Haldi grins. Well, before, when things were more active, I was hoping to 
  discuss shrinking my 'coverage' area. I'm not doing justice to some of 
  the places... 
Opa nods. I can understand that...everyone has a lot of places to do. But I 
  don't want anyone to miss out, and we don't have an overflow of 
  journeyrankers, so for the moment, you're stuck with it. :( However, once 
  we start getting an abundance of journeyrankers, I'll be posting more 
  than one person in the same area, so you guys can spread it around a bit 
  more. How's that sound? 
Nalaya grins. "Hm..." 
Nalaya wonders how many journeyrankers there actually are? 
Opa checks the knot... 
Opa says "8, not including our craft's robot character. Some of those are 
  'older journeyrankers', though, and aren't posted anywhere." 
Nalaya ohs, nodding. "And I coulda done that myself, methinks. Rosters are 
  good things." :) 
Opa grins. Well, not everyone's totally comfortable with the knots. But we 
  do have a few macros available to ease things a bit. 
Nalaya grins...I'm trying to think of anything I wanted to bring up... 
Haldi smiles. 
Nalaya wonders how much travelling an apprentice like me would be allowed 
  to do? Like to South Boll and such? 
Haldi says "Well, isn't Boll within spitting distance?" 
Opa says "Oh, South Boll you'd probably be able to visit lots and 
  lots...it's about as far away from here as Fort Hold is from the Harper 
  Hall...a five minute walk or so, say?" 
Opa nods at Haldi. 
Opa says "Other travelling, technically, apprentices wouldn't do much of. 
  But for the sake of RP you can stretch that. :) Besides, there's always 
  the excuse that you're on some sort of delivery errand, or something. :)" 
Nalaya okies...what about other places? Like to help out Julaina? She was 
  asking if Nala wanted to help her again with some commissions... 
Nalaya sighs as you beat me to that. :) 
Opa grins smugly. Yes, part of my job is to anticipate everyone's next 
  thoughts. ;) 
Nalaya laughs! "I think I'll ask that the people who want the commissions 
  try to come here, since their jobs might allow them to do that more than 
  me going to Benden area." 
Haldi grins. Oh god.. I can't remember her name... My npc Journeyranker 
  likes bringing apprentices with her /everywhere/ ;) 
Haldi says "Thelva!" 
Nalaya giggles. "Thelva, eh?" 
Opa shrugs. Either way is just fine. Truthfully, I consider it abhorrent 
  for a craftmaster to dictate where her craftmembers can and cannot RP, 
  but I'm very happy to say what I do and do not think is reasonable in 
  terms of canon. 
Haldi nods. :) 
Opa grins at Haldi. Gotta love Thelva. 
Haldi grins. She took me all over on Y'tell's Phelth. :) 
Nalaya nods, and will at least ask if they'll come here...it's fun for 
  people to see the hall anyway. 
Opa nods. Not to mention that it stirs up RP here. :)

Opa looks at the +rwho once again. Okay, well, I guess it's just the three 
  of us for now, so shall I forge ahead with the topics I wanted to cover? 
Haldi chuckles and nods.

Opa says "Okay, well, the very very first thing is that I am sooooo happy 
  to be back. School is over, and I'm really sorry that I had to be so 
  absent since March, but it was unnaturally hellish for a bit there. The 
  bottom line is that the lull in my online times was only temporary, I 
  haven't abandoned the craft, and I'm back and raring to go once again. 
  :)" 
Haldi wiggles and yeas! :) Although, I've been a bit absent/lax too :} 
Nalaya is glad that you're back. And I've been absent as well, so... 
Opa says "Well, it's summer now, right? We can relax. :)" 
Nalaya NODS at that, for sure. If I can get a provider here. 
Opa says "Speaking of your admissions of absentness, :) I have noticed 
  since I got back that things aren't as active around here as they used to 
  be. We've also lost a lot of members. I'm sure this is due in a large 
  part to NC's constant downtimes...I'm sure some folks haven't realised we 
  have a new address. Others may have been caught by the same academic 
  stress as I was." 
Opa crosses her fingers for you, Nalaya. :) 
Haldi smiles. And we'll still lose soem to Summer I'm sure. 
Opa nods, pouting. Yes, that too. 
Opa brightens up. "But! All is not lost! :) I'm going to keep trying to 
  stir things up around here, attract new members, keep us going through 
  the summer, and all that good stuff." 
Nalaya nods, good. "I do wish there was some way to tell people of the new 
  address who can't find us." 
Haldi grins.... Oooh A fi! 
Opa nods at Nalaya. Unfortunately, all the people who haven't been on since 
  NC went down on the old site also happen to be people whose email 
  addresses I don't have. :/ 
Fiona walks in through the archway from the teaching wing. 
Opa hugs a Fiona. :)

Haldi sighs. Well, people with web browser access could find the address if 
  they really tried. 
Opa says "Anyway...I can't do that all myself, though, and I shouldn't. 
  Everyone's help is needed. :) If we're all fun and enthusiastic and 
  active and doing things as a group, that's way better than if it's just 
  me thinking up events and organizing things and schtuff." 
Opa nods. It's been announced in alt.fan.pern and it's on the web page, and 
  Julaina announced it on the PernMUSH bulletin board on the web, too. 
Nalaya nods, that's true. Well, we'll all just have to make up for it, eh? 
Opa nods! Already we've had a couple of people join us recently, too.

Opa ummms...I haven't sat down and come up with a list of names, but 
  working from memory, Zephine recently joined us as staff, and Sachi is 
  our newest apprentice. And I spoke with someone else last night about 
  arranging an interview. 
Fiona smiles, 'Sachi signed up? She's neat." 
Opa says "So...I'd encourage everyone to keep active, and don't feel shy 
  about arranging things like, say, quilting bees, or roleplayed classes, 
  or other non-major tinyplots (or even major tinyplots, just run 'em by me 
  first :)." 
Nalaya nods. 
Opa says "One thing that I've set up is a little TP involving a group of 
  Benden riders...I'm doing a tapestry of one of the Benden weyrling 
  classes, and the riders involved have been invited to come swing by here 
  now and then to pose and things like that. :)" 
Nalaya grins, the ones that were here last night? 
Opa er, pose as in model, not :<action> :) 
Fiona nopes, "Those last night were from Fort." 
Opa grins. Yeah, we had some riders drop by from Fort totally impromptu 
  last night. That was great. 
Nalaya unfortunately had to leave, as always happens.. 
Opa says "Anyway, I just want everyone to have a fun time. :)" 
Nalaya nods, thinking. "What about me and some other apps taking little 
  hops about to see about latest fashions and stuff? Would that be very 
  canon?" 
Opa grins. Sure! 
Fiona smiles at Nalaya, "I need to get out and actually get to my postings, 
  and would always enjoy company." 
Haldi grins. There's an idea. Pre journeying for apprentices. Go out with a 
  journeyranker and see thier posting. :)( 
Nalaya oohs...that sounds funfun! Last night when Opa and I were chatting, 
  I was thinking that us apps would get a little behind on, say, holder 
  fashions, and could use a little travel..that'd work perfectly. 
Opa nodnods...visit the posted weavers, too...I know from when I was posted 
  that sometimes you can feel kinda isolated way out there without any 
  other weavers around. :) No one has to feel restricted to the hall. On 
  the other hand, we don't want everyone fleeing from this place. On yet 
  another hand, it's great to get out there and get more variety (guess I 
  have three hands!). 
Haldi giggles. My problem is spenind what I feel is a /good/ amount of time 
  at each posting. I feel like I'm cheating some places. 
Nalaya gawks at Opa's peculiar physiognomy.

Acacia says "I even wrote it down somewhere here in a big ol' pile o' 
  papers. Someone really should have reminded me ^_^ I need a new special 
  assistant." 
Fiona thought she remembered, but baby wouldn't let her get here earlier, 
  anyway. :) 
Opa oohs, you were right, Haldi, nice call!

Opa needs one of them electronic life-organizers. Suddenly at work I have 
  meetings all day and I can't keep track of them all! 
Nalaya nods, and will need one after graduation when she joins the real 
  world. 
Acacia plops into a seat and tosses her hair back, "So I'm not the only one 
  that forgot. I mean, I knew I wasn't, but...well..I shouldn't have 
  forgotten, not with so many lil' notes! 
Opa ooohs, maybe I can ask for one as a graduation prezzie...arg, I'm 
  getting off track, sorry. :} 
Acacia laughs, "Ah well, whatcha gonna do. So, we need to make a list of 
  prospective Acacia Assistants. 
Fiona ducks and hides from Acacia. :} "Sorry you lost your old one." 
Haldi noogies Fiona and just grins. 
Acacia throws some pieces of bread somewhere near Fiona, "You are still on 
  my bad list for the moment." 
Acacia grins, "Bad bad bad..um..bad..oh lord, she's just too cute! She 
  can't be bad!" 
Opa grins at Acacia and starts ticking off on her fingers the things she 
  will be plunging back into now she's got free time again. Firstly, the 
  Weavercraft encyclopedia. It's not by any means finished, but I've 
  decided to go ahead and put what we have up on the infobot, and put the 
  rest up in dribs and drabs as we all start writing it up. 
Nalaya umms, and has found some typos in there...I'll let you know about 
  them later, since you asked. :) 
Nalaya and giggles at Fiona. 
Opa says "That way, everyone can see what still has to be done. If you hit 
  an entry that reads 'information forthcoming,' someone still needs to do 
  it. :) Everyone should feel free to volunteer." 
Opa aiee, drat. Actually, I sent a round of corrections off to Tiercel a 
  couple of days ago, but he hasn't updated the stuff. I should ask him 
  whether he got my email. 
Fionastill intends to help out with the encyclopedia. Really. :) 
Opa abhors typos. If people see any, please let me know imeejiately so I 
  can fix 'em. :)

Opa ticks off another finger. "Two, the mentoring system. Varina and I have 
  decided that we're pretty close to the point where we'll be sitting down 
  and hashing something out, but I'd like a bit more input...besides, I 
  still have to respond on the mailing list to the suggestion that senior 
  apprentices act as mentors. The mailing list is, btw, according to 
  Varina, working now." 
Nalaya hadna heard about mentoring stuff. 
Fiona wants some more people to sign up for fibres. :) 
Acacia hadn't either, "I'll have to sign up on the mailing list now." 
Haldi grins. Dye dye dye dye :) 
Opa ose, basically Nalaya, we used to havve a mentoring system whereby a 
  journeyranker or master would take on some apprentices...I'm trying to 
  start that up again, but in a way that works nicely with what everyone in 
  the craft would like the mentoring system to accomplish. 
Fiona pokes Haldi, "Fibre rules!" ;) 
Opa oooh, look, it's a kid brother. :) 
Daymon scampers in quickly and hops up into Haldi's lap.

Fiona uhms, "Well, you and I talked about it, but we never really discussed 
  it with Opa." 
Broccal says "Master Opa, I had fun last night rp'ing the commission. I 
  think they enjoyed it, too." 
Opa had fun, too. :) 
Daymon winks at Nalaya. 
Acacia welps, "You wanna tell Opa about it?"

Fiona blinkies, "Well, okay...(typing.)" 
Acacia grins, "Okay Opa, calm down. ^_^"

Opa relaxes. 
Fiona says "Basically, Acacia wanted to do a quilting project that would be 
  like a continuing storyline. Someone would set up the main medallion of 
  the quilt with a picture of a storyline, then other people would be able 
  to add squares detailing different parts of the story. We thought maybe a 
  slightly modified object like the tapestry maker would work." 
Opa says "Oh, like one of those games where one person starts a story, and 
  the next person picks it up?" 
Nalaya was in the beginning gonna help with that, but got sorta busy...it's 
  still a great idea? 
Broccal raises an eyebrow. "that's neat" 
Acacia noddles at what Opa said, "Yeah, like that. But with each square you 
  can sort of tell your own lil' story, because you can desc it and such 
  with its own lil' beautiful elements, that also add to the story as a 
  whole." 
Fiona says "Yeah, like the story games, except that people could take their 
  time to work on the projects, so it wouldn't all happen in just one 
  evening. We could RP quilting bees whenever, though." 
Opa wow, neat, yeah, that would be fun. :) I could code up something like 
  that...wouldn't be hard at all. 
Nalaya hrms. "But did you decide how to manage the fact that when one 
  person's making theirs, they might take a long time and others might take 
  a short time? You would have to have the last person's piece to work on 
  the next..." 
Opa says "Or you know what could also be fun is to do that same thing, but 
  with RP...we could, say, take turns posing sewing our sections, and the 
  story would be totally improvised? (brainstorming here) That shouldn't be 
  a problem, Nalaya, I can code it up so that only one person can 
  contribute at a time. I assume, Fiona, you meant this to be an ongoing 
  thing, for people to add to at their leisure?" 
Acacia welps, "One thing I wanted to do, as a project aside from this ( for 
  this project we just figured you'd wait til the previous person was done, 
  right Fi? ), was a quilting bee thing where everyone makes a patch based 
  off an idea or something, and then we RP sewing them all, and then 
  everyone gathers around and we try n' sort them into a story and then sew 
  them together or something. 
Daymon closes his eyes tightly and freezes. ;) 
Opa hi5s Acacia. Great minds... 
Daymon looks a bit tired and scampers off to his cot for a nap. 
Acacia returns hi5'age, "We rock." 
Broccal gets up from being confused by Fiona. 
Broccal says "Night everyone."

Opa thinks this sounds like lots of fun.

Fiona says "Yeah, we had sorta two types of thought. One would be an 
  improvisational one evening thing, where everyone adds on the spur of the 
  moment. The other was an ongoing project that could sit around somewhere 
  and people could add at their leisure." 
Opa says "Any reason why we can't do both? :)" 
Fiona smiles, "Nope. Just two different ways of going about it." 
Acacia shakes her head, "Nope, I think we were planning on doing both." 
Nalaya shakes her head, two things are better than one. 
Acacia says "Lookit all that headshakin'! ^_^" 
Opa nods. Playing devil's advocate, though, the ongoing, coded-object 
  method could end up taking up a lot of space if people write lots of 
  text. 
Nalaya thinks we look like we're dancin'... 
Fiona agrees, "Not to mention that, pessimistically speaking, our 
  weavertypes don't seem to get too enthused about projects like that. We 
  kinda have to be dragged into stuff, it seems like." :) 
Nalaya would do a piece. 
Acacia hrmms, "Yeah, it could take up alot of space, tho' if everyone just 
  works at making something not too long not too short, it really wouldnt' 
  be so much. We pump out enough big ol' desc'd objects anywho. 
Opa nods at Fiona. That's true. :) On the other hand, I'd rather see people 
  get enthusiastic about RP than coming together to write up descriptive 
  text. 
Acacia says "Plus, this would be something that could be around for 
  everyone to see, instead of just something made for somebody that's 
  sittin' round taking up space for no good reason. I think it'd be worth 
  it." 
Nalaya notes we could put it in here....then people who visit could look at 
  it too... 
Opa nods. And if it ends up being a real space hog, then we can decide to 
  get rid of it or keep it later. Well, if you guys give me 'design 
  specifications', I can code it. 
Haldi grins. Opa the code Master ;) 
Opa grins at Haldi. Or someone else can code it, I don't care. :)

Haldi is curious... would it be tres gauche (sp? :) to maybe post something 
  to the general bb to drum up interest in us again? Both for apprentices 
  and comissions. :) 
Opa says "Nope, not at all...actually, I've been thinking of doing 
  that...just a sort of 'hello Pern, the Weavercraft is as always open for 
  new apprentices and commission RP', that kind of thing." 
Acacia noddles, "With everyone running off here and there it feels like no 
  one's around anymore." 
Haldi smiles. I think alot of people in the general populace have no clue 
  about how they can actually commission an outfit or whatn ot, even it's 
  just for rp and they don't want/need the desc. :) 
Acacia eeps! "Mah honey's home I haveta dash :/" 
Opa hugs Acacia, CU later, then! 
Fiona locked up, and missed the last ten minutes or so. :(

  not much different from your baby blanket, though I took some parts out. 
  I have some new ideas for customizing it, though."

Haldi has absoluely no coding ambition like that. :) 
Fiona laughs at Haldi, "Aw, it's fun." 
Opa says "Well, coding isn't everybody's cup of...er...klah. :)" 
Haldi giggles. :) I'd /never/ get out and rp if I were into coding. :)
