I think it's more than safe to say that we all know this already, right? This is a short poem in Mulder's POV (I've been writing a lot of MPOV lately. I don't quite know why...). I hope you enjoy it! Many thanks to all for reading &/or recommending! ******** Frustration, longing, yearning claw vigorously at my inner being Overpowering me with sensations borne silently for so long, X-raying my inner core as if I were it's latest test subject. Why am I destined for this life, to bear witness to the Intolerable sacrifice of the simple human comforts I covet? Leprous self-doubt gnaws at my battered, once-hopeful ego, Luring me further into the darkness coming from within, Interring me into it's shadowy tomb of whirring emotions, Almost willing me to live only within my own mind, in the Madness borne solely from years of unanswered questions. Must I continue along this painful pathway by myself? Unifying my heart even further with the cold thoughts, Loneliness, the empty, hollow sounds of one who is Drowning, struggling to find the meaning of the Empty void that is present in the absence of my compliment, Reaching in desperation to mend my fractured soul? Softly, I am assuaged from my inner turmoil with the Calmness of the statuesque, steady features, the Understanding that ebbs from just one glance from Luminescent, pure irises, from which I cannot hide, that Leaves my heart to feel the unadulterated bliss that my Youth craved but never quite seemed to capture. Knowledge that I am not alone in my journey Allows perseverance's strength to build and grow Telling me to press ever forward, though it becomes Harder as time's cunning clock continues to tick. Enjoyment, satisfaction wells within my beaten mind Reminding me of my life's purposes and designs, Instilling hope deep down into my marrow, Nurturing the blinding love that consumes me, Encouraging me to reach toward that elusive light. Darkness lifts it's heavy hold around my heart As my love's pupils earnestly search my own Noting the agonizing years of silent solitude, and Accessing, illuminating, soothing those places hidden within.
