--Golden Ink--

Componants: Magic Dust, Petrified Wood, Petrified Bones, Whole Flask of Oil, Annointed Oil from Jeweled flask, Metallic substance of choice (gold in this case)

Directions: First, grind up one piece of petrified wood, and two parts of petrified bone. Mix the two powders, and add the whole flask of oil. This will give a pastey texture to the mixture. Add the metal and stir well. This, to my knowledge is suitable for some uses alone.. but more steps are needed for the ink texture and the drying ability. Add the annointed oil, and stand back, as the mixture can sometimes have violent combinations. Let this mixture sit for several hours, as it will settle and form a new substance. This gives the mixture a ink like texture. The finaly ingrediant is the Magic Dust, which allows the mixture to dry in the form of ink.

Purple Pudding**

First you take a large mound of mud and place it in an empty bucket.
Two flowers of any kind, and mix them into the mud Pour the mud into purple robes
Touch an elven wand to the robes and chant the words "CHEESE AND KIWIS" ::chuckle::
Pour the mud back into the bucket and wait...
The bucket should begin to twitch, and then its contents will violently explode out of the bucket, covering everything with purple pudding!

Reseach of the Land

Research file name :- Egg of destiny.
Aim of File :- to investigate the egg of destiny.
Probability of completion, 45% due to lack of people in the land who remember the event.

Shilaqua please find here all the data I have collected on the egg of destiny, within the data lies the information you require. I find this time, the assignment set for me beyond my ability to complete due to the pathetic amount of knowledge in the lands, and those who do know the story, vacant from Terris.

Of all my research, below you will find a copy of my tells from Kilorria, an email from Deori, an instant message communication with Cassandra and a tale found upon the message boards.

I apologise for the incompletion but I feel I can not let this go on for much longer.

Kilorria Tells you: 'Sorry hon, Missed the tell and had to scroll up.'
Kilorria Tells you: 'I only know of what happened with the egg of destiny in my lifetime...and that story would' Kilorria Tells you: 'probably be best told by Kane.... As for the reasons for it's existence, I'd suggest you go to the creator and '
Kilorria Tells you: 'Speak with him :beams:'
Kilorria Tells you: 'Eek! and I thought I was trying to avoid the question '
Kilorria Tells you: 'History seems to have escaped a lot of us.. I'd like to know the story myself actually..'
Kilorria Tells you: 'I donae remember the names involved in the last egg of destiny quest other then Kane tho, and my aging' Kilorria Tells you: 'Memory is full of swiss cheese holes.. I vaguely remember participating '
Kilorria Tells you: 'I was there even and can't remember.. how's that for bad?'
Kilorria Tells you: ' I do remember that Kane tricked someone into offering the egg, causing evil to be' Kilorria Tells you: 'Spread about the realm.. It was about the time when we had a time rift of sort.. they coulda been' Kilorria Tells you: 'Connected, but I'm not certain, It was an insane week, Lord Worcester and Eternity ascended to Herodom...' Kilorria Tells you: 'Was a thrill to be around Terris at the time, Another strange event every ten moments. I wish I could ' Kilorria Tells you: 'Recall how they were all connected'

Scotland: Only small things that Deori told me a very long time. HH of Orbs: small things amuse small minds.......tell me all ya know every little bit will help me very much!!!!!! Scotland: the only real thing that I know is that it is a very powerful item obviously. It could hold the future within itself. HH of Orbs: is that its description? Scotland: No but if used correctly it could completely change Terris forever. Scotland: In one of 2 different ways. HH of Orbs: ...hits the continue button Scotland: ROFL. Scotland: Well, it is only through the use of the egg that you can ever achieve the simple stone. HH of Orbs: ahhhhhhhh........druids are involved....its a conspiracy HH of Orbs: Scotland: The simple stone has nothing to do with the druids. It was created a long time before the druids even existed. HH of Orbs: Scotland: I'm not sure why he wears it. HH of Orbs: I ask he....he refuses to speak about the egg....this info you gave me might just push him into speaking! :))))

thanks cass
Scotland: Coo.

Subj.: The Egg of Destiny.
The druids are the best bet, so far as I am aware only two mortals have ever worked out how to get the egg (other than winning it or being gifted it). And both were druids.

Fair to say that their guild has the easiest chance of finding it.

As for its history well that's part of the mystery.

Deori

Subject: A Rift In Time From: Druid Seal

Many years afore, when I was so young not even to have even dreamt of the doors of the adventurer's guild, the foundations of the land shook more than at any time since Alvogyl and Vagma had waged holy war in the wastelands.
That was the time of the Egg of Destiny. The time a proud knight Blackbow was called by the song of his Blessed Avenger of Law. A time of quest and punishment. Days of adventure and nights of endless battle with the drow. The slaying of the one eyed monster, and the recovery of the Egg. The time when Kane's machiavellian words persuaded Blackbow to shatter the Egg of Destiny, opening a Rift in Time. And all this witnessed by Thesmorphia's mortal eyes.
And in that rift, Vagma banished Deori from the realms. The people of the Terris grew in fear - nothing was immune from the rift in time...
"Devardec, blessed city of the Sun King, will become a dungeon to the Orc King." They murmered in the taverns..
And then the searching for the key, with 12 parts, that would return Deori to the realm... and after days of torment the success at last.
It was a time of the pact of the gods, a time when mortal minds grew in imagination. A time when Heros were made, and Immortals ascended.
... but what would happen today? Would there be anyone there to hear the call of Deori? Or would they be too busy power levelling in the hydra lair? Would any Immortal dare chose ONE mortal to search for the egg? Or would the thought of so many posts complaining about how that mortal was favoured and "why couldn't I get the egg instead" stop them?
Would there really be any mortals able to match the roleplay of Blackbow and Kane?
Would the heros stop squabaling amongst themselves for long enough to run a huge number of synchronised and inter-related adventures?
Would people complain so much about the temproary chaos in the game to let it go on?
I don't know.
It is not the place of mortal mind to call upon the gods to orchestrate once more a dance of the stars in the skies above... Yet how I wish I could make that call. Perhaps in that dance, the people of Terris would once again feel the power of imagination

In this mix and match of research, the story does lay, but with time stories are bent and twisted, with this mail, please see it as my submission.

Impetus.

Trolls!

Trolls roam the land everywhere you look. You can find them in the keep and all the dungeons and lairs in one form or another.

Trolls are large creatures that take great pleasure from attacking the adventurers of the lands. Many different sources have told me that their staple diet is human flesh and they will go to any ends to get this delicacy.

The average soldier Troll stands approximately seven to eight feet tall and weighs around 600lbs. They have well developed muscles, but with all this weight and size they move quite slowly. The soldier Trolls are not that difficult to overcome, they are slow and fairly weak, only hitting for around 100 at the best of times. Higher in the Troll society is the real soldiers of the Troll species, the Troll champions.

These Troll champions are ones specially bred from past champions and exceptional Troll females. The Troll Champions stand at around ten feet tall and weigh in excess of 800lbs. They are faster, smarter and hit harder than their smaller cousins. withstanding hits of around 600 before they start to flag, these are much of a opponent than the normal Trolls, many an adventurer have fallen at the hands of these Champions.

Next in the heirachy are the Troll elders, these are the trolls who have lived long enough to gain wisdom about the lands. These Troll Elders although much more powerful than the normal Trolls, they are not as strong, large or pose as much as a risk as the troll Champions.

These are the minor members of the Troll Society. The major Trolls are not many in number and stay in their lairs surronded by a swarm of guards of many different races. The Troll Queen lives deep in Tranos dungeon and had surrounded herself with Trolls, mouthers and even has a Great Hydra taking care of her Protection.

The troll king is the leader of the Troll species. unfortunatley he is so well guarded I could not get near him to find out any information, although this in itself tells me a lot about him. Constantly paranoid about the threat of a attack he is so well guarded that he personal guard need rarely be bothered to defend him.

When looking at the wealth of the Trolls it is fairly easy that compared with other creatures of their stature in the land, the lower ranks are fairly well off, probably gold taken from poor adventurers that once filled their stomachs. Troll chamions being the best gold holders, on average 400gp is held by a Troll Champion, next is the ordinary Troll with between 100 and 200 gp to their name, Troll elders holding the least gold with only around 40gp.

Through many different pages of webs thrroughout the realm I have not been able to find any documented information about the Trolls although one page of webs did claim a distant relationship between Trolls and Oges, which personally I find acceptable. No drawings have been made to my knowledge of Trolls and all descriptions are from eye witness accounts alone.

Information on Trolls in the land is very sketchy, as I see for no reason there are numerous Trolls all around the lands and people battle them everyday. Maybe this scroll will give other people a base to study Trolls more in depth over a long period of time. More information about the Trolls may lead to less deaths of young adventurers and possibly less confrontation with Trolls. It would be a fine thing indeed if an agreement between the adventurers and Trolls could be made, but alas I do not see such a thing coming anytime soon.

Sun Child

The Sun Child who dwells in the Eastern part of Devardec in the grand palace is a mighty figure in the lands. His destiny is to become the Emporer of Devardec although at present he rules in situ.

He sits in the palace day by day, hoping to reward them who bring him items needed for his potions as he is a keen herbalist. Even though he can be enormously generous he is prone to morose moods and is capable of great punishment if someone angers him. Due to these moods and the fact that he is heir to the throne his is constantly protected by guards of the elite order and two immortals, Jupiter and Alvogl. Until his strange death some time ago, his protectors also included Themis.

In the Hallow month of last year a Knight dissatisfied with the Sun Child, and rumoured that he was on the recieving end of one of the childs tempers, led a revolt of around two thirds of the citizens of devardec. With his imoortal protectors elsewhere than in the lands the defence was left to his elite guard of 50. These guards soon fell and the Sun Child was in mortal danger. However one of last things ordered by the Captain of the guards before the gates were sealed by angry protestors, was that a message be sent to Tranos for help. As the Sun Child lay in danger, hudreds of Tranos guards arrived and quelled the rebellion.

All in all the Sun Child seems to be benevolent and a good leader, only dangerous if crossed or disturbed during one of his morose periods.

Story of Alexia

One fine hot summers day Alexia rode out of the city of devardec seeking adventure. due to the heat of the day Alexia wore only robes, boots and her helm, believing that this would be sufficient for the days task. After half a days unsatisfying hunting she looked up to the skies to see a strange object travelling past. To her eyes this looked as if a Wizard had created a flying mirror as the suns rays reflected of it as it made it's journey onwards to the North.

Seeing this a something to investigate Alexia followed the mirror from the ground, Soon the weather grew cooler as she headed into the Winter North mountains, wishing that she had worn warmer clothing she trudged on. Soon the cold and the constant travelling began to wear her down, holding the four stars that she wears around her neck she soon regained some strength for the onward journey.

Just as she began to flag again she saw the thing land on a plateau. Climbing up closer she heard a terrible scream and the sound of renting bones, rushing forward Alexia saw that the flying mirror was actually a HUGE Silver dragon, the screams coming from a small band of adventurers that were unlucky enough to be where the dragon had set down, making a light snack of the poor unfortunates the dragon must have moved on because by the time alexia had caught up it was gone.

Following the dragons tracks she soon came to a sheer cliff face, atop of which there was a cave. Quickly eating a femfendar paste she flew up to the mouth of the cave. Quietly stepping inside she saw the cave opened up into a HUGE cavern, with light reflected everywhere from the ice stalagmites and stalactites, to her mind it seemed like some hellish funhouse.
Moving on through the cave she soon happened across the Dragon. Hearing her arrival the dragon swung around to face Alexia. A raging titanic battle ensued, both sides refusing to retreat, the dragon clawing, biting and swishing it's tail back and forth like a dervish and alexia hacking and slicing at the creature. Soon Alexia realised that she was in trouble, the dragons skin was so tough, whenever she hit large lumps of ice came away, this 'armour' was replaced with the dragons next breath. Seeing no way to kill the dragon and seeking a way to wear it down Alexia retreated back and back, further into the cave. Things were going well until the stinging cold started to slow her down, her fingers and toes going numb in the unbearable cold. After an hour of battle more than half of Alexias body was covered in ice, and after 2 her left arm became numb and useless. Now unable to parry and too tired and cold to retreat effectively Alexia fell.

The story does not end here however. Six years on a group of adventurers belonging to the temple travelled to this cave and found Alexias body encased in a tomb of ice. The adventurers believing this body to be one of a battlemages lost two years previously dragged the ice out of the cave. It was then they realised their mistake and indeed who it was. Dragging the block of ice back to the temple, it was taken to Jupiters secret chambers and
placed in front of a warm fire to help the thaw, the adventurers gathered around waiting for the body to be free. Soon the ice had melted, but it seemed they had done so too quickly, for after six years encased in ice the sudden heat had killed Alexia. A druid was in the group, and quickly he stepped forward and healed Alexias wounds and then brought the power of life back into her body. That was the end of Alexias ordeal, apart from in her own words one gone heck of a cold..

The reasons that the Dragon did not kill Alexia? Maybe it was the ice covering her body, dragons may not like popsicles, maybe it was that he knew of her allegiance to Justice and did not dare kill one of Jupiters heros for fear of his retribution, or maybe it was that Alexia as she says is not just a piece of mortal dinnersnack. Whatever the reason she was spared. The attack although probably not lured there was intentional and the dragon meant
to hurt her. The dragon has not been seen since the attack and no others that I have spoken to have seen it before.

One thing is for certain, if Alexia does ever find that dragon again, there will be one heck of a rematch

Divine Stones

Shilaqua_pandoa says 'This is the Story of the Divine Stones and their creation.'
'Early in Terris history, Deori, being a kind and good natured god. Felt he would like to beautify the lands.'
'Further, so He created a moon. This moon, which glowed brightly, he hung in the heavens.'
'Vagma, ever coveting beauty and posessions wanted this moon for his own.'
'So he sent his forces into the heavens to capture the moon.'
'Deori, not wanting Vagma to possess this beauty attempted to thwart him, and accidentally caused'
'The moon to fall from the heavens.'
'The moon fell to Terris, and upon striking the lands burst into many pieces.'
'Deori, not wanting to see the beauty of his creation fade, blessed these pieces.'
'And to this day, Deori's priests search throughout the lands, asking for help to collect the stones.'
'Perhaps one day so that Deori can rebuild the moon, to hang once again within the haevens of Terris.'
'The end...'

Story of Alexia's Capture

Seeking to add to the Temples library my lord Aggron set me the task of interviewing the lady Alexia about her captivity and rescue. To my luck later that day Alexia entered the lands and I managed to speak to her. below is the story of he captivity, tis a story of good and evil, with a lot of ice thrown in,

12 Library Scrolls

#1
The scroll says...
Dear Mayor,

In times of harsh winter, I suggest that we stock up on food to help us over the periods when our crops do not produce. We should pack the stores with stable food like grain and rice, which should be done even in periods of rich harvest.

Hental, thinker of Hammerguild

#2
The scroll says...
Deori is a good-natured God. In time past, he created a moon that was formed from a magical rock. Vagma plotted against him and made the moon fall from the sky, breaking into hundreds of small rocks as it landed upon Terris. Deori's priests still search for the small chunks of rocks which are divine in the eyes of Deori's followers.

#3
The scroll says...
Junctions and rooms with many exits act like magnets to monsters. My best advice is to always make a stand in a room with as few exits as possible.

#4
The scroll says...
Not all quests are apparent, you should always search out areas to see if they hold vital clues.

#5
The scroll says...
The Monks have a hidden temple somewhere. I have collected rumours that it is a place that sells weapons that only monks can use.

#6
The scroll says...
Poor souls who get trapped on this plane have usually had a great wrong done to them. I came across a bell once that had the power to send the undead back to their final resting place.

#7
The scroll says...
A strange fruit is known to have a poison effect on slime. I have never seen this fruit but I assume it must react against the deadly, stunning poison that oozes from slime.

#8
The scroll says...
Vasari is the Goddess of many things - under her realm are the arts. They say that her priestesses are always looking for books, scrolls and candles to help them study.

#9
The scroll says...
The banderlang is a strange creature: it is known to be found in only one place and that is the deep stronghold of Hellegost. The creature is kept under lock and key. The Banderlang is very resistant to magic and the best defence is to attack it with normal weapons.

#10
The scroll says...
They say that the realm of Bellegost has many ways to gain entrance to it. I know from experience that the main gate can be very lethal.

#11
The scroll says...
The Sunchild is no lover of the foul Orcs that roam the land. It is said that he will reward people who bring him the carcass of the Orc leader.

#12
The scroll says...
The undead that roam the land of Terris are evil to the extreme; they feast upon the souls of poor adventurers that they come across. The lower undead are creatures like Zombies and Ghouls; these can be dispatched by the use of normal weapons, while the darker creatures like Spectres and Wraiths will require magical weapons.

Story of Jilin

For years I had wondered about the statue in Jupiter's office. I marveled at the stunning beauty and grace that this work of art posessed. I knew that she must have been very special to our Lord, for it is the only statue to grace his office.

I hoped that Lord Jupiter would impart some of his tale of her. I sat near the Statue of Brandon and he appeared. He was more than happy to share this story with us, and I hope that you all enjoy it!

"My Lord, the statue in your office, who is that?" I asked as I dipped my quill in the ink and prepared to scribe down the words.
"Her name was Jilin", he replied "my first wife."

"How did the two of you meet?" I asked.

Well, That one goes way back when I was in the Knight's Guild. This was back when the guilds were first formed and there were no leaders. Back when I was a mortal, prone to injury and heartache.

You see Jilin's family lived in Woodtop. They run the herb shop there. Jilin used to help her parents by picking herbs in the glades of the forest. But, she was always very strong headed and decided she would find more ingredients in the more dangerous parts of the forest. I happened to be hunting that day. It seems a large hungry troll had found her scent.

At this point, there was no way she could have fought off a troll, so she ran away. But, as always in these situations, she slipped and fell. I heard the sounds of the troll and heard her scream and came to investigate.

Luckily, I found the troll had not yet found her hiding in the bushes. I drew my sword and slew the foul beast. With the troll dead, I tried to get her to come out, but she wouldn't. I'm not exactly friendly looking I guess... But, I did not want to scare her more, so I put a knife i had in her backpack which had fallen on the ground near the bush, and I went on my way.

We found each other again by chance in the forest. I had a feeling that she would return there, and she had my knife.

We were together for quite a long time after that day. Probably three times longer than I have been with Shilana.

"But, M'Lord, What became of Jilin?"

He seemed to stiffen a bit at the question. He lowered his head and said "Well, I can only guess. I think that Vagma has something to do with her disappearance. One day, she was just gone. That was a difficult time, but I only have good memories."

With that he clapped his hands and disappeared in a cloud of puple smoke, leaving me to ponder the tale.

The Story of Deori's Cat

The story of Deori's cat is one of mystery, that many have never heard of. The first thing I noticed was that the relative obscurity of this myth, I contacted many people asking them if they had heard of it. Sadly the hadn't so I went ahead and asked Fae if she could give me a small hint to start me on my quest. She told me that a statue of Deori's cat lay in the depths of the Tranos dungeon. I had searched the dungeon extensively before this time and had not seen this statue before. I decided that this would be an adventure that I would not forget. I shortly said a prayer to Jupiter as I descended into the dungeon. I quickly noticed that the dungeon was sprawled out and that it was very drafty, I got my shield and held it close to my body as I wrapped my cloak around me and descended deeper into the dark dungeon.
As I explored the first level I noticed that the first level of the dungeon was mainly inhabited by ogres, orcs, and goblins, these monsters were quickly dispatched with one attack as I laughed my way through the first level I didn't encounter any statues. I came across a miner busily chipping away at the cavern he was in. I asked him if he had seen any sort of statue depicting the creator or his cat, he said he had heard rumors that it lay somewhere deep in the dungeon, I sighed and told him thanks and left quickly. I walked into a room filled with twisting vines and gigantic plants, as I tried to exit the room a vine rapped around my ankle sending me tumbling onto the ground, I clawed at the vine but it did not let go, I reached into my belt, withdrew a knife and cut the vine in half. As I did this I heard a shriek and a gigantic plant being rose up from the vines and started to snap at me.
I flashed a sly smile as I posed my self for attack, as the plant snapped at me I snapped a leg at it's stem temporarily stunning it, I then jumped and kicked the plant at the base of it's sepals, crushing the stem causing it to crash to the ground. I quickly left the room hoping that another beast wouldn't interrupt my leaving the room. In the next room I encountered a ladder down to the next level.
As I entered the second level I noticed that it was well lit, and that the same creatures seemed to inhabit it, but with more trolls than the previous. I wandered around for what seemed like forever before finding a secret entrance from almost the beginning of the dungeon, the entrance takes me to a room, where a band of trolls and spawns are camped.
I sneek up on them hoping to take them by suprise, as I get close enough to kill a spawn a gigantic ball of teeth fly's from out of nowhere and strikes me in the side of the head. I am reeled from the blow but quickly recover my bashing two spawn's heads together. I whip a spin kick bashing the side of a troll's skull in as I duck under the blow of two other trolls. I roundhouse the ball of teeth shattering it against the two other trolls as I make a run for the exit that I can see ahead of me.
I enter the third level hoping to find the statue, but it is nowhere to be found. I walk around until I am ambushed by a swarm of undead lead by a powerful looking ghoul. As I quickly dispach the horde the only one left is the leader, I grab him by the throat and tell him I will vanquish him to Worchester if he doesn't tell me where the statue of Deori's cat is, he just laughs as he tries to slash at me with his clawed hand, before his hand reaches me I smash my head ito his crushing the skull immediately. I leave west, the corpses of the undead left as a reminder of the might of Jupiter.
I reach the fourth level and wander around finding no statue, but I also saw a incredibaly large number of miner's who insist that the statue is on the next level. I thank them for their help and wander around till I find the next level beast. This beast is a gigantic colossus made of bronze who controlls a band of gargoyles. I quickly despatch the white ones because they can stun, but the collossus itself is almost a match for me. My blows almost see no effect so I quickly send a prayer to Jupiter and try to punch the giant in what appears to be a crack in the beast's form. As I send my fist flying it is surrounded by a blue aura and slams into the colossus sending it brawling to the ground with a gigantic hole in it's chest. I offer my thanks to Jupiter as I jump down the hole to the fifth level.
This level is so musty that I can barely stand the smell, I pull my hood down over my mouth to breathe some fresh air as I wonder through the level. I wander throughout never finding the statue but continue feeling like I was getting close to great evil. As I round a corner I am amased as I three headed giant runs at me swinging a club wildly. I jump out of the way and see what I am up against. This giant had a vast army of giants, hydras, and ettins, that astonished me. I bashed my way through 2 hydras and 3 huge giants before the 3-header eventually smashes me with his club, the large spike puncturing my helmet sending me falling on the ground, I die instantly. I did not find out much about the cat itself but I did learn what it means to be a scholar, to learn all that you can about the things of Justice and to record everything you can see.

A warm breeze drifted through the Room of Record, high above this huge chamber, a small honeybee flies toward the manual driven fan in the center of the room. Impetus sat, scribbling notes at his small but prestige desk in the far corner, his quill barely lifting from the parchment. He stops, head lifting and looking behind him, Shilaqua, Mauro1 and Salamander all look at Fae as she steps into the room with a slight frown atop her brow.

"May I ask why we are out of parchment paper?" she states. Shilaqua perks up, "Ermwe are?"

Fae strides across the room with haste in her step as she makes her way to the supplies cupboard. Fae twists on the spot and peers at the people present, with that she throws the cupboard door open. A large moth makes exit from the empty void, Fae strikes her hand down squashing the insect flat upon the cupboard top. Looking over Mauro1 winces as Fae lifts her hand from the top. Remains of the moth cling to her hand, she scraps it off on a spare desk near her.

"Fae?" asks Impetus, "What's chewing you out?" "What's Chewing me out?!" screams Fae, "What's chewing me out!, I'll tell you what's chewing me out, that fact that you people sit in here all day, and not one of you have the initiate to get out there and restock our supplies."

Impetus swings around in his leather chair and stomps his feet firmly on the floor.

"Shilaqua, mind if I go out and get supplies?, anything to get me out of here for a while, Fae looks like she's gonna burst like a balloon".
"WHAT?!?!" screams Fae.
"Erm, I said that maybe we could brighten this place up with a few Balloons", mumbles Impetus attempting to cover up his comment.

Fae peers at Impetus, with that Impetus makes haste toward the exit, grabbing his backpack on the way out.

"Phew", mutters Impetus to himself, and leaves the Halls of Justice. Normally Impetus would gaze at the statues on his way out. This time he just rushes straight out of the halls on to Justice Way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inset.

As all scribes know, to be able to document anything, you require a writing utensil. This could be in the form of your finger in the sand, a branch scribing with mud or for a more prestige way of scribing, the use of a less primitive instrument like a pen or a quill.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Impetus looks around the street, peering north and south. Activity is a mass south of his standing; he stands looking on at the merchants selling goods along the streets. A town guard stops before Impetus, he switches the hand in which his pike is held before continuing on his patrol of the city. The other side of Justice Way, a meat merchant shouts the price of his produce creating interest from the town's folk. Impetus's eyes open wide as he notices a large bird hanging lifeless from the merchants stall, its body limp and featherless.

"AHA," cries Impetus, people turn and peer at him then start to giggle, Impetus blushes a little realizing the noise he had just made. Impetus quickly heads south toward the city plaza.

More stalls line the town square of Devardec, merchants calling out their 'Bargains' attempting to make a profit from their in some cases poor quality wares. Impetus ponders for a moment, not sure about his surroundings, things just seemed different to him. This had been his hometown for the greater part of his life, but he had never really seen it as busy as it was this day. Impetus shrugs leaving the plaza to the West.

The Circle is a quiet road leading to the plaza, its stretch shadowed by a huge tower, its cladding black, a sight not welcoming to most. Impetus hurries along this stretch, passing a well that seemed to be collapsing. A strange odor greets his nose, a slight cringe crosses Impetus's face. He walks past pushing between the workmen standing there.

Reaching the far end of the circle Impetus looks back, from here the tower seems even bigger though he had just passed by it moments ago. The smell that greeted Impetus seemed to get stronger here, the smell itself not a nasty smell, but one of fresh death, that of a battle over with blood aplenty. Impetus looks down at the gutter; a faint red stream runs into the sewer grid. Impetus drops to one knee, a small twig snaps under his weight. Looking at the run of liquid Impetus dabs a finger into the slow moving stream, raising to his face, he raises an eyebrow. Blood.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inset.

Blood being universal, can aid a scribe in writing. Dipping their pen into blood allows the scribe to transfer his ideas to paper. Blood being thicker then water gives the scribe a great tool as the blood holds to his nib better then most other substances. The downside is that this method is crude. It also involves pain for someone or something to attain such a substance. This alone will make some people search for something equivalent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Impetus pulls up off his knee and stares up the street, few people stand around but those that do just seem to be loitering. Impetus looks up at the street sign here, is hangs from a house at an angle. Impetus walks slowly up Yew Street looking for the source of the blood. He looks onward, the stream getting wider and wider. Further up the street the flow takes a sharp turn to the East, where a drain exits a small butchers shop. Impetus looks up at the sign. "'Sid's Meats', hmmm' nice name," whispers Impetus.

Impetus opens the shop door; a small tinkle is heard. Impetus looks above the door and sees a small mobile hanging from the ceiling that acts as an alarm to make the shop owner aware that someone has entered the shop. The shop for a moment is void of people; Impetus quickly takes in the room's contents in an eyeful. All various meats and poultry adorn the shops counter spread some of which Impetus did not seem to recognize. A large man enters from an even larger door to the back of the shop.
"Mornin' Sir 'ow can 'a help 'ya?" asks the butcher. "Actually, I was wondering if I could have a few of the leftovers from your slaughter?" says Impetus politely. "Damn, another beggar, ma' leftovers are fur' 'me dog Brutus, 'ya wanna' meet 'da little bugger?" snaps the butcher. "Nah, your okay, I was thinking more along the lines of some game feathers and some animal blood" replies Impetus, "Unless of course ya' mutt eats them also."
The Butcher grins slyly, "You're a funny guy," he announces, "sure the slaughter house is out back, help ya' self, but I'll be checkin' 'ya pockets as 'ya leave." "No problem", replies Impetus and heads through the door that the butcher entered from.

More meat. All around the back room, meat lines the benches here. Two men stagger in carrying huge bags a salt, obviously for preservation of the meats, there is no way a town could eat all this meat in the time it would take for this animal flesh to spoil.

Impetus moves slowly over to the poultry section avoiding odd bits of animal scattered on the floor. He sees a huge bird hung here by its feet, obviously dead as a doornail. Impetus shakes his head, he cant make out what type of bird it is, but one thing is sure, judging by the number of wounds to its body, this bird did not go down without a furious fight. Below the hanging corpse, a large pile of feathers blows around the area, a small draft from a rear exit fueling their movement. Impetus stares at the pile as the smaller feathers blow clear. Larger feathers become visible. Seeing this, Impetus quickly rummages within the pile pulling out various sizes of feather, he examines them carefully. Before long, a small pile forms at the side of Impetus containing choice selections of the best feathers that could be used as writing instruments.

Impetus stands up. At the same time he collects together the feathers he had picked out of the now rather messy pile. Taking a piece of twine he ties them together taking care not to break or damage the spine of the feathers. He smiles as he places them carefully into his backpack.

From the backpack Impetus produces a small tub. Rounded and tall the tub, black in colour has a lid that covers it top preventing any content from spilling in transit. A large mammal hangs from its hind legs at the center of the room. Freshly slaughtered, its neck bears a large open gash, blood trickles from the wound. Impetus places his pot under the slow blood trickle, the liquid spilling slightly onto his hand. Impetus stands again, wiping the blood from his hand with a dirty cloth from one of the benches near his left. Soon the pot is full to overflowing; Impetus quickly takes the pot from its place within the stream of blood and wipes the slight spillage off the side of the pot. Carefully the lid is replaced and checked to make sure it's firmly on. Impetus slides it into his backpack.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inset.

As with any writing instrument, you require something to write upon. Unfortunately finding such an item can prove quite difficult. Most will use any item, but those who prefer fine writing also prefer finery to write upon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Impetus is a hard looking fellow, battle is nothing he's new to, just to look at him you would know he's fought many battles. A warrior, well maybe, a fighter, he can be.

Towers are plenty in the land, but none are more notorious then the tower upon Mount Grentos. This mountain is one of the highest in Terris. Legend has it that long ago during the great god wars, that this mountain was formed by the body of a god that fell during battle.

Impetus starts up the side of Grentos. Climbing, rocks fall behind Impetus as his altitude increases. Less and less vegetation is visible as the mountain peak comes closer and closer. A slip forces Impetus to grab onto a large sharp rock, he lets out a scream as it cuts into his hand. Closing his eyes, his mind shutting off to the pain, Impetus pulls himself back onto the mountain face. He stops, warm blood dribbles down his hand. Impetus mutters, tearing some cloth from the bottom of his cloak, he raps his hand tightly.

His ascent is completed; Impetus drops to the ground to rest his tired body. Gazing out, the whole West Side of the land can be seen. The view is breathe-taking. Impetus turns; looking up at the tower that is atop the great mountain. A huge dark throne stands high here, below it a large doorway consisting of two wooden doors lead the way into the tower. Impetus opens one of the doors, peering into the darkness he steps in.

A foe of a greater stature then Varnius the Dark are few and far between. On this day, Impetus feels calling at his tower; particularly his study for supplies is a good idea. All around Impetus as he stands as the base of the tower stand large gargoyles. A gargoyle's purpose is to ward off evil spirits, but in this case it seems possible these Gargoyles are to keep evil spirits in. Impetus steps into the dark. Cobwebs stroke his face, sticking slightly forcing Impetus to brush his face frequently.
A great staircase aids Impetus upward toward the height of the tower, around him from here bears nothing of interest, an iron roof and hallways with floors well worn from many, many years of use. Impetus completes his climb.

Sliding his bow from his shoulder, Impetus drops his quiver of arrows onto his forearm allowing him quick access to his next missile. He slowly pushes the door to Varnius' study open, a small light from inside shines out. With an all mighty bang, Impetus kicks the door open with a surprise attack. He aims his arrow directly at Varnius and hits knocking Varnius to the floor. Quickly breaking down the minions in the room, Impetus drops his bow; Varnius clambers back to his feet.

"How dare you come here," booms Varnius, "you will pay for your trespass!"

Impetus advances toward Varnius striking him, blow are exchanged, blood flows from both man and beast. Impetus falls to the ground, body beaten, but still fighting, Varnius advances on the fallen fighter. Impetus rolls away from an attack and reaches for his dagger kept at his ankle in a brace. Varnius jumps at Impetus landing a huge blow to Impetus's head, in return Impetus thrusts his dagger deep into Varnius' heart, the beast falls upon Impetus. With a heave Impetus pushes the corpse off him and sits up in a corner gasping for air. His face blood covered his body and armor torn with the battle he pulls himself up.

Holding one of his larger wounds, Impetus staggers toward a large desk toward the back of the study. Impetus flops into a great leather chair, black in colour. He fumbles with the items on the desk. Finding nothing of note, he pulls open a draw below the desktop.

"AHA," cries Impetus, "guess you wont be needed these now," mocks Impetus pulling out a large pile of parchment paper from the draw. Carefully putting the paper into his backpack, Impetus starts to chuckle, then stops giving out a gasp, "Gee it hurt to laugh."

Impetus stands, then sits back down, "Hmm," he drones, "nice chair, guess ya won't be needed this either, huh Varnius?" With that Impetus drags the chair toward his falcon. With a mighty life, he places the chair onto the back of his Falcon, strapping it down. "Well, if you don't need it, I can always make use of it, the chair Shilaqua gave me is terribly lumpy." Chortles Impetus as he climbs aboard his mount. "Home, Huck, make haste". With that Impetus digs his heals into his falcon, which responds by spreading its huge wings and taking to the air.

Impetus dismounts outside the Halls of Justice, and walks through gazing at the statues that line the walls before stepping into the Room of Record.

"Dear Deori!" cries out Shilaqua as he witnesses the state that Impetus returns, "You look as though you have just fought a war, and lost!"
"It feels like it Shilaqua," replies Impetus, "but I did get this great chair!"

Fae pops her head up from under her desk, "And the supplies?!?!" Impetus looks over at Fae, "Oh yeah, them, here ya go", with that Impetus turns his Pack upside down. The supplies he had collected fall to the floor in a large pile, Impetus smiles. "I hope ya gonna clean up that mess Impetus!" shout's Fae striding over to Impetus. With that Impetus flops to the floor, "Just kidding Impetus" Smirks Fae as she pats Impetus on the back.
