Bakerman.)

Starshot: And what does that mean?
Bakerman: You have to suffer to be beautiful.

(Panel 5. Bakerman puts on aftershave as Starshot stands.)

Starshot: Aye... thinking about how far we’ve come over the short time we’ve been in love... It amazes me how fast I’ve gone in such a short time.
Bakerman: Well, once you’re reached a certain level, to go beyond that you need to have love, and show others the pathway... that’s what we’ve been doing with each other.

(Page 6, panel 1. Starshot parts with Bakerman.)

Starshot: But I’d like to be on me own today.
Bakerman: I understand, Sara. After all, part of a healthy relationship is having interests separate from your lover, and not be the same as your lover.

(Panel 2. Starshot goes off.)

Starshot: Ye’ve been very nice t’me, love...

(Panel 3. Starshot exits.)

Cap (Bk1): There goes my heart.

(Panel 4. Go back to Bullseye. We see him arriving in Fort Worth to about 5 armed security guards.)

Guard: We have you surrounded. Come out with your hands up!

(Page 7, panel 1. Bullseye throws open the door and starts firing two m-16 machine guns. Many of the guards are mowed down like grass.)

Bullseye: I’ll come out... all right.
SFX: Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!

(Panel 2. We see the guards all with bullet wounds, bleeding and dying.)

Cap (Be1): Turkey shoot.
Cap (Be2): Now to find my quarry...

(Panel 3. Go back to Starshot. We see her walking down the street.)

Cap (S1): I donna know what it is about today.
Cap (S2): Something feels wrong.
Cap (S3): I just wish I knew what it was...

(Panel 4. Starshot stops in front of a window.)

Cap (S1): I get the feeling that no matter how hard I try,
Cap (S2): I’m going to find meself in something bad.

(Page 8, pane1 1. Bullseye tries to jump Starshot, but is greeted by her fist in his face.)

SFX: POW!!!

(Panel 2. Bullseye reels while Starshot nurses her hand.)

Cap (S): What does he have in his skull, concrete?
Starshot: Who are ye and what do ye want?

(Panel 3. Bullseye stands as Starshot pulls out her knife.)

Bullseye: The name’s Bullseye... and I’m an artist.... I paint with blood and guts.

(Panel 4. The two of them approach each other, ready to attack.)

Starshot: So why me?
Bullseye: I never ask why.... as long as they pay for it.

(Panel 5. Group X headquarters. We see Mirror working on the teleporters. Lotus is with him.)

Lotus: What’s up, Quinton?
Mirror: Oh, just some routine maintenance, Lecita... That darned entropy thing is affecting our systems.

(Panel 6. Lotus smiles slightly.)

Lotus: True... but if entropy didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be here.

(Page 9, panel 1. Go back to Starshot and Bullseye. Bullseye has forced Starshot into an alley.)

Starshot: I’m not without me outs here.... computer, teleport now.
Computer: Unable to comply. Teleporters are off line for maintenance.

(Panel 2. Bullseye smiles sinisterly.)

Bullseye: Don’t be running off, Starshot... after all, you wouldn’t want to keep a master from his work...
Starshot: Bloody hell!

(Panel 3. Bullseye dives at Starshot, who narrowly avoids getting hit.)

Starshot: Computer, teleport me when you get the bloody thing fixed!
Computer: Request noted.

(Panel 4. Starshot connects with a foot to Bullseye’s stomach.)

SFX: WHACK!!

(Page 10, panel 1. Bullseye slashes Starshot’s arm with a knife.)

SFX: SLASH!!
Starshot: Och!!

(Panel 2. Bullseye and Starshot go toe-to-toe.)

Bullseye: Give it up, woman.... I never miss.
Starshot: Neither do I.

(Panel 3. Starshot slashes Bullseye’s stomach.)

SFX: SLASH!!

(Panel 4. Bullseye counters with a foot to the stomach.)

SFX: POW!!

(Page 11, panel 1. Go over to Mirror. We see him come out from under the console, holding a bad circuit board.)

Cap (N): At the same time....
Mirror: Here’s the bad egg. I’ve got to get to the store to get a new one.

(Panel 2. Mirror stands.)

Mirror: Computer, status on teleporter lockout.
Computer: There has been no change.

(Panel 3. Mirror heads out.)

Mirror: Let’s hope it stays that way.

(Panel 4. Go back to Starshot and Bullseye. Bullseye, holding Starshot’s left arm, breaks it with a chop.)

Cap (N): And back with these two....
SFX: CRACK!!!
Starshot: AH!

(Panel 5. Starshot manages to slice one of Bullseye’s Achilles tendons, sending Bullseye down.)

SFX: SLICE!!
Bullseye: AH!!!

(Page 12, panel 1. An electronics store. Mirror is there, walking to the computer section.)

Cap (N1): Minutes later.
Cap (N2): Mirror arrives at the electronics store.

(Panel 2. He comes to a bunch of circuit boards, panels, and the like.)

Mirror: Now, where are the KMX-322-J-14 boards?

(Panel 3. Fatale suddenly teleports in, and fires a gun. She has several weapons with her. The bullet bounces off Mirror.)

Fatale: DIE!!!
SFX: BANG!!
Mirror: Oh great.

(Panel 4. Fatale teleports behind Mirror.)

Mirror: I don’t have time for this, Fatale. You can’t possibly kill me.

(Panel 5. Fatale strikes Mirror with a knife, which breaks on his skin.)

Fatale: Hey!!
Mirror: You’re becoming like an annoying fly, Fatale.

(Panel 6. Fatale teleports out.)

Mirror: And stay away.

(Page 13, panel 1. Fatale teleports behind Mirror, and kicks him. He doesn’t move; she goes down.)

SFX: WHACK!!

(Panel 2. Fatale nurses her leg.)

Fatale: AH!!
Mirror: That’s it. I’ve had enough of you.

(Panel 3. Mirror picks up Fatale with one hand.)

Mirror: Who sent you?
Fatale: Go to hell, pig!

(Panel 4. Mirror throws Fatale towards a wall, but she teleports out before striking it.)

Mirror: Don’t come back if you know what’s good for you.

(Panel 5. Mirror turns to the circuitry.)

Mirror: Now, where was I....?

(Page 14, panel 1. We see Mirror outside the place, and going to his car.)

Cap (M1): Once, just once, I’d like to go somewhere and not get harassed by someone.

(Panel 2. Fatale teleports in, striking Mirror with a lead pipe. The pipe bends, and Mirror gets annoyed.)

SFX: KRENG!!
Mirror: You just don’t get it, do you? You can’t hurt me, Fatale. Frankly, I’m getting sick of this.

(Panel 3. Fatale teleports out.)

Cap (M1): o.k., I’m going to need a little help on this one.
Cap (M2): Tell me where she’s most likely to teleport into next.

(Panel 4. Mirror spins around, and connects with a blow to the jaw of Fatale as she teleports in.)

SFX: POW!!
Fatale: UHN!!

(Panel 5. Mirror connects with a foot to the stomach of a stunned Fatale.)

Mirror: This has gone beyond annoying now.
SFX: WHOK!

(Panel 6. Mirror knocks Fatale to the ground.)

SFX: WHAM!!
Mirror: Now I have to divert to jail to drop you off.

(Page 15, panel 1. Both combatants are now broken and bleeding.)

Cap (S1): We’re too evenly matched.
Cap (S2): Neither one of us ever misses.
Cap (S3): Both of us are good fighters.
Cap (S4): I’m turning to you, Divine One.

(Panel 2. The two of them uneasily stand, partially.)

Cap (S1): I need help.
Cap (S2): There’s got to be a way for me to defeat him.
Cap (S3): He has to have some weak spot...
Cap (S4): I would like to know what it is.
Cap (S5): So that I can help you in your Divine Plan.

(Panel 3. Bullseye grimaces at Starshot.)

Cap (Be1): The dame’s good.
Cap (Be2): Too good.
Cap (Be3): There’s got to be some weakness I can exploit.
Cap (Be4): But what is it?

(Panel 4. Starshot staggers away from Bullseye.)

Bullseye: Don’t leave the party so soon... I’m just getting warmed up.

(Page 16, panel 1. Starshot spots a bucket of green paint next to a bucket of red paint.)

Cap (S1): Do what???
Cap (S2): I hope ye know what yuir doing....

(Panel 2. Starshot pushes Bullseye away from her.)

Starshot: I’ll make ye a deal.
Bullseye: What’s your game?

(Panel 3. Starshot paints a green target on a wall with the brush.)

Starshot: I’ll paint two targets... if you can hit the red one dead center, I’ll let ye kill me, no resistance. If you fail, you’ve got to let me go.
Cap (Be): Sucker.
Bullseye: You’re on.

(Panel 4. Starshot paints the red target with a paintbrush.)

Starshot: Almost done...

(Panel 5. Starshot stands back, next to Bullseye.)

Starshot: Take your shot.
Cap (N1): Guidance told her he has trouble with red and green.
Cap (N2): But he doesn’t know that.

(Page 17, panel 1. Bullseye gets nervous.)

Starshot: We’re not in a rush here... we’ve got all day...

(Panel 2. Bullseye fires his gun, hitting the green target dead center.)

Starshot: Ooh... bad choice.

(Panel 3. Bullseye turns.)

Bullseye: Yea... I guess I lost...

(Panel 4. Bullseye suddenly turns around, and throws a shuriken.)

Bullseye: I hate losing.

(Panel 5. Dodging the shuriken, Starshot connects with the dagger to Bullseye’s face in a diving move.)

SFX: SLASH!!!

(Page 18, panel 1. Bullseye holds his bloody face.)

Bullseye: You... you /*$&#@!!!
Starshot: When ye toss the rules out, so do I.

(Panel 2. Enter the police, who throw tear gas.)

Policeman: Take no chances! Use the tear gas on these two!
Starshot: Uh-oh!

(Panel 3. Starshot teleports out as Bullseye gets a lung full of tear gas.)

Cap (N1): The emergency teleporter finally kicked in.
Cap (N2): And not a moment too soon.
Bullseye: I’ll get you, @#%&*!! *COUGH*!

(Panel 4. Group X headquarters. Starshot stumbles into the infirmary, weak and bloody. Sonnos is there.)

Sonnos: ¡Santa Maria! ¿Qué pasa?
Starshot: A... little... trouble...

(Panel 5. Starshot passes out, falling on the floor.)

Bakerman (From off panel): SARA!!!

(Page 19, panel 1. Starshot lies on a bed, surrounded by a greenish light. Sonnos, Bakerman, Lotus, Walking Eagle, and Mindpath stand nearby.)

Bakerman: What happened to her?
Sonnos: Quite a lot, amigo. She had her left arm broken in two places; numerous cuts and bruises, a punctured lung, which was filling up with fluid; and she’s had her little toe on her right foot amputated. She lost a lot of blood, but I’ve managed to stabilize her... for the moment. Unfortunately her wounds are so numerous that sonic healing would kill her. She’s going to take about 3 days before I can initiate sonic healing.

(Panel 2. Sonnos continues.)

Sonnos: Her body will take time to heal, but it’s her mind I’m more worried about. Her brain wave activity is very weak.
Bakerman: This sounds like something I should see to.

(Panel 3. Bakerman approaches Starshot. Starshot has numerous bandages on her, and wears a hospital gown.)

Bakerman: Sara, I know we’ve been together for such a short time... but you’ve done something no other woman has done... you’ve really touched my heart, and made me feel wonderful... isn’t that worth keeping? Isn’t love worth having? You should come back, Sara... we need you now.

(Panel 4. Bakerman turns.)

Bakerman: She’s coming back... she just needs time to heal her body... she had a lot of internal injuries.

(Page 20, panel 1. Bakerman exits to see Lotus there.)

Lotus: How is she?
Bakerman: She’ll be back... it’s just going to take time.

(Panel 2. They continue to talk.)

Lotus: Want to talk about it?
Bakerman: Ah, yes... let’s step into the briefing room.

(Panel 3. The two of them sit in the briefing room.)

Bakerman It doesn’t seem like only two months we’ve been in love.... I can’t speak for Sara, but I’ve been so enraptured by her, it’s like we’ve been together all our lives... but I have to wonder if I’m going too far too fast.
Lotus: Has she given you any indications she wants to slow down?

(Panel 4. Bakerman thinks.)

Bakerman: Not really... but I have to wonder if this is some sort of divine sign for the two of us to slow down.
Lotus: I’d have to say no on that, Chris. The Divine One gets his power from the love everyone shares. The stronger love is, the more powerful it is. You and Sara have been just like David and I were in the first year or so of our love...

(Panel 5. Bakerman stares into Lotus’ eyes.)

Bakerman: But we’ve still got a long way to go before we can be like you and David are.
Lotus: You’re a lot closer than you think, Chris.

(Panel 6. They continue to talk.)

Lotus: You and Sara are a failsafe - in case something happens to David and myself, you and Sara will fill the role of us. You and Sara will lead Group X. You and Sara will be the hope for peace in this area for the future.
Bakerman: That’s a responsibility I’m not too sure I can handle.

(Page 21, panel 1. Lotus smiles.)

Lotus: I can’t either - alone. But together with David and the team, I can. It is the same way for you and Sara.
Bakerman: I feel better already.

(Panel 2. Three days later. We see Sonnos sonically heal Starshot. Bakerman is nearby.)

Cap (N): And three days later...
SFX: Hmmm...
Starshot: UHN!

(Panel 3. Sonnos stops the sound as Starshot wakens.)

Bakerman: Welcome back, Sara. It’s good to see you again...
Starshot: Aye...

(Panel 4 Starshot sits up.)

Starshot: I’ve missed ye, love.
Bakerman: So have I, Sara. Now that you’re back, I never want to let you go again.

(Panel 5. Starshot stands, and puts her arms around Bakerman.)

Starshot: I wouldna leave ye for money or gold.

(Panel 6. The two kiss.)

Voice (from off panel): Blast!

(Page 22, panel 1. Pull back to see the Kingpin watching the two of them kiss on a monitor.)

Cap (K1): Bullseye has failed me, just like the other assassins.
Cap (K2): There’s something more than meets the eye here. Bullseye is the best, he should not have failed.

(Panel 2. The Kingpin pushes a button.)

Kingpin: Personal log update: Bullseye was unsuccessful in killing Starshot. He will be punished in due time... however, this still leaves me with the problem of Group X... They have been interfering in my Texas holdings... several attempts to teach them lessons have failed. There can be only one recourse... getting together a team of my own to send to them. A very large team.

(Panel 3. Go back to see Starshot and Bakerman part.)

Bakerman: I feel like celebrating. Let’s go out for dinner.
Starshot: Aye... and then, we’re going t’have something wonderful tonight.

(Panel 4. They go off with an arm around each other.)

Cap (N): To be continued...
