Rank holds much honor and prestige in this Branch. They are a sign of a Scholar's hard work and dedication to the temple. Plus we offer honor to our temple through this sacrifice of hard labor.

To gain yer first rank, ye must seek out a Mentored Scholar in the temple and speak with them concerning the guidelines for obtaining the rank of Scribe of Scrolls. Once ye have the sponsorship of a Mentored Scholar, ye may then approach a Sage for an interview. Remember this though. The interview process can take days to complete. 'Tis nae something to be rushed through and yer patience will lend itself well to yer interview." Any quests given to ye must be kept secret and done by yourself without any help.

With each rank comes a title, given by only after ye have been awarded that rank by The Dean of Judgment.

Overview of Ranks:
This system was created to prepare each scholar to take a place of position & Leadership.

The first three ranks are a joint group of scholars known as the scribes. These member will work on excelling with one of the three areas of study: Scrolls, Runes, and Words (Languages, Decryption). They directly show their work and receive their Quests from a Mentored Scholar, who is known as their overseer.
It is the Mentored Scholars job as an overseer to teach the scribes everything about the three areas of study, and to prepare them for the final task of replacing his position. For a Mentored Scholar to move on to a Sage position he must find a Scribe who is worthy of replacing his position as he leaves to become a sage.
There are many responsibilities as a Sage.
1) To use their superior knowledge in cases of Law (court cases).
2) They will be the ones that search the land for worthy men and women of Justice. Their seasoned ability to judge character gives them the eyes to find these young scholars-to-be.
3) They have the ability to vote on Branch matters.
4) They will have the choice to continue their study of law into whatever area they wish in the future.
5) To decide if a student of Justice is ready and worthy to join the branch of Scholars.
6) They will hold the secrets of the Branch: including the position of the back-up files, secret recipes, ancient texts, and forbidden languages.
7) They are the ones that create and commence with the events in the Branch

***Only a Sage can progress to a position in the Review Board.


The Scribe of Scrolls

This is the first rank of Scholars. This does not, however, signify any weakness of character or spirit. They are known for their skills with the Scrolls, Parchment, oils and Writing ability. Commonly, they are the recorders of the temple, working together with the Mentored Scholars to create projects and research. To gain entrance into the Rank one must have the sponsorship of a Mentored Scholar, give a character background to a Sage and complete the Quest from that Sage.

The Scribe of Runes

This is the second rank possible in the Temple. This is, indeed, a favorite rank among many in the Branch as they are known for their innate curiosity and stunning array of new (and oftentimes useless) spells & Arrangement of magic Rune writing. They live for the symbols and combine them for the pure joy of it. As their name implies, they make runes and arrange them together to attain the desired affect. Because they are still a bit young, many a Scribe of Runes have been rescued from the very brink of magical suicide by a watchful Mentored Scholar. To gain entrance into this Rank, ye must submit a scroll detailing yer discovery of a new symbolic rune, and an arrangement of runes creating a spell to a Mentored Scholar and complete the Quest required from that Mentored Scholar. Also within their studies there will be a scroll required that pertains to History and one on Geography.

The Scribe of Words

This is the third rank of Scholars. They are known for their skills with Decryption, languages, and ancient texts. Commonly, they are the ones that make no sense (since they spend their time in garbled writing and lost words), speak in elevated diction, and are somewhat mundane. To gain entrance into the Rank one must give a scroll detailing a new language or decryption technique, and complete the Quest from that Mentored Scholar. Within this rank the scribe will also be requested to do work in Lore & another scroll pertaining to History.

The Mentored Scholar

This is the fourth rank of Scholars. They are known for skills in all the three areas of study. Their have perfected they're skills and have learned the value and lessons of law. They have begun the road to leadership and strong responsibility. Trust between the Sages begins now. They are the ones that teach and tutor the younger or less knowledgeable scribes. To gain entrance into the Rank one must teach a Scribe the Mentored Scholar's position and prepare them to take it over, and complete a quest from the higher Sages.

The Justice Professor

This is the Fifth rank possible in the Temple. It is a very esteemed position and is the highest that most Scholars will ever achieve. The Scholars are those who have contributed much to the Temple and have become wise in its branch teachings and ways. They watch over the younger Ranks with pride (and sometimes exasperation in the Scribe of Rune's case) These are yer Guild Brethren who have mastered the most treasured aspect of our Teachings: That of the ability to Carry the Law. They know it inside and out, top to bottom. While they may not know all types of law, they have some knowledge of each types.

They are great mentors and commonly are chosen for important tasks or events. To gain entrance into this Rank ye must submit a detailed plan for the branch event to the Review Board and complete the quest from them.

The Doctor of Law

This is a coveted position that all Scholars should strive for, but only a select few will achieve. It is the highest rank possible in the Branch and possesses many powers and responsibilities. They are the leaders of the Temple, under the Review Board themselves. They have a large role in the interpretation of law, and in the organization of activities within the branch. Doctors of Law should be seen as role model Scholars. To gain entrance to this rank, ye must have the sponsorship of The Review Board and submit a written proposal detailing yer opinion of this Temple/Branch and ideas on what can be done to approve it. Entrance into this rank is done only by the Dean of Judgment and further requirements must be received from him/her.

One must go through the ranks in order. If ye wish to be a Scribe of Runes, ye must first prove yourself as Scribe of Scrolls. Ye are not however, required to move up. Ye may stay in any rank ye choose (for role-play) to continue that knowledge.

This is more so in the lower ranks than in the higher ranks. Don't feel like a failure if a Sage or The Review Board tells ye that ye need a bit more experience. Any questions may be directed towards the Sages or Review Board.
