i stand among the ruins
watching in disbelief

my life is burning

blackened files
lay at my feet as
all that i stand for
crumbles into dust

my hopes are burning

gray smoke rises
clouding my eyes and
suffocating my soul

my beliefs are burning

red lights flash across
my face illuminating
my mistakes and
mocking my arrogance

my heart is burning

and there's nothing
i can do to stop
the flames
