Biography

Eithne Ni Brennan was born on May 17, 1961 in County Donegal Ireland. Her first musical experience was in the band Clannad, where she played keyboard and did vocals. She is credited on two albums: Crann Ull and Fuaim. I know that in the Fuaim album she did lead vocals on two songs; they are "An tull" and "Buaireadh an Phosta". However, when Nicky Ryan left the group, Enya followed to do solo work. Her first job was for the soundtrack to the movie The Frog Prince. Her first solo album was released in 1986 and was called Enya. Many of the songs on this album were also on the soundtrack to a BBC special called "The Celts." In 1988, she released Watermark which was her first big hit with the song "Orinoco Flow." Her next album, Shepherd Moons sold 10 million copies in the United States and won a Grammy. In 1992, her first album, Enya, was re-released as The Celts. Enya's fourth album, Memory of Trees, was released in 1995 and sold 8 million copies and won another Grammy. Most recently, Enya has released Paint the Sky With Stars, an album containing several songs off of her previous CD's as well as two new songs: "Paint the Sky With Stars" and "Only If..." Enya lives in Ireland in a castle called Ayesha Castle.
