Description: The Falls is built directly over top the magnificent Deathgate Falls waterfall. Most of the building (including the floor) is composed of magically strengthened glass to provide for a more spectacular view. The ambiance inside is classy but with a touch of too much commercialism. There are several tables on an outdoor, glass deck which juts precariously out over the falls. These seats are favored by the tourists and the adventurous as the noise from the crashing water makes conversation difficult and the mist will drench customers in a matter of minutes. Overall, the Thundering Falls is one of the fanciest restaraunts/taverns in all of Deathgate and is popular among the cities rich and powerful.
Encounter: There is a 5 gp entrance fee just to get in and at least 20% is expected as a tip.
Name: The Plunge
Location: Deathgate, Kavlin
Food Quality: Average
Services/Comfort: Low
Safety Level: Average
Specialty: "Jumpin'" Swordfish
Owner:
Bartender:
Bouncers:
Capacity: 100
Common Patrons:
Description: The Plunge was started two years after the Thundering Falls was built. The owners saw how successful the Falls was and tried to cut in on the action. They spent nearly all their money purchasing land near Deathgate Falls waterfall. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough left over to pay for fancy decorations, or talented cooks and servers. Therefore, the Plunge has no ambiance and everything is extremely tacky. As a last ditch effort to stay in business, the management offered a promotion that on a customer's 100th order of the "Jumpin' Swordfish" special, they get to choose a server to go over the falls in a barrel. Even though the barrel is marginally protected by magic, it is needless to say that it is difficult to keep servers on staff.
Encounter:
Name: Deathgate Dungeon
Location: Deathgate, Kavlin
Food Quality: Poor
Services/Comfort: Poor
Safety Level: Poor
Specialty: Roc gut
Owner: Mistress Latvia (5th lvl human vampire businesswoman)
Bartender:
Bouncers: There are 12 bouncers total, with 8 on duty at all times. 4 are trolls, 3 are orcs, 1 dwarf and 4 humans. They are all armed, extremely capable of handling violence and short tempered.
Capacity: 120
Common Patrons:
Description: The Dungeon lives up to it's malevolent name. It is almost entirely underground with cold, dripping stone walls. Most of the decor consists of rusted, iron chains. The music is always deafening and wild. Obnoxious magical light beams and pyrotechnics are prolific. The Dungeon is populated by two types of people. The most common are the rough and wild youth of the city, trying to appear rebelious and tough. Only slightly less common are the true criminal scum. Theft and violence are common and, in fact, there is a special shoot where the bouncers toss those who cause too much trouble or those who are unable to leave under their own power (whether by intoxication or violence). The shoot leads to a garbage dump that is also used by the bar. Deathgate Falls authorities stay away from the Dungeon, for their own safety and because everyone in town knowns what they can expect if they go there.
Encounter: Nearly every major and minor criminal in town has their own 'reserved' table at the Dungeon. Characters have a 80% chance of taking a crime lords table and being assaulted by his goons if they don't leave.
