Spider-Girl: Scattergun Spider-Girl
“Scattergun”

Note: I've commented that Spider-Girl looks like another Tom DeFalco creation, Stellaris. Well, Here's a picture of stellaris. (and here's a better picture of her face.)Compare that with this picture of Spider-Girl.

(front cover. We see Spider-Girl swinging on a web line over Scattergun, who is firing at her but not hitting her. Behind them we see Franklin Richards and Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Five. Caption notation: M-Spider-Girl.)

Cap (N): When Spider-Girl takes on drug dealers... Scattergun comes!

(Page 1, panel 1. Spider-Girl’s high school, on the front steps. We see some kids there hanging out and being bored.)

Cap (N1): High school isn’t all fun and games.
Cap (N2): It’s a lot of boring work.
Cap (N3): Some seek escapism from this.
Cap (N4): Unfortunately, they turn to the wrong things...

(Panel 2. Enter a teenage drug dealer. We see him wearing a long brown coat.)

Teen: You got the stuff?
Dealer: Yea, I got it. Cough it up, kid.

(Panel 3. The kid pulls out some money.)

Scattergun (from off panel): Save your money, kid.

(Panel 4. Scattergun enters, swinging in on a rope. He kicks the kid, knocking the teen down. Scattergun has a rifle drawn.)

Scattergun: I need you down so I can do this.
SFX: WHAP!

(Panel 5. Scattergun fires his rifle at near point-blank range, killing the drug dealer.)

Scattergun: Let this be a lesson to you... drugs kill!!
SFX: BLAM!!
Teen: Ohmigawd!!

(Panel 6. Scattergun swings away.)

Teen: He killed Ken! You B@$+@r&!

(Page 2, panel 1. Inside the school. We see May Parker, dressed in a T-shirt and blue jeans and holding several books. With her is Courtney Duran, her friend. Courtney also carries some books and wears a red shirt and pants.)

Cap (N): Meanwhile, inside...
Courtney: Man, old man Thompson sure is mean. I can’t believe he gave us homework the night before the big dance.
May: Yea...

(Panel 2. May is lost in thought.)

Cap (N1): Life is never easy for anyone.
Cap (N2): Especially if your name is May Parker.
Cap (N3): Named after a great-aunt you never knew.
Cap (N4): But you do know this:
Cap (N5): You are Spider-Girl.
Courtney: Hello? Earth to Mayday!

(Panel 3. May turns back to Courtney.)

May: Oh - sorry. I was just wondering about some things.

(Panel 4. May’s Spider-Sense goes off.)

Courtney: What is it?
May: Stay here, Courtney.

(Panel 5. May ducks into a restroom.)

Courtney: But - Ooh!

(Page 3, panel 1. Enter Spider-Girl now in her uniform. exit Courtney.)

Cap (M1): I hated ditching Courtney like that.
Cap (M2): I hope I can make it up to her some time.
SFX: BLAM!!

(Panel 2. Spider-Girl arrives just in time to see Scattergun leave.)

Spider-Girl: Hey, stop!!
Cap (M1): Right.
Cap (M2): Like he’s going to stop just because I said so.
Cap (M3): He’s too far away for me to get.

(Panel 3. Spider-Girl shoots a spider-tracer, which sticks to Scattergun’s coat.)

Cap (M1): Got him!
Cap (M2): I hope I can track him.

(Panel 4. Spider-Girl surveys the damage.)

Cap (M1): What a waste.
Cap (M2): I wonder why that guy killed him?

(Panel 5. Spider-Girl swings out on a web line.)

Cap (M1): Let’s hope the tracer can tell us more.
Cap (M2): Dad’s probably going to kill me for borrowing it without asking.

(Page 4, panel 1. Phil Urich’s lab. We see him talking to Peter Parker. Phil wears a suit and white lab coat; Peter is in a suit and tie.)

Peter: You’ve got to be kidding me!

(Panel 2. Phil is face-to-face with Peter.)

Phil: It’s true. Franklin Richards wants to get in touch with Spider-Girl.

(Panel 3. Peter thinks.)

Peter: Uh - I don’t really know that.
Phil: I see.
Cap (Phil 1): Doesn’t he know his daughter is Spider-Girl?
Cap (Phil 2): And if he doesn’t should I be the one to tell him?

(Panel 4. Go back to Spider-Girl. We see her walk out of a bathroom, wearing what she had on earlier. The foot of her Spider-Girl costume sticks out from her purse.)

Cap (N): And a change of clothing later...
Cap (M1): Man, just when you think you can’t get any worse....
Cap (M2): Courtney is really hacked at me.
Cap (M3): Should I tell her who I really am?
Cap (M4): and if I do, how should I react?

(Panel 5. May spots the foot hanging out of her handbag.)

Cap (M): Oh no!!

(Page 5, panel 1. May quickly stuffs the foot into her handbag as Courtney enters.)

Courtney (very coldly): Well, if it isn’t miss like-them-then-leave-them.
May: Courtney! I want to apologize for what I did earlier.

(Panel 2. Courtney walks off.)

Courtney: Forget it, May... apparently, all of your friends have to play second fiddle to this secret of yours... so in the end, you’re not going to have any friends.
May: Wait!!

(Panel 3. Courtney goes off as May turns despondent.)

Cap (M1): Wonderful.
Cap (M2): I’ve managed to let a criminal slip out of my hands, and alienate my best friend in one day.
Cap (M3): And it’s not even lunchtime yet.
Cap (M4): What else can go wrong?

(Panel 4. A bell rings as May walks in front of a door. Panel 5. The door suddenly opens, hitting May in the face hard.)

May: UHN!!

Cap (M3): Why couldn’t I have inherited my mother’s luck?

(Panel 4. Later. We see May Parker coming home from school, carrying a backpack with books and other things.)

Cap (N): Later...
May: Mom, I’m home!

(Page 7, panel 1. May looks around.)

May: Mom?

(Panel 2. May finds a note on the table.)

Cap (M): Well, she left a note...

(Panel 3. May reads the note. It says: “Dearest May, I have been called away for an assignment. Dinner is in the fridge, just microwave for one minute on high. Love, Mom.”)

Cap (M1): Now I can’t even tell mom how bad a day I’ve had.
Cap (M2): Maybe I should just have dinner and go to bed.

(Panel 4. Elsewhere. We see a drug deal going down in an alleyway.)

Cap (N): And at the same time...
Dealer: I got it, just gimme the stuff.

(Panel 5. We see fuzzy, out of focus shapes.)

Cap (DD1): What’s going on?

(Page 9, panel 1. Exit Scattergun.)Scattergun: We’re on the same side, Darkdevil... too bad you’re not smart enough to notice it...

(Panel 2. Several police enter, and see Darkdevil standing over the dead people.)
