Electro Harmonix

Sigh. Back in the late '70's, I bought four E-H pedals. The very first pedal I bought was none other than the Big Muff Pi. It was followed by Doctor Q. When I lost interest in guitars for a little while (my personal Dark Ages), I guess some bizarre mojo infected these pedals, because when I took them out in the mid-80's, neither one worked. The other two are still working away.

Marshall

VibraTrem (To read my review of this pedal, click here!)

Guv'Nor Plus (I tried this out at a shop going through a Fender Deville amp, and darned if the Guv didn't make that amp sound like a cranked Marshall. So I snapped it up the first time I saw one used. Sad to say, I've never duplicated that tonal miracle at home. At least the Guv's good looks make it a cool paperweight..

MXR

10 band Graphic EQ (I snapped this up at one of Toronto's few remaining Cash Converters on October 28/02. According to the Jim Dunlop Home Page, this pedal is discontinued. I'm guessing that Dunlop made the pedal, because it looks a bit too new to be a vintage pedal. Also, I've seen actual vintage MXR 10 band EQs and they were blue. This one comes with a built in AC cord, which is a huge plus. In keeping with classic MXR standards, the pedal is built like a brick, and the sliders seem built to last - they don't stick out, so they can't be snapped off. On the negative side, there isn't an on/off switch, so the effect is always on (no LED light, either). Speaking of those sliders, who decided to colour them black? This makes your settings invisible to the average eye under average lighting. However, for what I paid, I think I can live with these shortcomings. After all, there's 10 bands of EQ to play with!)
