Evaine wanders in from the kitchen, a mug of klah in one hand and a pile of fabric precariously perched on her other arm. Tasmin has arrived. Kylee strolls in through the archway from the teaching wing. Evaine dumps the fabric onto a clear spot at a table and sits down, sipping at her klah. Kylee waves at Tasmin and Evaine. Evaine smiles and waves with her free hand. "Hi there." Tasmin gets naked and puts on his Opa-appreciation costume. Tasmin gets klah and puts on a happy face. Broccal steps in through the archway from the teaching wing. Kelay strolls in through the archway from the teaching wing. Canona has arrived. Kelay runs to find a seat Evaine sets her klah down and rustles around in the pile of fabric before finding a needle and thread. Varina ambles in through the archway from the teaching wing. Evaine waves and smiles to everyone as they come in. "Evening, Master Opa." Tasmin has a seat, and, for the first time in recent memory, someone on his lap. (gasps!) Evaine adds. "And Master Varina." Broccal walks over toward Tasmin. Canona has left. Kelay smiles as Canona flies over and lands on her shoulder. Tasmin waves at Broc, "Hey, bub." Opa comes in brushing red fluff off from all over the front of her shift. She smiles around to everyone and nods to those who greet her. Broccal tries hard not to frown at Tasmin. He settles for a resigned head shake. "You've signed up for the loom maintenance class, haven't you?" Kelay nods hellos around the room Tasmin scratches his head, "Loom maintance? I thought the only thing we had 'round here was -loons-.." He winks, then adds, "Nope. I didn't sign up for it. I'm thinkin' bout a big change. I mean, I love makin' dresses and such, but I'd like something more.. more.. more .. er.. masculine?" Evaine manages to find the two edges of fabric she wanted and starts sewing, idly watching and listening to everyone around her. Varina enters with her young toddler in tow. She passes the small girl to the young girl who cares for her before taking a seat at the table. Broccal chuckles. "How about tapestries or rugs? Can't get much more masculine than a nice thick wall tapestry to keep out the cold." Opa begins to lower herself into her seat when she catches a snippet of conversation, and looks over towards Tasmin and Broccal with a quirked eyebrow. Tasmin mmms, "I chose dressmaking because I figured it'd force pretty girls to undress to try my creations on.. but all they seem to do is take one look and run.." Broccal quirks a smirk. "One look at you or at your attempt at a dress?" Tasmin gets that twinkle, "Think I could immortalize them in tapestry without excessive clothing? Or are the masters sticklers for that sorta thing.." Tasmin winces, "Both." Tasmin whispers, "I once made a handfasting dress someone said wasn't suitible to hold a peck of tubers.." Broccal shrugs gaulically. "If you find a buyer, I reckon Opa wouldn't mind." Kylee grins and wonders if that fever she thought Tasmin had has addled his brains. Kelay rises a cup of klah to her mouth and sips, inwardly shaking her head at Tasmin. Tasmin glances up at Opa, blushes, then starts thinking. (Mentally undressing the craftermaster, no. But who can tell. He's having a rather high-hormone day, it'd seem.) Opa closes her eyes, as of one attempting to conjure up great patience, then shakes her head and sits down completely, smiling good evening over to Varina. Broccal's left eye twitches as he notices Tasmin's glance and steps between him and the craftmaster. He bends closer to whisper something ominous about undressing craftmasters. Evaine grrs and picks out her stiches as she manages to completely misalign the patterns in the fabric. Tasmin shrugs, then retorts to Broccal, "Like you've never..." Broccal shrugs again. "Oh, well, sure, but it's one thing to be blatant, and another to be so... so.. RUDE!" The drudges enter from the kitchen with their usual platters filled to overflowing with steaming food. However, this time it is not the smell of fish which hits your nostrils, but that of cheese omelets and herdbeast dinner. Varina flashes a tired grin at Opa then turns her attention to the incoming food. Tasmin suddenly gets an idea and says just a bit on the loud side, "Well, it -is- amazing how wonderful Varina looks, and Rain too." That'll hold 'em. :) Kelay smiles at the meal choices for tonight Broccal shakes his head and gives up. "I'll talk to you later, Tasmin." Tasmin waves off Broccal. Tasmin waits for -food-. Opa notes the tired smile and lets out a breath as she serves herself some herdbeast. "You, too? I've been cutting patterns and arranging new designs all day." Broccal walks over to the journeyrank tables, eye still twitching. Kylee sits down at the apprentice table. Kelay breaths deeply drawing in the scents and closes her eys, "Hmmm" Long distance to N'ren: Opa will admit she can appreciate the distinction. :) Evaine sets aside her project when she sees the food brought in. She scoots over a bit+chat wvr=:grins at Trie and Beld. "Nah, can't be. I'm here and I always miss meetings. ;) Weavers> Opa suddenly realises she forgot to +bbpost the meeting reminder last week. Arrrrg. Weavers> Evaine gahs and thwaps her typist. Varina pauses to fill her plate, and sighs, "I left the door to my closet open and that lil rascal," she nods towards her daughter who is picking food of her caretaker's plate, "emptied the closet in about the time it takes to between from here to Benden." Opa pales, her fork halting halfway to her mouth as her head swivels to regard the child. "Oh. Oh, *no*." Tasmin waits for some food to filter down his way. First, an empty tray of herdbeast, then nothing but the really smelly cheese. Conspiracy, I bet. Tasmin peers at poor, lonely, sad Broccal, and makes eyecontact. Opa shudders at the very thought, then tries to turn her attention back to the hall. She manages a smile. "Well...it's good to see you all here, we seem to have some hearty appetites tonight." Varina nods emphatically. "Unfolding all the bolts as she did, of course," then quiets herself as Opa beings adressing the folks. Tasmin sneaks over to the Journeyrank tables, sitting on Broccal's lap and trying his best to look like Jorai. Well, not perfectly, but what can he do, he's only Tasmin! Broccal stares at his plate, dumbfounded that we're not having fish for two dinners in a row. And because he's got a Tasmin in his lap. Weavers> Varina sighs. Sorry if I'm slow again folks. As usual it's not the best time of night for me to concentrate on RP. Kylee tries not to choke on her food. Evaine munches away as she listens quietly to Master Opa. Broccal leans back to stare at Tasmin. "Can I help you?" Tasmin ahms softly, "C'mon, you know the rule about kissing during the meetings, don't you? Just eat, we'll save that for later!" Opa can't help wincing at Varina's last remark and she pauses in her oratory to look back at the Craftsecond. "Shells and stars...did you get it all cleaned up? I'd be happy to help after dinner, if you need." Broccal opens his mouth then closes it a couple of times. Finally, he thinks he's got something to say, "I thought you were trying to get girls, Tasmin." Tasmin nods and snatches a roll from the table, "Yah, but I've never been picky." Kylee winks, "He can't get any so he's heading for the next best thing, sir." Broccal guffaws at Kylee's remark. He gently moves Tasmin off his lap. "If you've got to sit here, stay off my lap, okay?" Varina flashes Opa a grateful grin. "There's sill some folding left I could really use some help with." She glances towards the journeyrank table, and adds, "Though I think there's some apprentices that are looking for extra duties this evening. I don't think you'll need to trouble yourself at all, Opa." Tasmin plops down beside Broccal, wrapping his arm around him, "Just keeping you company, big guy." Opa clears her throat and addresses the room again, evidently having missed the Tasmin-Kylee-Broccal exchange. "Well, again, it's good to see everyone here...we've had quite a lot of things happening recently. For instance, this morning, Apprentice Kylee was ordered to begin reporting to Journeyrank Broccal." Nalaya strolls in through the archway from the teaching wing. Opa hears Varina's suggestion and smiles speculatively at the journeyrank table herself. "So I see, yes..." Tasmin waves at Opa silently, grinning like an idiot. (That's LIKE.. not as!) Opa rubs her hands with anticipation but continues with her litany. "Recently, we've also had some promotions. Kylee and Maura have both been promoted to full apprentice." Nalaya wanders in, murmuring under her breath, and scowls as her skirts are befouled with one chair leg after another. She takes a seat at the journeyrank table near Broccal, meeting Opa's gaze in that direction with a smile. Broccal gently takes Tasmin's arm from around him. He leans to whisper to Tasmin, He mutters to Tasmin. Tasmin blushes just slightly, and starts paying attention. Who knows.. Opa turns a moment to smile back at Nalaya, a small gesture of her hand inviting the journeyrank to seat herself and grab some food. "And Tarma has been promoted to senior apprentice." Nalaya tries not to draw attention to her lateness, very carefully filling her plat with dinner items and drawing her cloth napkin across her lap. She raises an eyebrow at Broccal and Tasmin, then flashes Tarma a congratulatory smile. Evaine smiles at the various new apps and senior app. Kylee quietly nibbles a roll. Broccal moves a plate in front of Tasmin. "Here. Eat up and enjoy." Tasmin does just that... Weavers> Nalaya eeps and realizes through all the spam that Tarma's not here. Pretend I'm coherent. Weavers> Broccal says, "The ghost of Tarma?" Weavers> Nalaya nods. That's it. Opa takes a few bites of her dinner before continuing. "And, as I'm sure many of you have heard, there have been some more prominent promotions recently. Fiona has been so good at assisting the masters with their work and prodding apprentices out of their laziness that she has been promoted to master. Julaina was also so promoted for her dedication and enthusiasm for her craft in her posting area." Weavers> Tasmin says, "Shame that neither made it..." Nalaya now raises her hands and claps heartily for these announcements, eyes shining in the light of the hall. "Wonderful." She then goes back to working on her meal since nearly everyone's ahead of her in their servings. Opa adds, "As Master Zelez has been unable to devote herself fully to the position of Mastertailor, Julaina was asked to take over that function. She is young, and, of course, recently married, but we hope she shall adjust to her new duties well." Weavers> Broccal says, "Julaina can only play during the days, Tasmin." Weavers> Opa says, "Well, Murphy's Law ensures that Fiona never makes it to meetings where fish *isn't* served..." Opa smiles around the chamber. "So, congratulations to all the promotees...keep up the excellent work!" Opa smiles over to Varina. "And speaking of promotions...Varina, this should help lighten your mood from the closet problem..." She looks around the hall a few minutes, and frowns. "I suppose the apprentices in question are all off on errands." Nalaya finishes her food in record time, drowning it with a full swig of klah, then folds her hands in front of her in a mistmatched and graceful movement when compared to her gluttonness when it came to dinner. Weavers> Nalaya makes up a word, 'gluttonness'. :) Weavers> Opa says, "Gluttonity? Gluttonism? Gluttonation? :)" Varina chuckles warmly. "Ah, well, I'll just have to be pleased that they're usefully occupied,' she intones. Weavers> Nalaya oohs, thanks to Broccal I'm not an idiot. Gluttony is the right one. ;) Opa nods in agreement. "If only all the apprentices were constantly engaged in such useful activities..." She clears her throat meaningfully. Broccal pokes Tasmin in the ribs without missing a beat. Evaine glances at the pile of fabric next to her on the bench with a chuckle. Kylee holds up her dye-stained fingers smiling innocently. Nalaya frowns slightly, eyes floating to the apprentice table to watch for a few minutes. Then she scoots her chair back an inch and relaxes, noting that it's pretty quiet for once on that side of the room. Tasmin puts his most innocent smile on. Opa goes on. "At *any* rate...just because the apprentices up for promotion aren't here doesn't mean we can't promote others." She pauses for a long moment to build up any suspense, then stands. Broccal chortles at Tasmin's smile but goes on to finish hes roast. Opa leaves her seat, and then proceeds to stroll calmly around the room, finally moving to approach the journeyrank tables. Tasmin tries to pretend he really is Jorai. He'd at least be less conspiciously out of place in drag. Durn that he dind't think of that earlier. Evaine watches to see who the lucky person is. Broccal notices Tasmin's kilt Opa passes Nalaya and Tasmin (with a cocked-eyebrow look at the latter) before coming to rest behind Broccal. She clears her throat quietly. "I won't wait for you to finish off that herdbeast, but you can bring it over to your new table." Nalaya's eyes watch Opa as she crosses the floor, sitting up straighter in her chair as always when her master approaches during a time like this. But there's no fear of surprise in her eyes this time, and she casts a sidelong glance at Broccal. When Opa speaks, she claps her slender, dye-stained fingers together with a gleeful sound. Kylee stands up and applauds! Evaine cheers and claps for Broccal. Tasmin eeps, but can't protest. I mean, even if Broccal -is- his temporary fiancee' or something, he can't hold him back. He merely brushes back a tear and steals his chair. Broccal looks up at Opa, not sure if she'd play such a trick on him. Opa looks back at her now ex-mentee calmly, blinking just once. But her eyes are dancing. "It won't get cold, if that's what you're worried about. It's just a short walk, really." Tasmin whispers softly, "he's afraid to lose me!" Broccal smiles and takes Opa's hand to offer the respect he's always before felt constrained to express. Warmly, with tears welling back in his eyes, he says, "Thank you, Master" Opa gladly grasps Broccal's hand back, squeezing with congratulations. "You're quite welcome, Master." She breaks into a wide smile. "Shall we walk?" Broccal nods and snatches his plate from Tasmin to follow Opa to the master's table. Tasmin pauses between following Broccal and staying. Well, Jorai would stay. So he will. Durn. Broccal sits down at the Masters' Table. Nola grins as Broccal approaches and pushes an empty seat out for him, patting it eagerly. "Right here, young master...you'll find it mighty comfy, I believe." Broccal smiles at nola, wriggling to fit in. He squirms a little. "Wow, Master Nola, you sure keep a seat warm. " Nalaya pats Broccal's back before he's too far out of reach, realizing now that the one she usually sits with at this table is no longer going to be there. She shrugs a bit, then grins widely again. "Congratulations!" Varina leans down the table a bit to convey her congratulations to Broccal. Opa doesn't immediately return to her seat, but stays with Broccal as he sits. "There is a question I would like to ask, though, of our new Master." Nola chuckles heartily. "Hard not to, don't you think, with so much of me to cover a chair?" She grins, thumping Broccal on the shoulder. "And no more of this 'Master' bit for you...it's Nola now." Broccal has reconnected. Opa doesn't immediately return to her seat, but stays with Broccal as he sits. "There is a question I would like to ask, though, of our new Master." Broccal nods slowlly, "Yes, maam?" Evaine watches to see what happens next. Opa smiles. "Well, your penchant for helping out apprentices is quite obvious...as is the fact that you're rather good at it. Coincidentally, we're in need of an Apprentice Master. Would you consent to accepting that position?" Broccal's face brightens. "Craftmaster, I'd be honored to attempt to fill the position you vacated. I hope I can only do justice to your example and trust." Nalaya's eyes widen once more and she leans forward in her chair, her smile spreading until it appears it won't fit on her face any longer. She lets out an uncharacteristic 'whoop' before settling again, eyes downcast. Kylee sits back down quietly. Evaine uh ohs and guesses she'd better to get to work on her projects. Opa beams, both at the affirmative response and the inherent compliment. "Well then," she says, pulling the badge of the Apprentice Master, neatly embroidered, from one of her pockets. "Take this and wear it in good health...no doubt the apprentices will find some way to dirty it up before long." Broccal has partially disconnected. Broccal takes the knot from Opa, thinking back on how apprentices were 'in his day'. Shuddering, he turns to Nola. "Would you mind giving me a hand, maam?" Nalaya laughs, a slight sound that comes from deep in her chest as she covers it with a hand. Kylee mutters to Evaine, "I... *that*... did..." Nola nods eagerly, and whips out a small pouch from somewhere amongst her clothing. Opening it reveals several pins, which she starts using to attach the badge to the front Broccal's tunic. "Now," she says, talking around the pins in her mouth, "you'll want to sew this on more securely when you get back to your room." Weavers> Opa says, "Okay guys, would anyone have real objections if I skipped over show and tell this time around and went straight on into OOCness? I desperately want to get to sleep at a decent hour." Broccal nods, eyes wide as he sees how she sews with abandon. "I'll, uhm. Be sure to do that." Weavers> Evaine noddles. "Go ahead." Weavers> Nalaya nodsnods, of course! Weavers> Kylee nods. "Me too." Weavers> Broccal is unobjective Weavers> Opa thanks muchos...and sends OOC congrats to Broccal, of course. :) Weavers> Broccal smiles hugely. Thanks, Opa. Opa brings out the ever-famous OOC squeaky gavel. :) Broccal tsks. "No Maarle to hit with it.:( Nalaya lifts her feet to put boot-heels on the table, hands clasped behind her head. "Woowoo, congrats to all promo'd tonight!" You say "Oh, I think Tasmin will do just fine. :)" Tasmin giggles, "I'm honored." You say "Alright! First up...oh, darn. I should have done this bit ICly in the IC portion. Oh, well. :} First topic is the Romani trading family. They're a family which travels around the Ruatha area, which includes us. Now that it's spring, they're going to be travelling south to spend the season with us. So anticipate seeing them around. They're here to visit and add to the RP around here and generally have fun with us. :)" Evaine cracks open a can of Bud and toasts Broccal. Yay, you. Broccal takes a deep breath and smiles. "That would be kewl for Morayne and me, since we're from a trader family. You say "As to their specialties as a trading family...they trade in all the usual stuff, plus a few special items. They IC trade in blooded runners and one family member also makes handmade perfumes, which so far have been very popular." Nalaya oohs and sniffs at her VR self. "Gotta get me some of that." Evaine winks at Nalaya, "I hope so." Opa is sure we can all think of tons of stuff to do while they're here. They're a new family, just starting out and are looking forward to stirring up activity amongst themselves. If anybody would like to get any planned RP sessions together while they're here, please go for it. :) Nalaya heys and peers around at the people she talked with before about this. "Perhaps they can teach us how to better our bartering skills? Like give an impromptu class on it? Traders are experts, no?" Varina says "I'm sure they'll teach people the hard way :)" You say "Next up on the agenda is a TP which Broccal is going to tell us about. Take it away, Master Broccal. :)" Opa thinks that'd be really nifty. Broccal nods. "I know that someone, Julaina maybe? held a lesson on bartering. It could happen again. Varina says "No, that was Jorai that had that class, Broc." Broccal nods. "I thought I had that wrong." Kylee nods, "A bartering lesson would be handy since I probably managed to get the weaverhall ripped off big time when I was left in the Tent all alone." :) Opa grins. That was Jorai. Shame, Broc...your own fiancee. ;) Tasmin is Broc's -real- fiancee' Broccal says "I don't know if I was around at the time, sorry. I found the log of it, i think." Broccal says "Okay, Jorai's been trying to get us involved with the herders. I'm not sure what her ideas were, Varina knows that better. Varina, could you refresh us on what Jorai had already planned?" Opa has a partial log of it, but there's also a large portion of it that I logged which is on my old computer's HD. One day I will add it to the log list on the website, I swear... Nalaya nodsnods to Kylee. I'm sooo horrible at it. Evaine has disconnected. Kylee looks at Nalaya and grins, "I still don't know if I'm horrible at it. 7 marks for a sweater, vest and kilt seems a little low to me but I have no grip on the value of a mark." Varina says "Sorry, Broccal, I don't know the details of Jorai's plan off the top of my head." Nalaya raises her hand and shrugs to Kylee. "Me neither, but as long as we /make/ it sound like we know what we're talking about..." Broccal nods. "Okay. We'll have to get with her then and combine them. I think she was wanting to take ppl to the Herders and stuff. Broccal says "Recently I was at HRH and chatted with J'rank Zera who has been looking for a weaver to help her play out bringing wool from Nabol and HRH to the weavercraft." You say "Hold on, I think she mentioned it last Weavermeet. Let me check the log..." Broccal says "She's already worked something out with Kylee dealing with llamas, I believe? Kylee, would you mention what you and Zera talked about?" Kylee gurgles and blinks, "Zera's working on some experimental crosses. She wants us to make fabric samples from the various ones and see what kind of results we get with each one. I think it could make for some interesting tp, but that's about all we decided on. She'll be sending her flit over with some fleece in a few days I think." Kylee looks around, "So I'm in the middle of researching llamas. Did I skip anything, Broccal?" Broccal nods. "Ooookay. Hopefully, I can get together with Master Fiona, the ranking PC fibremaker and she'll tell you apprentices what's what." Opa throws in what she's found. Jorai's plan was to take people on a field trip to the MBH to help get our two crafts more involved. Another idea apparently was to have a Weaver/Herder gather, an educational kind of gather. Broccal says "I don't know Kylee. I got disconnected in the middle of it." Broccal ooooohs. "I can see how those two ideas could mesh. We could all go to the Herders, have a looksee at the animals who give us our fibres, and then start up a recurring tp where the herders bring us some ovine and llama wool. Anyone interested? Broccal says "Tasmin?" Kelay signs, and months ago I was told I couldn't have a Llama here! :( Tasmin hrm, hu, wha? "I DID'T DO IT!" Broccal grins. "Tasmin just volunteered. You say "We could +bbpost about it too, for those people not here who may not read the log right after (or at all)." Nalaya nodsnods. I does sound like funness. Opa laughs. Well, a llama running around the Hall would definitely be objected to by me. :) You say "ICly of course." Opa remembers a TP at HRH a while back (o gawd I think it was a year or two ago) where they had llamas running around all over the place. :) Kelay waves her sleeping hand, "I'd like to be involved. Weavers> Fiona waves from behind the security cameras. "I'm here. Having one of Those Nights (tm). If there's anything anyone wants or needs from me, mail-spam me and I'll do my best." :) Broccal says "Okay, so, there's definate interest in the MBH thing. I'll get with Jorai and we'll schedule something." Opa yay. :) Kylee raises her hand, "What about those patterns from Fort Hold?" Kylee says "I'm still trying to find other apprentices in different areas to actually do something with all these things I'm coming up with and bothering various others about. :)" Broccal nods. "Yes, Kylee has +mailed me with some good ideas for a vest or something. Has everyone read the bb? Cleona's post on Fort plans? Broccal says "Nalaya, do you have time to rp about the patterns?" Nalaya has read 'em and they are great ideas. :) Broccal says "Please keep the patterns in mind. This can be an ongoing project." Broccal says "Okay, I've got two ideas about the smiths. First, I'd like to bring up something I read in the first log of Master Opa's craftmastership dated 12/19/95." Nalaya is lagging, lovely-like. "Sure, I can rp about the patterns. And see if I can round up some apps to work on them with her." Opa . o O ( Oh dear heavens, it's been that long :) Broccal says "Master Allory read about how certain metals when put in an acid, it creates a nice grey dye. Kylee, I asked you to talk to Allory about this. Have you had a chance?" Opa oh! I have a textfile with information about that I can send...uh...anyone who wants. :) Kylee nods, "I +mailed her, but I haven't caught her online yet. Thus far, no response." Broccal says "I'd like that, please." Kylee would like a copy to please, Opa. You say "Okay, hold on..." Kylee erps, too that is. Broccal grins. Broccal says "Okay, we'll have an update on that for the next meeting. Next on my smith agenda, is a tp where some smiths come to show us how to maintain equipment like looms." Broccal says "Allory has given me her blessing to bug the snot out of her ppl. :) I'm sure Opa would give me similar permission with Weavers?" Nalaya nodsnods...who was it that was rping that with me a while back? About being interested in looms and the fixing of them? Maura perhaps? Opa quotes from the text she's got: "From afar, Allory nods, ok. the dye is one that I stumbled across in a book on natural dyes when I was looking for something for a weaver alt elseMU* :) Basically if some metals are left in acid, even weak acids like vinegar they react and produce basically a goop which gives a really nice grey colour, that is really stable." Broccal says "So far, I've gotten responses from:Noragan and Tanghos of the smiths, and Julaina, Kelay, and Kylee of the weavers." Opa laughs. Please do. :) You say "Bug the snot out of them, that is. :)" Nalaya oohs, permission to bug the snot out of people! Kylee rubs her hands in anticipation. Broccal says "Yes, Nalaya, and I've been rp'ing somewhat that I couldn't get the loom in the smallworkroom to work. So, that mean you're interested?" Broccal says "Wow. Your hands are blue, Kylee." Nalaya is, surely, but hesitates to commit at the moment since my schedule is totally haywire. :) Kylee grins, "See...I have been dyeing. I just do it very quietly." ;) Broccal nods. "that's understandable. I've basically been told sometime on saturday. We can work that out later. ' Nalaya nodsnods, sounds good then. Broccal says "I declare the smith topic closed unless anyone else has anything to add to either idea?" Opa holds her squeaky gavel aloft, poised. :) Going... Nalaya shakes her head. Tasmin eeps! Tasmin thought he was in the queue somewhere? You say "Going...(no Taz, just for the Smith TP not the whole meeting)" Tasmin ahs. (whew!) Broccal says "for the gavel, yes you are." You say "Gone! Thanx, Broccal. " You say "Alrightee, next up...roleplaying foo. Varina, Cleona discussed some RP ideas a few weeks back, and we want to start something new: the RP 'theme of the week'." You say "Basically, each week there'd be a new +bbpost outlining any "special" things that would ICly be going on in the hall in the next month (1 IC month = 1 RL week). Anyone who wants can use it as inspiration for RP, ideas for mini-TPs, anything you can think of." You say "Any and all suggestions from anyone for these special weekly RP theme ideas are extremely welcome. And if anyone would like to volunteer to organize any RP sessions related to the "theme of the week", that would also be marvellous. Everyone is welcome to contribute and get involved!" You say "For instance, the first one we're going to be trying (which I'm hoping to post tonight) is the idea that since it's almost spring, the Tailors will be going frantic coming up with the "new look" for the new season. :)" You say "Any comments before I go on to the next plot to inspire RP? :)" Broccal grins. "and all the journeyranks will be reporting in what they've seen out and about. Broccal says "I have a question. Maybe we should make it 'tp of the fortnight' considering the online times some of us are forced to keep?" Jorai strides in through the archway from the teaching wing. Jorai sneaks in. Haha. Broccal smiles at Jorai, waving her over. Opa hms, that's true - and would certainly be easier, particularly when just starting it up and getting used to churning out ideas regularly. What do others think...posts once a week or once every two weeks? (Hey, Jorai!) Weavers> Varina apologizes again. We've got a revolution of bedtimes and it's just not a good time for me to be unidle. Nalaya thinks every two weeks might be better, give us more time to use each idea fully. (Hi Jorai!) Opa alrightee, every two weeks it is, then. Thanks, folks. :) Jorai smiles as she plunks into Broc's lap. Whew. Hey all :) You say "Moving right along to the next idea: sections. For those of you who've read the 2nd of the Harper Hall novels (I mix up Dragonsong and Dragonsinger all the time), you may remember that apprentices were assigned to sections, and they were assigned chores by section (e.g. section 1 sweeps the courtyard, section 2 clears away the meal tables, etc. etc.). We could do that here, too...newly accepted apprentices could be assigned to a section, and then every two weeks when the theme of the fortnight goes up, the sections would be reassigned chores." You say "Anyone who wants can use this to inspire RP (doing chores, griping about chores, buddying up with people in the same section as you, etc. etc.)." Nalaya hrms...good idea! You say "Comments? Thoughts? Criticisms?" Broccal says "the starsmith uses it." Nalaya thinks that it'll at least foster some new relationships between the apprentices, to be in groups. Tasmin doesn't -do- chores. He's too special Tasmin giggles. :> Opa didn't know that, Broccal. Broccal says "tas would be on report ALL the time. :)" Kylee really thinks Tasmin would look good in blue. :) Broccal says "yes, and to complain that certain sections always get the easy chores?" Opa nodnods. :) Opa already has some chores in mind, but is very, very open to suggestions. :) Kelay smiles,"It would be fun rp " Broccal says "Cleaning out the dye tubs?" Nalaya remembers that long ago we rp'd a lot of mending. ;) Opa nods, right then, I'll work on implementing that. :) Opa oohs at Broccal, I hadn't thought of that one. :) Weavers> Jorai is getting spot-lag Weavers> Nalaya groans, no kidding! Me too! Kelay fiber gets everywhere.....lots of cleaning! You say "Okay, onto the third plot for inspiring RP: Evaluations. Yet another thing taken from the 2nd HH novel, where when Menolly arrives, before she can get given a class schedule, she had to be evaluated to determine what level she was at in each of the areas of Harpering. We could also do that for new apprentices...journeyrankers and masters could volunteer to do "evaluation-RP" with anyone who's, say, been here less than a week." Opa thinks it would instantly give new people some RP to do, give them an opportunity to meet people, and also help them figure out for themselves where their character's interests, talents and experience lie in terms of Weaverishness. Broccal nods. "S'good idea." Nalaya nodsnods and likes it a lot. It'll give us all experience in rp'ing true weavers and what they do. You say "I +mailed the journeyrankers a few weeks ago (mind you, some of them are masters now but they're still more than welcome to do this if they want) to ask if anyone was interested in volunteering. So far I've gotten Nalaya, Jorai and Broccal (yell at me if I got any of that wrong)." Varina has disconnected. Weavers> Kelay says, "I am spot lagging too and it is frustrating! :(" Weavers> Opa is, too. It sux. Nalaya nodsnods. Opa will continue to work with these volunteers (and Broccal, now that he's Apprentice Master and is probably interested in getting in on this kind of thing :) to set up the evaluation RP thing. Stay tuned. Thoughts? Comments? Nalaya thinks it might be nice to have even some of the not-so-new apprentices get involved with evaluations if it's not too out of canon? It might be fun for them at least. You say "How so?" Broccal says "Oh, wow! Periodic evals? Like, final exams?" You say "Like, the not-so-new apps getting evaluated?" Kelay starts to shake in fear.... Opa oooh, nifty idea. Kylee cringes at that. Nalaya hrms, though Broc that's not exactly what I was thinking. "Well, some of the apprentices that may not be so brand-spankin' new could perhaps do the same thing, like especially the 'undecided ones' as to their specialties? Opa hugs the apps present today. It's all just for RP. :) Broccal smiles sweetly to his mentees. Kelay says "FINALS?!?" Nalaya thinks any rp is fun, personally. ;) Varina has connected. Opa nods to Nalaya. Sure, just cuz they're not brand-spanking new doesn't mean they can't take advantage of a new RP idea. :) But the finals idea does sound interesting, Broccal. >:) Broccal says "Got to be careful, though since it's not required to choose a specialty." You say "Anyway, I'm sorry to move this on so fast but Tasmin wanted to say something but he has to go soon. Tas?" Nalaya nods and thinks perhaps apps trying to 'decide' on a subcraft could also do little visits to various masters and journeyrankers in each field, see what they like? And right, Broc, only if they want. Nalaya quiets now. ;) Opa wow, I like all these ideas. :) Nalaya hmms... Opa thinks Taz may be typing. :) Nalaya wowees and prepares for spam! ;) Broccal says "Does he know it's his turn?" Opa paged him. Tasmin begins a spammy big of discussion: Tasmin says "Friends -- I've been with the craft over a year, and enjoyed a great bit of roleplay with all of you. People and places, however, change. I have grown tired of Tasmin, and weary of his rather selfmindedness. That may have been my fault in his development, but that's water under the bridge now." Tasmin says "The point I wish to make is that my time is limited, and I can no longer play Tasmin. I will continue to be availible as my alt, J'cob. Please feel free to contact me for roleplay, or invite me to gatherings. I still have interest in those friends I made, but I do not feel I can contribute any more to the weavercraft as things stand." Tasmin says "I regret the short notice, and also the rudeness of this sort of announcement, but I wanted everyone to know that I am leaving with no hard feelings for anyone, anything, or any events or disappointments. Thank you all for being the fun folks you've been." Tasmin says "Done." Tasmin will take any relivant questions, but must be gone in about 10 minutes. Kelay says "If he is lagging as bad as me...he will figure it out in a while :)" Tasmin unlags. Nalaya ohs! Tasmin, we'll miss you!! :( Kylee sighs, "And you didn't even give me a chance to dunk you in a dye vat." :( Broccal wipes a tear from his eye. "Tasmin, it's true you'll be missed. :( Broccal says "Do you plan on having the char die? or just move into NPC land?" Opa also ohs! Yep, you definitely will be missed, even though I can certainly appreciate your reasons. Tasmin says "Tasmin will continue on as Yet Another NPC Apprentice." Tasmin says "I'd be honored if he was retained for NPC purposes." Opa would be happy to do that, Tasmin. Broccal nods. I'll certainly bring your name up from time to tiime. Nalaya nodsnods, good idea. Then we can still gossip about you. :) Tasmin grins, "Good. But for now, I must go. Good evening, all!" Opa waves!!! Tasmin has disconnected. Kelay says "Bye Bye Tasmin :(" Nalaya eeps and misses him! Waah! Opa sighs and continues. "Okay...I have a few more things to go over which I forgot to add to the agenda originally. The first is quite important. It appears that the umbrella company which runs my local Internet service provider has been taken over by another company, which has decided to dump my local ISP. Their new packages simply cannot compare with what I had previously, so I wanted to let everyone know that I'll be switching to another ISP. This important not only because it means my email addy is going to change, but also because the URL for the Weavercraft website will be different. You say "I will be announcing the new URL for the site the nanosecond I get it up and running, but I wanted to warn everyone in advance. In addition, I will no longer have an ftp site but I will still be making meeting logs available (just in a different place)." Nalaya nodsnods, reading swiftly. Kylee nods. Broccal eeks. Opa has been told by the helpline folks that they are willing to forward my email and redirect people to my new webpages, which is very good, but I will be making an announcement all the same. Opa nods. Eek indeed. I cannot tell you how *thrilled* I am. You say "And finally, masterness..." Nalaya puts her hands together and prays her ISP doesn't do that for a long time. Broccal says "It happened to me twice. :( hence the long absence of broccal in teh hrh blizzards." Opa says "I guess it's obvious to everyone by now that we're in the middle of promoting folks to master rank. :) Opa says "Alas, one of the consequences of this is that we have less journeyrankers. :) This means that mentoring of apprentices is going to be in trouble for a while until the journeyrank population rises again. Same for postings, since masters get to be posted to a particular place rather than "journey" around an area. So I just want to ask that everyone bear with as we go through this transition where lots of people don't have mentors. Nalaya raises her hand. "I still don't have any mentees, so..." Varina says "Can't we have the people who were promoted keep their apprentices instead of sending the apprentices off into mentor-limbo land?" Varina says "or, send them all to Nalaya. :)" Nalaya eeps and isn't sure she should take the whole pile, but...;) Broccal pouts. "I was going to request every apprentice report to me." Broccal puts his arms around Kylee and Kelay. "MINE! " You say "We're still on a journeyrank-centred mentoring system, but there's no reason the new masters can't continue to act as mentors to their old apprentices, sure. Or, of course, that giving-them-all-to-Nalaya idea sounds kinda neat to me..." Nalaya suddenly wonders if it's 'cause no one wants her as a mentor...*hide*. Opa grins at Broccal. I'm sure you've got ideas about what you can do for mentoring and reporting and stuff, as AM. I'm going to nab you soon to chat about all that. :) Broccal nods. Okiedokie. Jorai wonders if she was just squished :) Kylee hides under Broccal's arm, hoping no one will notice her. Opa does, though, apologize Kylee, for mentoring you to Broccal...was it today or yesterday? and then promoting him tonight. That was pretty stupid of me. :) Kelay moves over to give Jorai a touch more room Broccal frumps. "I thought maybe I could keep a couple for my lonesome, but if I hafta I hafta. :( Kylee smiles, recovering from her yo-yo bouncing. "That's okay. I'd probably still pester him anyway." ;) Opa doesn't think Broccal would have objections to pestering. :) Broccal shakes his head. "Nope, I'm good at pestering." You say "Alrightee, that's it from me...lordy, this has been going on for about three hours. Does anyone have any other topics to bring up before I pass out? :)" Kylee looks at Broccal, "Good at pestering or being pestered?" Broccal smiles Nalaya hides under her table and sniffs at herself. "I guess I /do/ need that trader's perfume." Broccal watches Nalaya sniff her fingers after sticking them under her pits. Nalaya heys at Broc, I did not! Opa gags... Opa . o O ( Nalaya = Mary Catherine Gallagher? ) Nalaya chortles. I don't really /see/ that for Nala, but... Opa hoists the squeaky gavel. Okay. Going... Kylee giggles. "That's horrible Opa." Broccal says "She caught my meaning. :) Nice skirt, Nala"" Nalaya falls backwards clumsily into that cute Father Broccal, knocking tables over. You say "Going..." Kylee scrambles out of the way, knowing how clumsy Nala can be. ;) Nalaya laughs! Kelay says "gone gone gone...say it!" Mother Opa smacks Nala upside the head with a ruler, screeching, "Mary Catherine Nalaya!" SQUEAK!!!!! (You're all insane, absolutely insane :)
