brimming with tears

she turns around and looks at me
  her blue eyes sparkling with fire
  and brimming with tears
    she refuses to let spill over

she comes to me
  frail and fragile
    like the wings of a dove
  strong and courageous
    like the beat of a heart

she tells me she is willing to fight
she tells me she wants to live

and then there they are
  the unshed tears now shed
glistening on her cheeks
  they are liquid proof of our fears

she comes to me
   her heartbeats strong and steady
     beating against my chest
  my kiss on her forehead
    gentle, soft and loving

she releases herself and looks at me
  her blue eyes beautiful and shining
  and brimming with tears
    she has allowed to spill over
