Angela - By Angela

Part 5

I handed the waiter my menu and shifted my weight around. I twisted my hands, making the many silver rings I wear clink together.

So, Jack, how was ya day?asked Lynn, as she slid into the seat next to my brother.

It was good. I sold all me papes, Angela hea bought da last one. he said, flashing me a smile.

Really. Lynn glared at me. Boy, did she hate me. It was really beginning to bother me, after all she had no reason whatsoever to dislike me. I glared back at Lynn. My brother was watching us. He glanced at me and raised his eyebrows.

Jack frowned at Lynn, Lynn, is dere somthin wrong? Lynn snapped to attention and gave Jack a big grin. Naw, everythins fine! Jack nodded, looking unconvinced.

Hey, Lynn! Cmere! cried one of the newsies. Lynn got up and went to see what he wanted.

Jack watched her get up. Scuse me. he said, and got up to follow Lynn.

Oh God... I groaned, shruching up my face and leaning back into the seat.

What was wrong with that Lynn girl? Johnny exclaimed.

I dont know. She was awful. I rubbed my eyes. Ugh. What a bad way to start things off. Its my second day in New York and already I have people hating me.

Hey, thats a new record, Ange.

Shut up! I hate first impressions. I dont know what it is about me. I think being rich intimidates people or something...

Hey, Is real sorry bout Lynn back dere. Jack apologized, sliding back into the booth.

Its ok. I said, smiling in understanding.

No, she was bein real rude ta ya. I dont know what got in ta her.

Ange has a way of making people do strange things. Johnny said, laughing. I kicked him under the table.

Ow. he mumbled, and glared at me. Jack looked at the two of us and laughed.
