Shy does not know her real parents the only clue is a tattoo, which only three other people have seen. She was a survivor of a shipwreck, which washed her up on the beach just outside of Tranos. There she was found by an Elf ranger who was looking for her husband. She took Shy in and over the years came to love Shy as her own (her husband was never found believed to have been killed by some outlaws). Gladriel was her name and she taught Shy the ways of her people and introduced her to many of the other tribes that were abundant in the lands even teaching her some of the languages as she grew up.
In all the time Shy was with Gladriel, she never wondered about her past life until the fateful day Gladriel never returned from a foraging trip. Shy was nearly 18 by now and had grown into the woman she is now. Strong in arm and heart Shy donned the leather armour she had been given, took up her dagger and went looking for Gladriel. Shy wandered the lands for weeks nearly starving to death as food became harder to find in the mountains. One day spying a city in the distance she made her way northwards only to be jumped on by two Ogres. Shy was no match for these in her weakened state and had realised she was about to die. Shrieking a battlecry at the top of her voice, she attacked. It took a moment to realise that there was now only one Ogre the other lay dead. A warrior stood facing the other soon plunging a strange sword into it. Shy had been rescued by Darden a Battlemage mentor who after healing Shy's wounds explained the ways of the Battlemage. Shy has never looked back joining the Guild as soon as she completed the quest happy knowing that once more she is surrounded by friends and love.
My mother was a giant. Not one of the mean ones in the giant lair, nor the stupid frosted ones, nor the ones on the plane of fire. She lived far north of Terris, on a cold continent of ice. She had been one of the few descendants of Lenin that survived the end of his reign, when the children of Lenin were hunted down as animals to make trophies for the rivaling giant clans. My mother, Que'lan was at the age of five when she was rescued by the giant owls that saved Lenin's legacy, and was sent far far away. She was adopted by a clan of ogres living up north, and raised as one of them.
She soon grew fond of the Chieftain's son (by the name of Dallor), and they were wed. She then bore her only son, and combined the names of her and her husband, as was the custom, and they created Dallan. I grew up like most normal ogres, except that because of the crossbreed, I seemed to be shorter than most (don't ask why). But I was at least twice as strong as the others, and they mocked me for not being "normal". At the age of 16 or so, my mother died (scribe's note: Dallan breaks down crying at this point).
A month or so later, a giant owl swept in from the south, and demanded to speak to my mother. The chieftain at the time (Dallan's father) told the owl that his wife had just died, but that she may speak to Dallan instead. The owl agreed, and Dallan was led to the owl. The owl said that Dallan must return to his homelands, and told him that his home was Terris, and not this cold wasteland. So Dallan reluctantly agreed, taking along his small ice axe along with some food, and the owl flew off with Dallan on her back.
After about a year or so of difficult travel, I made it to my new home- Devardec. I felt out of place with all the people, and the heat and smells. The owl sent me to a shopkeeper who would be my master for a year. He had retired from being a knight, and showed me the basics of fighting, gave me room and board, in return for work. I worked hard for that year, and in the end, the shopkeeper sent me off with 500 gold to make my fortune in the world.
Eventually, after being turned down by the knights for being too uncivilized, and not knowing any etiquette at all, I grew desperate. I heard of a town that had been destroyed was being rebuilt, and decided to travel there. I saw this man in front of the largest building I had seen in that town, and greeted him. He offered me a bit of his troll's heart, and laughed when I turned a little green in the face. He said (scribes note: this is how Dallan said the man said it), "So, yoos doan wanna eat 'dis? Weel, Yoos'll soon grow ta love it, if ya want ta join our clan. If yoos kill an' ogre, I may make ya a barb. Ya doan fit in any other guild."
So Dallan set forth on one of his first major quests. Kill an ogre. After a long struggle, Dallan managed to slay the ogre using his bare hands, and his puny little ice pick, and practically ran back to the guild. "Mr Barb! Me kill dat ogre real good, jus' like yoos say Dallan should!" The barbarian looked at Dallan's blood spattered armour and said, "Yup, dat looks like ogre blood. Good job boy, now go talk to da big tall barb to the east, an' he'll teach yoos some stuff free of charge!" With that he grins, and tosses Dallan a troll's heart. Welcome home, barb!"
