"Protect, Ascribe and Watch"
Justice is the essence of upholding the law. We believe that
respect is the virtue by which we render honour and the
practical conformity to human or divine law. We Protect the
innocent,Ascribe the law and Watch the lands and it's citizens.
The Defenders are the soldiers of Justice, involved mainly in
the protection of a Temple who's very nature attracts enemies
from all corners. They are master strategists and warriors,
alone or in a group and always ready to be called to defend
Terrisian citizens.
The Scholars record historical events and temple data.
Interpret all information gathered and advise accordingly.
Fluent in many languages, runes, and symbols, they research
and interpret cryptic messages and are responsible for the
Library's scrolls ensuring they survive for future generations.
The JIA form a branch of Justice who live their lives seeking
information and investigating any rumour that comes to their
attention. Their invaluable services are at the forefront of
Justice and warns of any possible problems so keeping Justice
with it's finger firmly on the pulse of Terrisian life.
We are the Lion's PAW of Justice. Our Heart and Soul is our
belief in morally just conduct and integrity and know that what
may be strictly legal is at times far from equitable or just.
We shall Protect, we shall Ascribe, we shall Watch.

Introduction I
The following definitive scroll has been amalgamated from the research of Shilaqua_pandoa and
Crux. The editing and Recipe by Fae.
Introduction II
The scrolls are our most precious and vital resource. Their preservation, storage, and protection is therefore of the utmost importance, not only to our temple, but indeed to all current and future generations that may benefit from the knowledge, history, and wisdom they hold. The method and materials, such as the inks, paints, leather and paper components, influence long-term stability of archival items. Providing good environment, safe handling and storage conditions are critical to their preservation.
I. Handling of Scrolls.
a) Only divine or gloved hands are allowed to come into
contact with an archived scroll.
b) Security levels are assigned to all archived scrolls. Only scrolls with a security level equal to, or
less than your own will be available for viewing.
c) No archived scrolls shall ever be removed from the archive without the permission of Jupiter, or a
temple hero. No exceptions.
d) All scrolls should be checked for wear and damage at the time they are viewed. A Keeper of the
Scrolls should be notified immediately if a damaged or worn scroll is found.
e) If a copy of a particular scroll is needed, please contact a Keeper of the Scrolls who will submit
your request to a Branch Leader. If your request is approved, you will be notified of the time
needed to prepare the copy.
f) Scrolls may occasionally need a coating of oil (Recipe later) to keeps the scrolls supple and pliant.
II. Copying Scrolls
a) All copies of archived scrolls shall be made on regular parchment unless otherwise specified.
b) Other materials are available for scrolls as follows:
Wolf skin. Very supple and smooth. Excellent for ceremonial scrolls. Stored in a cabinet or
vault.
Boar skin Strong and durable. Best for scrolls that are to be carried on ones self, or in a
pack.
Dragon hide. Very tough but ink resistant. Best for painted decorative scrolls that may be on
display, not rolled. Its stiffness and rigidity makes it quite unsuitable for efficient storage
and manipulation.
Bear skin strong, durable and long lasting. Best for archived scrolls. Very accepting of ink
and longest lasting of all skins I have found to date.
c) Ink to be used on the scrolls shall be a 10 to 1 mixture of Wyverns blood and ground lead. The
mixture is heated until thickened to a sufficient level to apply.
d) A sharpened eagles feather is sufficient to scribe the ink into the skin of choice. incomplete
scrolls should be left open for at least 2 days. This will set the ink permanently into the skin.
e) After scribing is complete, the scroll should be allowed to dry for at least 5 days. It should then
be sufficiently dry to apply a coating of the following Recipe. This special oil must also be used
on aged and deteriorating hides. The following recipe is secret to all Scholars of Justice and Lord
Jupiter.
Scholar's Recipe of Anointing
5 parts Lanolin
1 part Mar'larane Oil
2 part Glowing Eparch Oil
2 parts Cedar Oil
Method: Use only a Wyvern feather brush and apply oil evenly and sparingly to the hide. If particularly dry, the hide may need a further application after a day to allow the previous application to have fully soaked into the hide. DO NOT use the oil to the point of saturation or leave any pools of oil on the hide. Every bit you apply must immediately soak in. The Hide will appear quite a lot darker but it is necessary to keep the scroll malleable. The completed hide can then be rolled and tied.
III. Shilaqua's Notes on The Maintenance of Suitable Conditions
a) Relative Humidity and Temperature
Store paper materials in dark, cool, relatively dry locations. Aim for 35% relative humidity. Avoid light, heat and dampness. Maintain a steady temperature. High humidity can lead to the development of foxing (small brown disfiguring spots in paper) or mould growth.
b) Lighting
Most paper items are susceptible to damage from Terrisviolet, visible light and magic wands. It should be eliminated by using filtering glazing in frames specially treated and dipped in 'Sun Lake', or Gossamer filters over windows. The intensity and length of exposure to the above forms of light on paper items should be reduced as much as possible. Scrolls, should be stored away from the light as much as possible to avoid fading and/or yellowing.
c) Pollution, Dust and Pests
Pollutants, such as fumes from fires, blacksmith shops, bloodbeasts, T-Rex and heating systems can cause damage to paper. Paper materials should be protected from dust and dirt. Monitor for evidence of rodents and insects, such as Quiverfish, book lice and book worms, which can eat, soil and damage parchment.
d) Storage
It is best to store parchment flat. The stiffness of the storage folder or box should provide adequate support to the item(s) in storage and transport. Since acidity migrates, acidic storage materials such as Giant Skulls should be avoided.
e) Damaged Paper Items
If a flat paper item becomes mouldy or wet, isolate it from other materials and dry it with warm circulating air.
IV. Crux's Notes on the Preservation of Scrolls.
I found a bear carcass in the icy southern mountains of Auriga. The combination of dryness and cold had stopped deterioration of the hide completely. I took samples and began to experiment with the hide. The hide held the ink well. Armed with my insight, and knowledge I take this opportunity to make some recommendations that will insure the safety, and preservation of our most sacred resources:
V. Recommendations.
The current temple archives are sufficient for our purposes, however, we must be aware that nature is not the only threat to the scrolls. As the halls are open to the public, there will always exist the possibility of an invasion. If the scrolls are destroyed, they cannot be replaced.
a) I recommend that we immediately set to work on copying every scroll in our archive starting with the oldest. This will take some time, but nothing is more valuable to us than the stores of knowledge and wisdom the scrolls hold.
b) All scrolls shall be copied onto bear hide, and scribed with leadened ink. This will insure at least several hundred years of storage capability.
c) I further recommend that we ask M'Lord Jupiter to look into the possibility of constructing a new archive, at a secondary location. It should be high in the mountains, and cold year round. The purpose of the cold is two-fold. To stop contamination by moisture and also to preserve the integrity of the skins. All new bear skin copies shall be stored here. (location currently under surveillance)
d) The archive should be located strategically so that it may be defended well. The importance of this is obvious. Should our temple be invaded, we would immediately fall back to protect our secondary location.
e) I would also suggest, if this recommendation is implemented, that we form a committee to discuss how to safely transport the scrolls from the temple, to this secondary location.
VI. Closing.
May you study the scrolls and learn from them well...(Crux)
Here's my Ink which I have to say I'm rather proud of, I spent along time thinking about it and asked my marm and dad's advice about love, then went to the Waterfall behind the vines to contemplate. I tried it out on my dad's step brother Crux and, well, now he's my husband . So I guarantee it works.
I hope it meets with your approval. ..........Crux's Lil Lady Friana
