(front cover. We see J2 bashing the heads of two criminals together, while opposite him, Spider-Girl covers another with webbing.)
Cap (N): Spider-Girl and J2... Together at last!
(Page 1, panel 1. High school. We see Zane Yama talking to Montana.)
Montana: Man, can you believe this? Old man Koenigsberg gave us a heap of homework right before the dance!
Zane: Yea... I wish I had a reason to go...
(Panel 2. Montana walks away.)
Montana: I’m sure someone will be there for you, Zane.
Cap (J1): It’s not the loneliness that gets me.
Cap (J2): It’s knowing there’s several women out there who need a boyfriend, and they don’t want me...
(Panel 3. We see Zane enter a classroom.)
Cap (J): Well, time for Ms. Cringley’s Economics course.
(Panel 4. Zane sits in his seat.)
Cap (N1): A rather uneventful day in the life of Zane Yama.
Cap (N2): Nearby, someone else is having similar troubles...
(Page 2, panel 1. We see May Parker and Courtney walking down a hallway. Moose and Jimmy are talking.)
Moose: I’m tellin’ ya, I saw her go into a bathroom, then out came Spider-Girl! I know who Spider-Girl is!
Cap (M): WHAT!?!?!?
(Panel 2. Jimmy scoffs at Moose.)
Jimmy: Get real, Moose. There’s no way Courtney could be Spider-Girl. I’d sooner believe my aunt Sashi was Spider-Girl.
Coutney: Me? Spider-Girl?
(Panel 3. Moose faces Courtney.)
Moose: So you admit it?
Courtney: I’m not Spider-Girl!
Cap (M): You tell them, Courtney!
Jimmy: I’d sooner believe May was Spider-Girl.
(Panel 4. Moose rolls his eyes.)
Moose: Mayday Parker Spider-Girl? Give me a break!
Courtney: Yea, it does sound pretty farfetched.
Cap (M): Hoo-boy.
(Page 3, panel 1. The streets. We see May Parker walking home from school.)
Cap (N): And after class has dismissed for the day....
Cap (M): Man, look at all this homework.
(Panel 2. May continues to walk home.)
Cap (M): Two chapters in history, one chapter in Biology, one in economics, and 50 problems in trigonometry... I wonder if these teachers get together to pile homework on us all at once?
(Panel 3. May sighs.)
Cap (M): And then there’s the training I’m supposed to do...
May: Sigh...
(Panel 4. May arrives at home, to be met by a note on the door.)
Cap (M1): (reading) Dearest May, I had a problem arise at work, and I had to leave. Dinner is in the fridge. Love, Mom.
Cap (M2): Right, like I have time for dinner...
(Page 4, panel 1. Go back to Zane. We see him in his home, studying a history book.)
Cap (J1): Man, this is terrible.
Cap (J2): I wonder if someone like Spider-Girl has to do stuff like this?
Cap (J3): Yea, right.
(Panel 2. Split panel to show May reading a history book as well.)
Cap (J) I’ll bet Spider-Girl has an easy time with this.
Cap (M): I’ll bet J2 doesn’t have to worry about history homework.
(Panel 3. A warehouse. We see men loading boxes from a truck onto a forklift.)
Cap (N1): And across town,
Cap (N2): These events seem unrelated now,
Cap (N3): But they will relate to our heroes meeting soon.
(Panel 4. A man drops one of the boxes.)
SFX: Whump.
Worker: Watch it! You’re gonna get us all killed!
(Page 5, panel 1. The next morning. We see May Parker sleeping at her desk at home, with an open trigonometry book in front of her.)
Voice (from off panel): May, wake up... you’re going to be late if you don’t get a move on.
May: Zzzzz....
(Panel 2. Mary Jane Parker enters, wearing a woman’s business suit.)
Mary Jane: May? Come on, you need to wake up now.
(Panel 3. MJ shakes May.)
May: *SNORKT!* Wha...? Mom?
Mary Jane: Come on, May. Time to get ready for school.
Cap (M): Aw, maaan....
(Panel 4. May stands up.)
Mary Jane: Breakfast is ready for you now... just relax, and get ready for school.
May: Uh... right, mom.
Cap (M1): Like I can relax.
Cap (M2): I got 50 Trigonometry problems due today, and only 33 of them done.
(Page 6, panel 1. Go to Zane. We see him combing his hair in a mirror.)
Cap (N): Elsewhere, someone else finds himself in a similar situation...
Cap (J1): Man, I didn’t get all that reading done.
Cap (J2): I’m never going to pass that history test.
(Panel 2. We see May Parker running out the door, book bag in hand.)
Cap (M) Man, I’m going to be late for first period.
Cap (N): She’s going to be later than she thinks...
(Panel 3. Go to a vacant lot. We see about 3-4 teens there, looking at an open crate. The crate is about 3’ cubed.)
Teen1: Man, look at this!
Teen2: I don’t know, guns are supposed to be dangerous...
(Panel 4. Teen 1 picks up one of the guns, a Saturday night special.)
Teen1: Ah, as long as you’re careful, guns are safe...
(Page 7, panel 1. Teen1 continues to pay with the gun.)
Teen1: Bang! Now we’ve got you, Mr. Bad Guy!
Voice: (From off panel) Step away from my guns.
(Panel 2. Teen1 drops the gun, and turns to see Mr. Tambo there, with about 3-4 thugs accompanying him.)
Tambo: You’ve touched my guns. Now you’ve got to die.
Teen1: I... I didn’t know they were your guns. I’m sorry.
(Panel 3. Tambo pulls out a .44 magnum.)
Tambo: No excuses, kid.
(Panel 4. May Parker sees the situation, and her spider-sense goes off.)
Cap (M1): Ohmigod! Eric!
Cap (M2): Why couldn’t this have happened on Saturday?
(Panel 5. May ducks into an alley, and pulls her blouse off to show her Spider-Girl costume.)
Cap (M): Looks like Spider-Girl is needed.
(Page 8, panel 1. We see her now in her Spider-Girl costume, running to the scene.)
Cap (M): I just had to inherit my father’s luck, didn’t I?
(Panel 2. From another direction, we see Zane approaching the same scene.)
Cap (J1): Aw, Maaan!
Cap (J2): I’m going to be late for class again!
(Panel 3. Zane goes into an alley, and transforms into J2.)
Cap (J): Time to take out the trash.
(Panel 4. Mr. Tambo cocks the trigger on his gun.)
Tambo: You don’t get any last requests.
Voice: I got one... hold that pose.
(Panel 5. Spider-Girl stops up the gun with her webbing.)
Tambo: What the --!?
Spider-Girl: Just another crime stopped by your friendly neighborhood Spider-Girl!
(Panel 6. The teens flee as Mr. Tambo gets mad.)
Tambo: What are you waiting for? Shoot her!!
(Page 9, panel 1. The thugs open fire with machine guns, and Spider-Girl dodges the bullets.)
J2: (from off panel) Hey, it’s not nice to play with guns.
SFX: BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
(Panel 2. J2 enters, and some of the thugs fire on him. The bullets bounce off him.)
J2: Shooting me is just making me more angry.
Cap (M): J2?
SFX: BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
(Panel 3. J2 bashes the heads of two of the thugs together.)
J2: And I’m already upset as it is!
SFX: WHAM!!! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!
(Panel 4. The two thugs J2 hit go down as Mr. Tambo pulls out a grenade. We also see Spider-Girl wrap one of the thugs up with webbing.)
Tambo: Don’t think this is over. The war has yet to begin.
SFX: BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Thwipp!
(Page 10, panel 1. Tambo throws the grenade, which blows out a gas. )
Tambo: Go to sleep, kids... Mr. Tambo will be back!
(Panel 2. Tambo and the thug grab the crate as the gas envelops J2. Spider-Girl jumps up and out of the way to avoid the gas.)
Cap (J): Man, as if my day couldn’t get worse....
(Panel 3. J2 walks out of the gas to see Spider-Girl there.)
J2: *Cough!* *Hack!*
Cap (M): Wow, it really is him!
(Panel 4. J2 turns to see Spider-Girl there.)
J2:Spider-Girl? You helped out...?
Spider-Girl: Yea... thanks for the help....
(Panel 5. The two approach each other as the gas dissipates.)
J2: You realize to bring him to justice, we’re going to have to team up.
Spider-Girl: Yea, I know... look, I have to go, but meet me here after 4, all right?
(Panel 6. Spider-Girl swings out on a webline.)
Cap (J1): Look at her.
Cap (J2): What does she look like under that mask?
Cap (M): I hated brushing him off like that, but I’m late to class as it is.
(Page 11, panel 1. Go back to Mr. Tambo. We see him riding off in a car, checking over the crate.)
Tambo: If any of it’s missing, it’s going to be your head on a platter!
(Panel 2. Math class. We see May Parker trying her best to stay awake, but having trouble.)
Cap (M1): Man, who came up with Trigonometry?
Cap (M2): This stuff is about as exciting as watching grass grow.
Teacher: So Ms. Parker, what is the answer to question #34?
(Panel 2. May panics.)
Cap (M1): Uh-oh.
Cap (M2): I didn’t get to that question.
(Panel 3. The teacher approaches May.)
Teacher: Ms. Parker, are you listening to me?
May: Yea... I... wasn’t able to get to that question last night.
(Panel 4. The teacher scoffs at May.)
Teacher: Well, looks like someone here wants to put partying and having fun over academics. You will stay after school with an additional assignment, Ms. Parker.
Cap (M1): Maaan....
Cap (M2): As if I didn’t have enough troubles in my life...
(Page 12, panel 1. Go back to Zane. We see him talking to Montana.)
Montana: Yea, Talia’s got it bad for J2... like someone like that would be interested in her.
Cap (J): But I am interested in her!
Zane: You never can tell....
(Panel 2. The two of them walk to class.)
Montana: So who’s she going with to the dance?
Zane: Beats me. Miller thinks he’s going to the dance with her. She blew him off, but then again, Miller wouldn’t take no for an answer.
(Panel 3. The two of them continue to walk down the hallway.)
Montana: Yea, Miller tried to force himself on me... took three teachers to pull him away, too....
Cap (J): I really feel like beating on something.
(Panel 4. A door suddenly opens, catching Zane in the face. Stars of pain abound.)
SFX: SMACK!!
Zane: UHN!!
(Page 13, panel 1. After school. We see Zane walking home. He carries a backpack full of books.)
Cap (J1): I must be cursed.
Cap (J2): First I find out that Miller’s forcing himself on Talia...
Cap (J3): Then I have to stay after school because some guy thought I was pushing someone else into the way of an opening door.
Cap (J4): And worst of all, I missed my rendezvous with Spider-Girl.
Cap (J5): Man, I wish I could get a lover like her.
Cap (J6): I wonder if we have anything in common besides being super-heroes?
(Panel 2. We see May carrying her backpack home.)
Cap (M1): Man, what a horrible day.
Cap (M2): I’ve got to cancel practice again while the homework piles up.
Cap (M3): And worst of all, I missed my rendezvous with J2.
Cap (M4): Like an Avenger has my kind of problems.
(Panel 3. May and Zane pass by the lot from earlier. They spot each other.)
Cap (M1): Say, isn’t that Jimmy’s cousin?
Cap (M2): Guess he had to stay after school too.
(Panel 4. They walk off in separate directions.)
Cap (M): Like J2 could understand my problems.
Cap (J): Like Spider-Girl could understand my problems.
(Page 14, panel 1. Gunfire is heard.)
Cap (M): Gunfire! Man, of all the times...
(Panel 2. May ducks into a sideway, only to see Zane turning into J2.)
May: What the --!?
(Panel 3. J2 turns to see that May there.)
Cap (J1): Aw, maaan!
Cap (J2): Can’t anyone get some privacy these days?
(Panel 4. J2 approaches May.)
J2: Tell anyone you saw this and I’ll tear your head off.
May: Uh... right.
(Panel 5. J2 exits and goes off.)
Cap (M1): Man, I’m glad he didn’t take my head off.
Cap (M2): It’s not like I saw anything.
(Page 15, panel 1. May changes into her Spider-Girl outfit.)
Cap (M1): Maybe I should let J2 handle this by himself.
Cap (M2): Nah...
(Panel 2. Spider-Girl exits the alley to see J2 being shot at by Mr. Tambo and two thugs.)
SFX: BLAM!! BLAM!!
J2: Oh please, you might as well be hitting me with a feather.
(Panel 3. Spider-Girl strikes one of the men as J2 strikes one of the other men.)
SFX: POW! WHAM!!
J2: Nice of you to drop on in...
Spider-Girl: Hey, I have a reason for being late...
(Panel 4. Tambo flees the area.)
Tambo: I will return... and when I do, you two are going down...
(Page 16, panel 1. Tambo throws a gas grenade.)
Tambo: It’s been a gas... but I’ve got to go...
(Panel 2. Gas sprays from the grenade as Tambo exits.)
Spider-Girl: Tear gas!
(Panel 3. Spider-Girl shoots a webline, and swings out of the gas as J2 goes out of it.)
J2: Cough!
(Panel 4. A nearby street. We see J2 and Spider-Girl standing next to each other.)
J2: So much for our first time teaming up.
Spider-Girl: Well, I did manage to get a spider-tracer on him.
(Page 17, panel 1. The approach each other.)
J2: Then let’s nail him.
(Panel 2. Spider-Girl has the tracking device in her hand, along with her purse on her shoulder.)
Spider-Girl: Good thing I was able to get this...
J2: Yea...
(Panel 3. She tunes up the tracking device.)
Spider-Girl: He’s heading to the lower east side.
J2: Then that’s where we’re going.
(Panel 4. Spider-Girl swings out on a webline.)
Spider-Girl: I hope you can keep up with me.
J2: Just watch me.
(Page 18, panel 1. A warehouse on the lower east side. We see Mr. Tambo with a bunch of boxes of rifles, landmines, guns, and other instruments of destruction.)
Cap (N): Later...
Tambo: We’ve got a major order for some arms from Keazriiskstan. We’re shipping out a good chunk of our inventory here. Get it going, guys!
(Panel 2. suddenly Spider-Girl enters, and shoots webbing, catching two of the men off guard.)
Tambo: You again!? Give it up, or I’ll squash you like the insect you are!!
(Panel 3. Spider-Girl connects with a foot to the jaw.)
Spider-Girl: Spiders are arachnids, not insects.
(Panel 4. Spider-Girl then knocks one of the thugs down with an elbow to the stomach.)
Spider-Girl: Then again I guess we shouldn’t expect much from someone who chose lawbreaking as their career.
Tambo: Stop her!!
(Page 19, panel 1. Several thugs fire their automatic guns as Spider-Girl dodges the shots. The shots bounce off J2.)
SFX: POW! POW! POW! POW!
J2: That’s it. Shooting me only makes me angry.
(Panel 2. J2 strikes several of the thugs with a sweeping arm motion.)
SFX: WHAM!!!
Cap (M1): Woah, that’s a strong guy.
Cap (M2): Good thing he’s on my side.
(Panel 3. Spider-Girl, dodging gunfire, strikes Mr. Tambo with a diving kick.)
SFX: KA-WHACK!!!!
(Panel 4. Spider-Girl wraps up Mr. Tambo.)
Spider-Girl: And that’s all she wrote on this one.
J2: Yea...
(Page 20, panel 1. Spider-Girl ties up Mr. Tambo with her webbing.)
Spider-Girl: This one went much better.
J2: Definitely.
Cap (M): Could he wanted to have prolonged this?
Cap (J): Could she wanted this to have lasted longer?
(Panel 2. Later. We see Spider-Girl and J2 in front of a police station.)
Spider-Girl: Well, now that Mr. Tambo is the hands of the police, we can relax.
J2: Until the next menace shows up.
(Panel 3. J2 smiles slightly.)
J2: You know, I’d like to get with you some time, maybe we can train over at the Avengers headquarters?
Spider-Girl: Well, sure... I guess.
Cap (M): Don’t choke up now, Mayday! You’ve got a lot riding on this...
(Panel 4. They stare into each other’s eyes.)
Cap (N1): Will they really fall in love, or just get hyperhormonal?
Cap (N2): Only time will tell.
(Page 21, panel 1. Spider-Girl gives J2 a kiss.)
Spider-Girl: Well, I’ve really had a lot of fun.
SFX: kiss.
(Panel 2. Parting with J2, Spider-Girl shoots a webline.)
Spider-Girl: Unfortunately, homework calls...
J2: Same here...
Cap (M): Ugh... that sounded dumb.
(Panel 3. J2 blushes slightly as Spider-Girl exits.)
Cap (J): She likes me!!
(Panel 4. Go back to Spider-Girl.)
Cap (M1): I wish I didn’t have to leave him like that.
Cap (M2): He had a great bod.
Cap (M3): Maybe someday we can be together.
