On the night of September 19th 1961 the couple were driving back through New Hampshire after a vacation in Canada.  Betty noticed that one of the starts was much bigger and brighter than the others, she watched it for a while.  To her amazement the star was actually moving!!!  

For over an hour the star like object followed the car containing the Hills, at 11pm the object was in front of them, the car pulled over and they both got out for a better look.  Betty, who was first lost in wonder, started to feel frightened.  Barney though was walking towards the ufo.  He didn't hear Betty calling him back,  through his binoculars he could see figures through the windows looking right back at him.......................... 

Feeling numb and uncomfortable, they both knew something strange had happened.  Neither of them knew for sure.  Barney took the time on his watch, it read 1 a.m. then they realized they were 35 miles farther south than they should have been. 

They told no one about what had happened for fear of being ridiculed. 

But Barney had started to suffer terrible pains in his lower stomach and groin.  He confided in his friend a physicist, worried about radiation sickness they tested the car with a compass.  Barney held the compass near some round spots that were on one of the doors. 

The compass needle swung wildly...................
