Chaos Dwarf Tactics

 

I can lend a hand. I'll try and keep this rather simple,as proper CD tactics can often confuse new gamers. First of all, always equip your general with the full allowance of 3 mi's. This both beefs him up, and still lets him be tough if you are using the veto rules (If you are, then count on your general's protective devices to mystically disappear early in the game). If you take a sorcerer lord for a general, (not recommended since they don't have to be the general) make sure to equip him for magic use, not combat. Give him a combo like: B-Amulet, Wand of Jet, Skull Staff, and Spell Familiar.

Bull centaur characters:

How you use these depends on your strategy. If you prefer small (or 1 model) strike teams that are really hard to krak, use a lord, and a few heroes maxed out with goodies. If you prefer the large, regiment style of combat, do the same, but put them leading a large unit. Depending on the size of the game, this may take most of your army, but it's worth it. A unit of 20 - 30 bull centaurs with 3 or 4 characters (lord + heroes) in the front row will clean house very effectively!

CD warriors:

You are required to take at least one unit of these. Make them worth it. Take the unit, and make it about 20 or 30 strong. If you wish, consider a character with a magical item or 2 to help with combat results. a good banner never hurt anyone (except your opponent)

Hobgoblins:

Cannon fodder. Use them as expendable infantry. It's hard ,as a general, to see your troops fall in combat, but pay no attention. they are there to distract some other unit while say, the CDw's or the BC's flank them. It's a classic maneuver, but is still very effective. Just don't get distressed if they start to die. Make sure your units are at least 40 strong, and charge them directly into h2h.

Hobgoblin wolf riders:

unlike normal HG's these are not expendable infantry. Use a medium sized unit (10-15) as a strike team. They are most useful for out-flanking the enemies fast troops that move in on your CDw's. They may not be too strong, but on a flank charge, they can usually inflict a casualty or 2. If you stick a hero or 2 in the unit, maxed out with goodies of course, you can probably break most stuff too. Obviously Soft-And-Squishy troops like elves are much more vulnerable to this than, say saurus or black orcs.

Blunderbuss:

Take a wide unit (about 10w X 6d) if you can afford it to place on one side of your CD warriors. Keep them about 3 inches behind the back of the unit and off to the side the entire game like this:

Consider one on each side. This will both protect your flanks as you move, but once you get into combat, swing them forward and in, for devastating results. Not much can survive a round of h2h with CDWs, AND a double volley of blunderbuss fire! Chaos warriors? Saurus? where'd they go?

Deathrocket:

Use with caution. Never doubt the power of bad luck. the first time I ever went against this abomination of a war machine, it backfired and flew around the board a bit before slamming into the CD player's mage lord. Ker-Splat!

Earthshaker cannon:

Good move. It slows stuff down enough to give YOU the advantage in movement, and may also inflict some casualties. take 1 or 2 and keep them in the back on opposite sides of the table.

Sneaky Gits:

Heh heh, I just love these guys. But, they are absolutely useless if you don't take enough of them. Their main advantage is the lapping around. So, make sure you take at least 50, YES 50! Here's why. If your unit is about 10wX5d, you will have enough troops to lap around about anything! Even large units of goblins, or skinks. against weak troops, the shear number of attacks will slaughter them (the previously mentioned elves fall quickly to this :] ) and hard troops like ChaosWarriors, or Saurus will still be beaten, because the casualties they inflict in the front rank will not reduce the number of attacks enough to prevent a fight back, and with those poison knives.....:)

Orcs, Gobbos, Allies:

Black orcs. Don't waist your time with anything less. Give them 2 handed weapons and charge them in. plain and simple

 

Well, that's my 2 sense. It's much to think about so sort through it, and see if you find anything you like.
