Cap (N) Jubilee takes J2 out for a mission... and ends up with trouble!

(Page 1, panel 1. Magneta’s fortress. We see her in her uniform, standing in front of J2, who is in his uniform.)

Cap (J1) I should have listened to Blue Streak
Cap (J2): I never should have come here.
Cap (J3): I can’t even understand why I came here.
Cap (J4): But when you have the power of the Juggernaut,
Cap (J5): The only disasters you worry about are of the mental kind.
Cap (J6): I hope.
Magneta: I am in possession of some valuable information to Jubilee of the X-People... and I need you to deliver it to her.
J2: Why don’t you do it yourself?

(Panel 2. Magneta pulls out an envelope.)

Magneta: One word, my friend... trust. Would you trust someone who dressed up like your father’s archenemy?
J2: Point taken. But how do I know this isn’t some kind of trick?

(Panel 3. Magneta faces J2.)

Magneta: Unfortunately, for that, you will have to trust me. The letter is not in my handwriting, but someone who Jubilee holds near and dear...

(Panel 4. J2 takes the letter.)

J2: O.k.... but if you’re lying to me, you will regret it!
Cap (J1): Geez, that sounded corny.
Cap (J2): I just hope that this is important to Jubilee.

(Page 2, panel 1. A-Next headquarters. We see J2 standing in a lab, along with some technicians..)

Cap (J1): Can’t be too careful.
Cap (J2): So I’m going to have my Avengers pals check it out.

(Panel 2. A technician comes up to J2.)

Technician: We have the results here, Mr. J2. It’s an ordinary letter. Scans for explosives, chemicals, and everything else that could go wrong have come up negative.

(Panel 3. J2 takes the letter.)

J2: Thanks, gang.
Technician: It’s what we’re here for, Mr. J2.

(Panel 4. J2 walks off.)

Cap (J1): Now to give this to Jubilee.
Cap (J2): I just hope its good news...
Cap (N): Alas, it is good and bad news...

(Page 3, panel 1. X-People headquarters. We see J2 standing at the front door.)

Cap (N): Early the next morning, before school...
Cap (J): Well, here goes nothing.

(Panel 2. Go inside to see Jubilee looking terrible. He nose is red, her eyes are watering, and she looks depressed. She wears a bathrobe and slippers.)

Cap (Jb1): This is majorly bogus.
Cap (Jb2): I live right, exercise well, and eat well,
Cap (Jb3): But it’s me who ends up getting the flu.

(Panel 3. Jubilee answers the door.)

Jubilee: What can I - Achoo!
Cap (J): Uh-oh. I didn’t expect this.
J2: I’ll - I’ll come back when you’re feeling better.

(Panel 4. Jubilee invites J2 in.)

Jubilee: No, come on in, J2. I - *HACK!*
J2: Well, the reason why I came was to deliver this.

(Page 4, panel 1. J2 gives Jubilee the envelope.)

Jubilee: I’ve seen that handwriting before... but I can’t place it.
J2: I should warn you that I got it from Magneta... but the tests all turned up negative.

(Panel 2. Jubilee reads the letter.)

Jubilee: Good heavens! Esteban - he’s alive and in trouble!
J2: Esteban?

(Panel 3. They enter the place, and walk to the living room.)

Jubilee: Esteban was someone very special to me...

(Panel 4. Flashback to when Jubilee was a teenager. We see her meeting Sonnos for the first time, seeing him hanging upside-down in the Gen X Biodome.)

Cap (Jb1): It was a long time ago.
Cap (Jb2): I was just barely 15 when I met him. *COUGH!*
Cap (Jb3): But when I first saw him, I knew he was the one for me.

(Panel 5. We see a collage of Jubilee kissing Sonnos, the two of them fighting at each other’s side, and Sonnos holding up a rose for Jubilee.)

Cap (Jb1): We didn’t have a lot of -*ACHOO!* contact - he had to be in Texas with our X-team there, and I was in Snow Valley.
Cap (Jb2): But when we did come into contact, it was incredible
Cap (Jb3): Esteban and I were in love.

(Page 5, panel 1. Go back to the present. Jubilee is very emotional.)

Jubilee: We had planned to get married - then we had a mission in Central America, and got separated. I was shown a *COUGH!* burnt-up body and told it was Esteban’s. But now I know he’s alive... and I want him back.

(Panel 2. J2 is moved by this story.)

Cap (J1): Sounds like a storybook romance.
Cap (J2): Why can’t I have something like that?

(Panel 3. Jubilee pleads with J2.)

Jubilee: The X-People are out on a mission with Cyclops. I need someone to help me *ACHOO!!* rescue Esteban.
J2: You don’t look like you could rescue anything now, Jubilee. I think you should rest.

(Panel 4. Focus on Jubilee’s face.)

Jubilee: I’m going to rescue him, J2.... Be here tomorrow morning. I’m sure I’ll be over the flu by then.

(Page 6, panel 1. School, between classes. We see Zane Yama come up to Thalia.)

Cap (N): Later, while school is in session...
Cap (J1): Courage.
Cap (J2): There’s no harm in asking.

(Panel 2. Nervously, Zane looks at Thalia.)

Zane: Thalia... I was wondering...
Thalia: Speak fast, I got to get to class.
(Panel 3. Zane pops the question.)

Zane: Would you... like to go to the dance with me?
Thalia: Thanks for the offer, but my heart belongs to another....

(Panel 4. Zane sees that she has her locker lined with pictures of J2.)

Thalia: I like a big, strong man... and they don’t come any stronger than J2.
Cap (J1): She likes me!!
Cap (J2): Or rather, she likes my alter ego.
Cap (J3): Maybe I should just tell her...

(Panel 5. Suddenly Miller Hallendale enters, pushing Zane aside.)

Miller: Yea, like you could actually get someone like him! You’re going to the dance with me, babe - end of story.
Thalia: No way! You’re out of your mind if you think I’ll go with you

(Panel 6. Miller is face-to-face with Thalia.)

Miller: I said you’re coming with me - end of story.

(Page 7, panel 1. Miller exits, and the bell rings.)

SFX: RRRRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGG!!!!
Cap (J1): Wonderful.
Cap (J2): Not only to I get put down in front of the woman I’m trying to win,
Cap (J3): But also I’m late to class.

(Panel 2. Go back to Jubilee. We see her going through an old shoebox of stuff.)

Cap (Jb1): This flu couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Cap (Jb2): I hope it’s a 24 hour virus.

(Panel 3. She looks at a picture of herself with Sonnos, at a carnival. They stand behind a board that has a beach scene, with a well-built man and a hot woman in small swimwear painted on it. The faces of these people are cut-out, with Sonnos’ and Jubilee’s heads in their places, respectively.)

Jubilee: ACHOO!!
Cap (Jb1): It seems like forever I’ve been without him.
Cap (Jb2): It’s killing me knowing he’s in danger.
Cap (Jb3): We had some fun times then....

(Panel 4. Flashback to the same picture as described previously. Jubilee and Sonnos have their picture made. Jubilee wears a pair of blue jeans and a blouse; Sonnos is in a blue shirt and blue jeans.)

Photographer: Smile!

(Page 8, panel 1. The two go to the photographer together.)

Photographer: Should be ready in just a minute.
Jubilee: I can hardly wait!

(Panel 2. The photographer shows them two copies of the same picture.)

Photographer: Ah, one for the gentleman, and one for the lady.
Jubilee: This is like so totally cool!

(Panel 3. The two of them go off together, holding hands.)

Sonnos: So where to next, mi amor?
Jubilee: Like... there’s so much to do, I can’t decide...
Voice (from off panel): Well, we’re going to Pleasant Screams, how about joining us?

(Panel 4. They turn to see Mirror and Penance there. Mirror wears a shirt and blue jeans; Penance is in a bicycle outfit that is dark blue color.)

Jubilee: Oh, hey guys. Sure, let’s give that coaster a whirl.
Cap (Jb1): I was so young, carefree then...
Cap (Jb2): Who would have guessed that things would turn out the way they did?

(Page 9, Panel 1. Suddenly about 4 mutants come crashing through a wall, destroying it.)

SFX: WHAM!!!!

(Panel 2. Sonnos, Jubilee, Mirror and Penance turn to face the mutants.)

Yardlot: Alright, everyone, it’s donation time to my favorite charity - me! Empty your purses and wallets, because we’re going to clean up!
Jubilee: Man, what a total bummer!

(Panel 3. A guard fires her gun at Yardlot, hitting him. However, the bullets bounce off of him.)

SFX: BLAM! BLAM! Ping! Ping!
Yardlot: Put that pea shooter away before you hurt someone!

(Panel 4. Sonnos, Jubilee, Mirror and Penance advance as Yardlot crushes the gun with his hand, also crushing the guard’s hand with it.)

SFX: SKRENCH!!!
Guard: AH!!!
Yardlot: Some people have to be told the hard way.

(Panel 5. Penance slashes Yardlot with her hands, causing him to bleed.)

SFX: SLASH!!
Yardlot: What the --!?

(Page 10, panel 1. The four mutants face our heroes.)

Sonnos: There will be no stealing here today.
Yardlot: So a bunch of punk kids want to make trouble, hm? Let ‘em have it!

(Panel 2. Sonnos sonically lifts another one of the mutants in the air, trapping him. Jubilee fires her energy plasmoids at a female mutant, who dives to avoid it.)

SFX: Ping! Pip! Ping!

(Panel 3. Yardlot struggles with Penance as Mirror strikes the fourth mutant.)

Mirror: Such actions will only end you in jail.
SFX: WHAM!!

(Panel 4. Jubilee continues to fire her energy plasmoids at the woman, who runs very fast to avoid them.)

Woman: Ha ha! can’t catch me! I’m Greased Lightning!

(Panel 5. Sonnos drops the man as Penance throws Yardlot into the ground.)

SFX: WHUNK!
Sonnos: Watch him, mi amor.

(Panel 6. Jubilee fires her energy sparks at the standing man as Sonnos approaches Greased Lightning.)

Greased Lightning: So what are you going to do? You can’t stop me.
Sonnos: I think a better question you should ask is - (Page 11, panel 1. Greased Lightning runs into a sonic barrier, hitting it face first. Stars of pain abound where she hits.)

Sonnos: Can you stop yourself?
SFX: POW!!!

(Panel 2. We see Sonnos, Jubilee, Penance, and Mirror gather up the 4 mutants for the police.)

Sonnos: Well, things have worked out for the best, no?
Jubilee: Too bad our day was like totally ruined.
Mirror: Ah, but the park really doesn’t jump and jive until nightfall.

(Panel 3. Sonnos smiles at Jubilee.)

Sonnos: Let’s go have dinner at the Mexican pavilion, no?
Jubilee: O.k... then we’ll ride the Pleasant Screams
Mirror: Just as long as I sit ahead of you two.

(Panel 4. The three of them laugh.)

All: Hahahahahahaha!!

(Page 12, panel 1. Go back to the present.)

Cap (Jb1): I was so young then.
Cap (Jb2): Hard to believer it was so long ago.
Jubilee: ACHOO!!
: Cap (Jb3): When did life stop being so fun?

(Panel 2. Back with Zane. He is sitting in science class, next to Miller Hallendale. The teacher looks at them.)

Teacher: Well, Mr. Hallendale, this exercise was to test the two of you to see if you could work with someone you’re not to fond of. Mr. Yama, you pass this exercise. Mr. Hallendale, you do not.
Miller: (angered) WHAT!?!?!?!?

(Panel 3. Miller stands, and advances on the teacher.)

Miller: I NEED TO PASS!! THE SCHOOL NEEDS ME IN THE GAME!!!
Teacher: You should have thought about that before you decided to let Mr. Yama do all the work.

(Panel 4. Miller strikes the teacher, sending the teacher back.)

Cap (J1): Oh no! Miller’s going to tear Mr. Jackson to bits!
Cap (J2): Unless...

(Panel 5. Zane slips into a closet.)

Zane: Do your thing....

(Page 13, panel 1. J2 comes out to see Miller pounding on the Teacher.)

J2: Back away from him... now.

(Panel 2. Miller turns to see J2 there.)

Miller: (worried) J2? Uhn... I didn’t mean any harm....
J2: I think you’d better come to the office with me.

(Panel 3. Miller tries to flee, but J2 grabs him by his shirt.)

J2 (1): Don’t be in such a hurry.
J2 (2): You O.k., Mr. Jackson?
Teacher: Only my pride is wounded.

(Panel 4. The teacher stands.)

Teacher: Well, Mr. Hallendale, I’m afraid this little incident will not only cost you your spot on the football team, but you will be suspended for awhile as well.

(Page 14, panel 1. The next day. We see Jubilee better, and wearing her uniform. She is ready for action, and is standing on the porch. J2 stands next to her. He is in his uniform.)

Cap (N): The next morning...
Jubilee: Are you like ready to go?
J2: Yea, let’s go.

(Panel 2. A small city in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The place consists of several small huts, and a few adobe homes.)

Cap (N1): Asta Mejor, Quintana Roo, United States of Mexico.
Cap (N2): Here resides someone very powerful in the drug trade.
Cap (N3): A crimelord who wields his power with the unwilling help of a certain Guadalajara born mutant...

(Panel 3. Go inside to see Sonnos chained to a wall. He is dressed in rags, unshaven, unwashed, and otherwise filthy. He is also considerably thinner than usual, and older.)

Guard: Mealtime, Vazquez.

(Panel 4. The guard throws dirty water into Sonnos’ face.)

SFX: SPLOOSH!
Guard: Enjoy.

(Page 15, panel 1. Go to outside the compound. We see Jubilee and J2 there, trying to sneak into the place.)

J2: (quietly) So this Sonnos guy must be really special, right?
Jubilee: (quietly) He’s the first and only real lover I’ve ever had....

(Panel 2. Suddenly about 10 guards jump out of nowhere and attack J2 and Jubilee. They fire guns.)

J2: Woah!

(Panel 3. Jubilee fires her energy plasmoids at the guards. Bullets bounce off J2.)

SFX: Pip! Ping! Pip!
Jubilee: Don’t just stand there, fight back!
J2: Oh - right.

(Panel 4. J2 strikes one of the guards, sending him down. Bullets continue to bounce off J2.)

J2: I hope he remembers you....
SFX: Pip! Ping! POW!!!

(Page 16, panel 1. The guards are brought down one by one by J2 and Jubilee.)

Jubilee: I’m sure he does...

(Panel 2. We see the guards all down and hurting.)

Jubilee: Come on, they know about us now!

(Panel 3. Go inside to see the druglord angered.)

Druglord: I will not have my business put down by some aging hag and a superhuman brat! Send in my elite guard!

(Panel 4. Jubilee and J2 are down at the entrance to the prison area.)

J2: Definitely not the kind of place I’d want to hang out in.
Jubilee: (quietly, annoyed) Sssh! Come on!

(Panel 5. They arrive at Sonnos’ prison cell.)

Jubilee: Oh my God...

(Page 17, panel 1. J2 tears the cell door off its hinges as Jubilee enters the place.)

Jubilee: Esteban... what happened to you... ?
Sonnos: ¿Jubilación? (Panel 2. Jubilee fires on Sonnos’s shackles, breaking them. This causes Sonnos to collapse.)

Jubilee: I’m taking you home, Esteban.... I need you now more than ever...

(Panel 3. Jubilee and J2 help Sonnos stand.)

Sonnos: We have to get the key for my power controlling collar.
Jubilee: I don’t know where it is.
Voice (From off panel): Looking for this?

(Panel 4. They turn to see several well-armed troopers standing there. They are dressed in jungle camouflage, and wielding machine rifles.)

Guard: Sonnos is a dangerous mutant. We cannot let him leave here.
J2: We’re taking him, and you can’t stop us.

(Panel 5. The guards open fire, but J2 steps in the way. The bullets bounce off him.)

J2: You’re out of your league, mister... when you face the unstoppable might of the Juggernaut!
SFX BLAM! BLAM!

(Page 18, panel 1. The guards continue to fire as J2 makes a sweeping motion with his hand, sending the guards back.)

SFX: KA-POW!!!
Guard: UHN!!

(Panel 2. J2 picks up the key, and gives it to Jubilee as the guards reel.)

J2: Piece of cake.
Sonnos: I’m glad he’s on our side, no?

(Panel 3. Jubilee frees Sonnos from his collar.)

Sonnos: Gracias, Mi amor. Now I can do this.

(Panel 4. Sonnos broadcasts a sound, healing himself.

Cap (J): I never thought sonic healing was real...

(Page 19, panel 1. Jubilee helps Sonnos enter the plane, as J2 covers the rear.)

J2: Let’s get going... the natives don’t look friendly...

(Panel 2. Jubilee pilots the plane off.)

Sonnos: Turn around... we have to do one thing...
J2: What’s that?

(Panel 3. Sonnos fires the plane’s lasers, at something.)

J2: What does peligro - inflamable mean?
Sonnos:Danger - combustible materials.

(Panel 4. We see the plane fly away as the compound explodes in a massive fireball.)

SFX: THOOM!!!!

(Page 20, panel 1. X-Mansion. We see J2, Jubilee, and Sonnos there. Sonnos is now cleaned up, and wearing his uniform.)

Cap (N1): Several hours later.
Cap (N2): Sonnos and Jubilee have been reunited.
Jubilee: We couldn’t have done this without you.
Sonnos: Sí, señor. I owe you my life.
J2: It was nothing. Well, if you ever need my help again, just ask...

(Panel 2. J2 walks away, with a look of sadness on his face.)

Jubilee: We will, J2... Thanks once again...

(Panel 3. We see J2 walking down a road.)

Cap (J1): They are happy.
Cap (J2): They have love.
Cap (J3): I wonder if I could ever have love like that?

(Panel 4. Go back to Sonnos and Jubilee. We see them in each other’s arms, holding each other close.)

Jubilee: So, what do you want to do now?
Sonnos: Tengo hambre. Let’s have dinner together, then we can settle down for the evening.

(Page 21, panel 1. Next day in school. We see Zane Yama walking down a hallway, when Montana approaches him.)

Montana: Hey Zane, hear what happened to Miller?
Zane: I saw him hit the teacher, what did they do to him?
(Panel 2. They continue to talk.)

Montana: He’s been sent to reform school. Seems his temper has gotten the best of him several times before.
Cap (J): Wow. I never thought he was that bad.

(Panel 3. They walk together as they talk.)

Montana: So now you’re without a lab partner.
Zane: Yea, but the teacher already told me I passed, and Miller failed.

(Panel 4. Montana goes off.)

Montana: Well, got to run! I’ve got a lab with Thalia now.
Zane: Well, good luck.
Cap (J): Some people get all the luck...

(Page 22, panel 1. We see in a viewscreen Sonnos and Jubilee kissing, and holding each other close.)

Caption (1): Perfect. This fits with my plan.
Caption (2): Soon, the X-People will be no more.

(Panel 2. Sonnos and Jubilee come up for air.)

Sonnos: It’s good to be back in your arms, mi amor.
Jubilee: This is totally incredible, Esteban. I never thought I could find love again.

(Panel 3. We see Zane walking home in the sunset.)

Cap (Z) So much for today...
