The Good
When you really think about it, almost every movie boils down to good vs. evil...okay, so maybe that's a little bit of a stretch. However, i think it must be one of the rules that all horror movies have to have good vs. evil as the main component in the film.Well Lost Boys isn't breaking the mold in that regard -watch the movie and you'll be amazed at how Screamish some of the scenes are, but i'll get into that later- it has a nice cast of hero's in the movie.
So below are there names, and a quick description of them. The descriptions will get better with time, i promise!
Well you could say that Michael is the hero of this picture, and i guess you wouldn't be too far off, personally i don't like him all that much. That's just me though ---- and i think that my not liking him has a lot to do with the fact that he kills David...
Anway, Michael is the eldest of the emmerson brothers, and he well...he along with the rest of the cast (minuis David) look really 80's...
He ends up getting turned into this freaky vampire human hybrid, after drinking some of David's blood (from a wine bottle, Michael's so stupid that he mistook Blood for Wine... :))So to make a long story short, Michael wins the heart of Star, and ends up impaling David on a set of antlers that hangs in the 'living room' of the house.
Personally, i relay dislike Michael, although i know that he has to be in the movie, i just wish...he could have had a lesser part....or been cooler....or something!
Well Sam is Michael's little brother, and another one of the hero's in the movie. Called a fashion victim in the film, that pretty much sums up his sense of style.
He's into comic books big time, and knows like, a lot about them. He isn't into horror comics when the movie starts, but as time goes on, two horror comics become invaluable to him. These are; Vampires Everywhere!, and Destroy All Vampires.
Sam is an innovative kid, and a pretty good shot with a crossbow.
No, i'm not talking about those amphibians that make there home in a swamp, i'm talking about the two vampire hunting extraordinare slayers in the movie. Frog, Elder and Allan Frog.
The two brothers (roughly the same age as Sam) run a comic book shop on the Santa Carla, board walk. Apparently because their parents make them. It's not that well organized other... well at least according to Sam <G>.
Anway, the Frogs are two of the few people in Santa Carla to know the truth about all the disappearances that are taking place.
They come across as two big mean vampire hunters, but in truth, there more chicken than anything else.
Still some of the best lines in the movie (according to me) come from them.
Well what can i say about Grandpa?? For starters he's a creepy old man who believes that if you get the T.V guide you don't need T.V, he's also got some strange rules about said T.V Guide... Secondly he and Norman Bates share an interesting 'hobby', they stuff dead things.
Yup, Grandpa (father of Lucy and therefore Grandpa to Michael and Sam) is a taxidermist of sorts. He gives some lovely 'gifts' to Sam throughout the movie.
In the end it's show that Grandpa is a lot smarter than anyone thought, which is shown when he delivers the movies closing line (after he dusts the master);
"One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach. All the damn vampires."
The mother of Sam and Michael, and the daughter of Grandpa. It was her divorce with her kids dad (his name is never mentioned nor is there reason given why she divorced him, or he divorced her) that leads them to move to Santa Carla. Than once there move into the same house as her father.
She get's a job at the local video store, and starts a relationship with owner of said store, Max.
It' doesn't go all that well, as when ever she and Max are set to get cozy, something happens (something being a hysterical call from Sam, or a visit form the Frog brotherS).
On the surface she doesn't appear that important to the movie, but she is. Lucy is dating the head vampire after all. But you knew that right? Otherwise you wouldn't be looking at this site, and reading all these spoilers...right???
