Evaine waves to Master Opa. "Evening." Opa comes in, dodging late, running apprentices this way and that. Broccal looks from Evaine to watch his CM enter. Nalaya looks at her empty hands again and settles them in her lap, peering over her neighbor to see what might be for dinner tonight. She catches Johann's eye, but doesn't ask for a single thing. Surprising. Alcyone sits up just a little straighter when the CM comes in, shrugs, and tosses her stuff back into her basket. Opa purses her lips as several younglings nearly collide with her, but her expression softens somewhat as she's greeted from various corners of the room. She smiles and takes her seat. Sachi barely notices anything she is thinking so hard. Mirtia turns on the bench so she's facing Master Opa's direction, on leans against the table sipping her klah, and waiting for the meeting to begin. The drudges enter with their customary platters - but this time, it is not the scent of broiled fish which hits your nostrils, but of fried chicken and seasoned river grains. Nalaya scoots to one side as a dark haired girl slips in next to her, evidently disliking the spot two people away. Nala greets her, asking how she is, then smiles as the food is brought out. Mirtia's face brightens as she smells something very appetizing. Alcyone quiet happily sets her basket under the table, eyeing the platters as they come out. Her plan for sitting with some elbow room is quickly put out of commission as a pair of apprentices running even later sneak in to sit at her end of the table. Broccal rolls his eyes as he sees yet another plate of fish placed before him. He mutters his thanks to the drudge. Weavers> Nalaya giggles, Broccal, it's chicken tonight. ;) Weavers> Fiona gasps, "You mean the one meeting I'm missing actually has something other than fish?" Opa hikes her long sleeves up past her elbows and serves herself a slice of meat and a dollop of grains before passing the tray along to Master Caladin. Weavers> Broccal says, "Someone posed fish. :(" Weavers> Opa grins. Murphy lives. Weavers> Opa says, "I posed *not* fish. :)" Weavers> Opa scrollscrollscroll...didn't I? Weavers> Triene thought chickendidn't exist... Weavers> Opa says, "Yeah, Pern has chickens, just not a lot." Sachi looks up as a plate is set down before her. She notices what is being served and happily begins eating. She soon drifts off back off into whatever she is thinking about. Weavers> Broccal eeks. *sigh* If I'd actually read the spam.... Weavers> Opa says, "They thrive in really warm holds...like, oh, say, Southern Boll. :)" Evaine starts in on her chicken, quietly listening to the conversations around her. Mirtia eyes her platter appreciatively, and picks up a pice[ece of chicken hungrily. She takes a bite, and then tears of two small ones, one for her feline, and one for her little firelizard. Alcyone snags a piece of white meat off a passing platter, setting it on her plate. When the grainstuffs come by she spoons some of those out, and then peers at them thoughtfully. Weavers> Opa just got a message that Varina's been kicked off and is having trouble reconnecting. Chrysalis carefully takes the proferred morsel of food from Mirtia with a churp of thanks. Nalaya peers downwards at her nice new blouse, grimacing at the thought of the greasy chicken and klah that will inevitably get on it. After looking around for a moment to see if anyone cares, she tucks her cloth napkin at her neckline to form a bib. There. Opa suddenly grins involutnarily and tries to catch Caladin's eye. She points discreetly to her nose. Weavers> Tasmin says, "Everybody is having trouble reconnecting. Including me," Mirtia grins at Nalaya, and just goes right on munching. Opa involuntarily, even. Broccal carefully folds his napkin around the collar of his tunic and digs in Tasmin has been here the whole time (as usual). Caladin looks at Opa blankly, and with a faint amount of irritation, as she's keeping him from his dinner. She points to her nose again, then gives up and leans forward to touch his nose. "You've got a spot of dye...right there..." Weavers> Mirtia can't stay on for very much longer or she'll be in trouble at work. :( Nalaya nearly spits out her mouthful of klah on her new bib as she watches Opa talk to Caladin, smiling around at her fellow apprentices. They've been noticing that spot for a few days...he's regularly got dye all over him. "Look, she's telling him..." Broccal turns to the pretty brunnette next to him, chatting with her but sad that Jorai's not here. Mirtia covers her mouth as she giggles when Nalaya points out Master Opa's helpful comment. "Guess it was too good to last anyway." Caladin harrumphs and starts back, wiping his nose and attempting to cover up his dignity. Opa meanwhile turns back to the room, still grinning, and says, "Well, as Master Caladin here has just been displaying evidence of his hard work, I think it's time to reward those who have been working hard lately, too." Weavers> Evaine says, "BTW, don't mind my being idle. Just trying to actually get my homework done before the classes begin. I'm watching tho."" Caladin's irritated harrumphing can still be heard. Mirtia also nods to the newcomer, and indicates she's welcome to come have a seat if she'd like. Sosha goes over and quietly takes a seat next to Mirtia Opa clears her throat and calls out loudly, "Apprentice Mirtia!" Mirtia turns to hear Master Opa better, and nods to the girl, whispering "Hi. I'm Apprentice Mirtia." Mirtia jumps straight into the air almost, "Yes Ma'am?" Nalaya tries with much effort to straighten her face, hoping Master Caladin didn't see her peering at him as she focuses on the pile of river grains on her plate. She smiles as Mirtia's name is called. Mirtia comes to her feet, and faces the CM rather formally, with slightly trembling knees. Opa delves into one of her pockets and pulls out a senior apprentice's knot. As Caladin harrumphs some more, she holds it out. Broccal chuckles at Mirtia as he tears apart a bit of leg and stuffs his face. "MMmm nice change from the reaches." Weavers> Opa once again rearranges the agenda, since Mirtia said she was leaving early. :) Mirtia squeals delightedly, anddarts over to Master Opa, "For me?" Her eyes are big and happy. Almost as one, all the masters at their tables cringe backwards at Mirtia's high-pitched squeal. After a few moments, Opa manages a smile and holds the knot out again. "Yes...you've been working very hard lately and I've received good words about you from many quarters." Mirtiagrigrins excit takes the knot, and replaces her old one before leaning down to hug CM Opa. "Thank you very much!" Nalaya smiles broadly at Mirtia, calling out congratulations over the din of utensils and voices. "Wonderful!" Mirtia hugs Opa quickly again, and grins at Master Caladin before doing a happy dance back to her seat. Opa patpatpats Mirtia's back during the hug, and smiles as the girl returns to her seat. One of the masters beside her leans over to whisper, and she mumbles back, "Well, she wasn't *that* loud..." Mirtia turns to show Nalaya her new knot, and asks her if she pinned it on straight, her face beaming. Broccal applauds the promotion and Caladin's reaction. Nalaya nods her head emphatically, though the knot tilts slightly to the right. "It's lovely...I'm so happy for you." She helps the other student back into her seat, making sure nothing gets spilled. She herself is clumsy enough for the whole group. Opa turns back to the rest of the chamber. "Well, then, let's go on...we have more people here today who have demonstrated improved skill and shown themselves worth of new knots." She looks over towards the journeyrank table, seeking out Broccal, and nods to him. Opa +y Mirtia hugs Nalaya too, and sits bouncing happily, all thought s of eating forgotten, watching with bright eyes. Broccal's eyes meet Opa's and he quickly wipes his hands on the napkin about his neck and sets it aside. He rises, and walks slowly toward the apprentices, a serious look on his face. Slowly he walks down the aisles until he passes Nalaya. He then takes a step back and smiles at her as he taps on her shoulder. Mirtia looks up at Broccal and then to Nalaya, Congrats Nalaya!", she says, and squew[1ezes her hand before she rises. Nalaya's jaw drops all the way to the table, or so it appears, and she nearly gives Broccal her usual playful look before realizing that he just might not be teasing...ohmigosh. She half stands, proving her clumsiness with some spilled klah, and then falls /onto/ Broccal. "Me?" Opa quietly puts her head in her hands. Weavers> Nalaya whoa. Weavers> Mirtia says, "I apologize for the horrible typing job I'm doing tonight. New system and some keys aren't the same. :)" Broccal stumbles as he pushes Nalaya off him, knocking her into Mirtia. "Yeah, you!" Mirtia tumbles off the bench, and onto the floor. She laughs, and picks herself up as says, "Yea, you." to Nalaya, before regaining her seat. Nalaya manages not to fall on Mirtia too hard and rights herself, getting her new skirt all mussed on the edge of the bench as she steps away from the table. "Oh...Broccal...no...really?" Broccal offers his hand to steady Nalaya and gestures to Master Opa with his head. "See her, if you're not sure." Varina zooms in on her broomstick. Caladin takes in a sharp breath and opens his mouth, but Nola lays a hand on her arm. "They're not brawling, Caladin, they're just...not being graceful." Opa gives Nalaya a reassuring look, patting the jr. journeyranker's knot she has pulled out of her pocket and placed on the table beside her. Nalaya turns to smile at Opa with a completely beaming look, getting more sure of her feet. "Wow...thanks so much!" She flushes for her display of clumsiness, looking around as she walks closer to Opa's table and the knot. "I can't believe it..." Mirtia is privately thinking she may be glad that Nalaya's going to sit at the Journeyman's table now, and grins at her. Broccal quietly picks up Nalaya's plate and drink and sets a place for her at the j'rank table Broccal sits down at one of the Journeyranker Tables. Opa hands Nalaya her new knot and smiles as Broccal escorts her over to her new seat. Weavers> Evaine is back from being idle. "Yuck, I hate Calc." Nalaya smiles, making her way to the journeyranker tables with fairly steady feet, still flushed. She thanks Broccal quietly, and takes up her mug of klah again as she sits, hoping no one's still lookingat her. Mirtia calls her congrats to Nalaya again, since she might not have heard her the first time in all the excitement. All the apprentices continue to pound their tables and chant "Walk! Walk!" until Nalaya gets herself settled. Nalaya looks up and waves to Mirtia as she hears her name called, smiling to split her face. Opa looks over. "Oh yes, Broccal, one more thing?" She crooks her finger, beckoning him over. Broccal raises an eyebrow as he rises again, confused and wondering if he missed up escorting Nalaya. "Yes, ma'am?" Nalaya buries her face in her food, taking a few bites and then feeling unable to chew. She scowls just a tad as the apprentices stop banging the tables, then focuses her attention on Broccal and Master Opa. Broccal stands and leaves the Journeyranker Tables. Opa discreetly places the full journeyranker's knot she's been concealing into Broccal's hand. "Think you can make some room for this on your shoulder?" Nalaya sits down at one of the Journeyranker Tables. Mirtia grins, and calls, "Congrats,JBroccal!", beforinge piping down and blending back in with the other's around her. Broccal just stares at the new knot which is screaming to replace his current one. He looks up at CM Opa and smiles broadly and nods brusquely. "Oh, to be sure, I can. Thank you!" He quickly replaces the knot, stroking the new one to get used to it. Nalaya oohs, her eyes widening again as she watches Broccal get a promotion as well. "Congrats!" She squirms in her seat, smiling broadly again and feeling awfully pleasant. Tasmin smirks, another one down the path to glory. Opa nods approvingly. "Yes, I think it looks rather well on you." She smiles, then passes Varina some of the remaining chicken and grains. Broccal walks back to his former seat, trying hard not to look too pleased. Broccal sits down at one of the Journeyranker Tables. Opa looks around. "Well, congratulations to all those who were promoted tonight. I hope you will all keep up the good work you've been doing - I've been receiving messages lately from pleased customers, and I hope that will continue." Nalaya pats Broccal on the back gently, smiling and nodding at Opa with her eyes dancing. Broccal looks at Nalaya suspiciously, wondering what's being wiped on his back, or if she'll knock him face-first into his plate. Opa takes a drink of her juice before continuing. "Well, before we go on...and if I'm not mistaken, it's bubblies for dessert tonight...there are a few announcements." Mirtia gathers her things together, but waits for the announcements before she has to slip away Nalaya wrinkles her nose at Broccal while sipping again at her klah, upset that he can't see she's being nice and normal for once. Hrmph. Then she looks up at the mention of bubblies... Opa says "Recently, Nalaya was assigned to report to Julaina." She looks over towards Nalaya. "But...since she's walked the tables, it looks as though we'll now need to find apprentices to report to her." Weavers> Opa says, "Okay, anyone with anything to show and tell should start paging me now. :)" Opa says "Also, Julaina was recently assigned to report to Master Cleona." Broccal laughs and winks at Nalaya, thinking of her having sway over apprentices. Nalaya's mouth drops open again, her face assuming it's confused look. "Ah...yeah..really? But Julaina..." Mirtia grins at Nalaya again, and waves to everyone discretely before slipping unobtrusively through a side door. Mirtia moves through the doorway towards the teaching rooms and the rest of the west wing. Opa looks back at Nalaya inquiringly. "Hm?" Weavers> Mirtia says, "I'll hopefully be back a little after ten. If yo guys are still on, then I'll hopefully gt to see you then! :)" Nalaya mumbles into her klah again, shaking her head. "Nothing, Master Opa." Opa smiles. "I know you're probably used to reporting to Julaina...but now you can work with her on a more equal footing." Nalaya nods at Opa, so emphatically that her hair starts to bob loose around her face, escaping the bow at her nape. "Uh-huh." Opa nods back, then looks around. "Well, before the bubblies come in and we get our fingers completely stained, is there anyone who would like to share a recent project with the rest of us?" Nalaya raises her hand above her head, though she's looking like maybe she isn't sure about that. Enough embarassment for an evening, probably...she holds up a small, wall-hanging tapestry. Opa gestures permissively towards Nalaya and leans back to listen. Weavers> Evaine has and OOC question. "Whatever happened to the mentoring-thing? Nalaya hrms, wrinkling her nose and hoping this is a good move...but she smiles broadly as she unwraps the tapestry and sets it down. It's her favorite. "This was made for a good friend of mine at Ista..." Nalaya dropped Merellia's Tapestry. This is a medium-sized, wall-hanging tapestry, divided into four scenes though they are colored to blend together. The predominant colors are the orange and black of Ista Weyr and the golden color of Neith's hide. The top left square depicts a glowing Neith in the act of launching herself from the ground, her hide glowing brightly and her eyes a swiftly whirling red, her muzzle dripping fresh blood. Behind her and to the right can be seen a pack of gorging bronze and brown dragons, wings nearly touching as they crowd to watch Neith closely. One brown dragon is depicted at the head of the rest of the males, majestic head turned to Neith. In the background the spires of Ista's Bowl can be seen, and the small figure to one side must be Merellia, her head tilted slightly and her body contorted with some inner emotion as she watches her lifemate prepare to rise. The top right square shows Neith, gravid and agitated on the hot sands of Ista's Hatching Grounds. Beyond her extended forelegs can be seen a mound of shimmering eggs, mottled and still flaccid. Her sinuous tail is lifted and her eyes focus on the eggs in front of her. Behind her and to the left can be seen the same brown as in the first panel, Kailyth, almost indistinct against the background but for his glowing, watchful eyes. The bottom left panel is of the hatching sands again, only this time Neith is to one side, curved in a graceful circle with watchful eyes trained on the mound of eggs which are now hard and lit from inside with a soft glow - the life inside them is starting to break forth into a sea of white-robed bodies, and you can see small dragonets of all colors emerging. Blue, Brown, Green and Bronze, they take wavering steps and spread their glistening wings, seeking their lifemates on the hot sands. Kailyth looks on next to Neith, whose eyes are proud and fairly calm. Merellia stands in her finery next to Neith, dwarfed by her size, watching with shining eyes and a soft smile. The bottom right and last panel shows Neith and Merellia together, in a posture of love and togetherness. Neith stands behind Merellia, her great golden body crouched low so that her neck wraps about Merellia's back and her head sits next to Merellia's body. Her calmly whirling blue eyes seem to exude good humor and love as she turns to look at her lifemate, her tail wrapping close protectively. Merellia stands straight, her dark eyes open and brilliant and her dark hair lifted by a gentle wind from the s ide. One arm is rested against the side of Neith's neck, her fingers splayed on the soft, luminous hide. Her other hand hangs at her side, but her eyes meet Neith's in a joyful, silent, and perfect communion. Weavers> Evaine neverminds and waits till the right part. Weavers> Nalaya notes that y'all can look at it, type 'tapestry help' and it'll show you how. :) Didn't want to emit and spam. :) Tarma heads in through the archway from the teaching wing. Weavers> Nalaya hopes it works. Tarma waves hello. Weavers> Opa says, "Well, it's a combination of still not having heard from everyone and me having been very scattered recently. :/" Tarma says "Sorry I am late, I was unavoidibly detained." Tarma quietly enters and finds herself a seat. Opa smiles and nods at Tarma. "That's alright, we're just hearing about Nalaya's latest project." Weavers> Nalaya hrms, as the coding is a bit...off. Yikes. Weavers> Tarma says, "Um...is that tapestry supposed to be displaying itself in the open like that? I didn't do a 'look'.....(confused)" Weavers> Nalaya erps. Seems I messed it up...sorrysorry. Weavers> Broccal says, "Perhaps, Nalaya, instead of @emit, it should be @pemit?" Weavers> Opa thinks Broccal has it. Weavers> Nalaya hrms, and doesn't do stuff like this very often. Ayup...lemme check. I'm sooo sorry to spam everyone.... Weavers> Sachi waves good night. :) Sachi moves through the large doorway to the north and outside the Weavercrafthall. Sachi strides in through the entrance leading out of the Hall. Nalaya blushes profusely, then checks to make sure everyone's seen the piece (!) and then sits back down. Sachi strides through the doorway towards the teaching rooms and the rest of the west wing. Opa brings out her squeaky gavel...and you all know what that means. :) Weavers> Nalaya thinks she fixed it...sheepish grin. Drat. Tasmin blinks, "You're going to beat us again?" Broccal looks around for the mrl Nalaya giggles, pulling off her VR mask. Opa bonk-squeak. Just you, Taz. :) Broccal shrieks in horror at Nalaya Tasmin has been testing outa new client this whole time. Gah. Opa says "Alrightee! Looks like we might acutally get a meeting over with in under two hours, so here we go...there is one, only one, OOC topic I need to update you guys on, and that is what's been done since our discussion last meeting." Nalaya nodsnods? Weavers> Jorai says, "Ack! I didn't know" Tarma hides behind Broccal.... Opa says "First off, regarding the problem of commissions being IC, we decided that it was going to be both the responsibility of the apprentice to decide whether a commission is realistic enough to accept, and the responsibility of the approver to decide whether the apprentice should be RPing that they had help with the commission." Opa says "So...I've put that in the +lhelp. :)" Nalaya nods. "I have recently been rping having help, and the people don't seem to mind." Jorai heads in through the archway from the teaching wing. Opa ack...ack! Wait...I just checked +lhelp commissions and it's not there. Hm. Jorai lands in Broc's lap. Assuming this is OOC already :} Broccal shoves the brunette out of the way. "Over here, Jorai" Jorai beams Tarma squeeks "Hey!" Opa grins. Hey, Jorai! Tarma baps Broccal! Tasmin snugs da.. er, Jorai? Nevermind. Opa frowns. Drat, drat, drat! Maybe I thought I changed the +lhelp but really I didn't. Or maybe I'm going insane. Okay. How's this...I *will* be changing the +lhelp. Broccal chuckles. I didn't mean you. :) It was lost in spam, i guess. :) Here, I've got two knees, Tarma. Jorai hmphs Nalaya thinks that's good enough, Opa. Tarma *was* hiding from Opa and her squeeky gavel *behind* Broccal.:) Opa . o O ( Maybe I dreamed that I changed the +lhelp? ) Broccal says "Maybe you changed another group's +lhelp?" Jorai giggles Opa doesn't have access to anyone else's +lhelp. Nalaya has this image of Sboll's +lhelp showing weaver commission hints... Broccal says "Maybe you changed the website?" Opa says "Well, I apologize guys, I honestly thought I'd changed it. I revise my statement to "It's coming."" Broccal says "naw, i was thinking benden weyr" Tarma P::::::::at Broccal and sits back down in her seat.:) Pierce wanders in from the inner courtyard. Tasmin SCREAMS! NOT BENDEN :> Opa ohs...maybe that's it...maybe I changed the guide and not the +lhelp. Aha. That's probably it. Weavers> Varina snugs ya'll. maybe I'm here for good now. Opa grins at Tasmin. Hey, you scared 'im off. :) Tasmin laughs, "Yes. Yes i did ;)" Tarma says "What's wrong with Bended?" Opa grins brightly. "Okay, well, the web version of the Weavercraft guide has been updated." :) Tarma says "Er....Benden?" Nalaya thinks Bended means not straight... Tasmin says "Oh, nothing. O :)" Tarma P::::::: at Nalaya!:) Nalaya giggles. Sowwie. Broccal turns to tarma. "What's P:::::: supposed to mean?" Opa says "The other thing that was discussed was a +comment command, available within the Weavercraft, which will let you guys make quick comments if you feel that someone's been RPing a lot and you want to make sure Varina and I know about it, etc." Jorai whispers in Broc's ear, just to make trouble Tarma sighs and wonders how to explain..... Jorai ohs, cool :) Nalaya listens to Opa... Opa says "And the update on this is that I haven't done it yet. :( Combination of being sick as a dog and unable to get online for about a week. But it is coming. I'll make an announcement on the WCH bboard when I get it all finished and ready to go." Broccal nods, thinking that's neat. Nalaya nodsnods. I like it, too. Opa er, that's sick as a dog for one week and unable to get online during another week. It's been a bad month. :( Tasmin ewwws as columbia spits back 3 megs of email. :( Opa says "Also, I've done up a more "official sounding" version of the "what's the basis for promotions" spiel I gave last month, and new apprentices will be told it's available for reading if they like." Tarma nodnods...."Good." Jorai thinks you got a lot of stuff done there for an invalid :) Nalaya nods. Quite good for a sick person! Opa grins at Jorai. "Why thankee. :)" Broccal nods. "Wow. even as an invalid, you're still thinking about us... :) " Jorai feels inferior. *sniff* Tarma understands....she's been feeling cruddy too. Ya done good, boss.:) Jorai nudges, "I think that means we make her sick just thinking about us ;) Opa says "Anyway, that's the update on what I've been doing to follow up on the issues we covered last month. Hope people are happy - as usual, you can always give me a yell with any comments or suggestions that you have." Nalaya frowns at Jorai. Nuh-uh... Opa *laughs!* Uh...no. That's not it. :) Broccal bouncies Jorai and nods knowingly, "Well, yeah, you have a point." Opa erk, didn't finish one of those last sentences. "Hope people are happy with what's been done so far," is what I should have said. :) Opa says "Any questions about this item?" Jorai peers at Broc, "In fact, you have the same affect on me.. Jorai ducks Broccal blushes. "You flatter me, dear." Broccal says "No, ma'am. :)" Tasmin scampers off. Tasmin heads through the doorway towards the teaching rooms and the rest of the west wing. Nalaya doesna have any at the moment...still too stunned to begin asking. :) Opa assumes that's a no. :) Okay then, open forum time...any issues anyone wants to raise? Tarma shakes her head no. Nalaya scratches her chin. Nope. Jorai still doesn't have all her knots :( Broccal says "Want one of mine?" Opa gasps. Do you mean...is it possible...that this is a 95 minute meeting? Nalaya shrugs, looking around sheepishly. "I could make something up..." Tarma says "Is the promotions all I missed, from before?" Jorai giggles, no thank you Broc.. Opa noodles at Tarma. And it shouldn't take me long at all to edit the log, so you should be able to read them yourself really soon. Tarma says "Thanks, Opa." Opa says "Well, in that case..." Nalaya beams, I actually finished a weavermeet. Opa whomps down the gavel, turns off the log, and runs around the room screaming wildly with joy and giving everyone hi-5s. :)
