Lenore walks through the doors from the Inner Courtyard to the south. Lenore has arrived. Lenore smiles. "Well, hello everyone!" Opa turns around and waves with a smile at Lenore's arrival. Zelez turns further, "And Lenore as well." Her smile is glad. Varina says "Opa! Lenore! Hello. :)" Lenore hugs all of you. "Good to see you!" Zelez hugs Lenore with all the affection of missing. Opa hugs all round with warmth before taking a seat. Weavers> Opa waves all round. Come join us, Iyles! :) Weavers> Varina says, "Yeah, I'm lonely at the apprentice table, too." Weavers> Varina says, "I mean journeyrank :)" Weavers> Iyles says, "D'oh! Meeting! Knew I forgot something..." Weavers> Zelez grins Opa waits a sec for Iyles. Iyles has arrived. Opa waves! Iyles tries to look somewhat inconspicuous? *wave* Zelez waves to Iyles Opa grins. That's okay, we hadn't quite started yet, beyond initial greetings. Iyles whews Opa clears her throat and thinks we can start now, although Kalera's told me she will be joining us a bit late. Weavers> Aldren pounds his head against something hard. Were we having a meeting thing tonight? Weavers> Opa chuckles. Yes, a planning session, Aldren...you're just in time, if you'd like to join us. Aldren has arrived. Opa waves! Aldren nods his greetings Lenore smiles and waves. You say "Alrightee everybody, we're here tonight to touch base on what people have done so far vis-a-vis Open Hall planning, to discuss more ideas, and to talk about increasing IC activity around the Hall. First off, I'd just like to make sure that everyone is aware of our plan to hold an Open Crafthall event?" Iyles says "I'm not, but that's my own fault for not being around." Zelez nods, she is. Aldren is. Opa will reiterate then, briefly. Basically it's our version of a Gather - a chance to show off our Crafthall, hold various events, contests, all that good stuff. Opa grins. And, naturally, to attract potential victi...er, apprentices. Iyles okays Zelez chuckes Cleona has arrived. Varina waves belatedly to everyone who arrived. :) You say "Thus far, in terms of projects which people have volunteered to take on, Amina and Masao are working on tours through the crafthall, Varina and Amiya have taken on the task of organizing mini-lessons and demos of simple weaving, etc. for the general public, Amina and Lenore are working on souvenir frocks for participating in the dye wars we're going to have, :) Lenore and Varina are working on more displays for the tent, and Amina is coding up a thimble-stacking contest." Opa waves to Cleona! :) Cleona waves hi. Cleona says "Sorry I'm late." Zelez smiles, to Cleona Lenore hugs Cleona. You say "Tasks that were discussed but don't seem to have been taken on are contacting the bakers to have foodstuffs available (I can do that), organizing dye wars and dye-soaked sponge tossing, tie-dye cloth canvas and painting canvas, and prizes for various contests." Zelez says "Thoughts on prizes?" Cleona could do prizes. Lenore has to idle for a bit. You say "Well, we'd probably want to have prizes such as tapestries, quilts, gowns, rugs, that sort of thing." Opa looks down at her notes. I have here the idea that there would be 'levels' of prizes...such as, if you win two prizes of, say, level 3, you can exchange them for one prize from level 2. Zelez says "How long will the open house go on for, then?" Opa grins at Cleona, nodding. Not that you'd be working alone, of course. :) Opa isn't sure whether that was discussed at the last meeting (I wasn't here, sad to say), but I have a general idea it should be two days long, or so? Varina nods, "sounds right to me." Cleona wonders if we set a date so she can lock it in on her wiz master calender? Opa doesn't think we have, Cleona. I'd really like to get the ball rolling with a bit more momentum before we can plan a date? Aldren has disconnected. Zelez says "Or we can plan somethin sufficiently far in advance?" Cleona nods, "I don't think there's anything that I'm aware of going on from the 9th until the 1st, except the usual meetings. Opa thinks the general idea is 'in about a month', though. Lenore returns briefly to say that this thinks a specific date would be good. Cleona nods, "First come, first served as far as things like the motd is concerned, etc. Lenore says "The only reason I didn't set a date at the last meeting is that I have had bad luck setting dates." You say "Well. We'll need to announce it at least a week in advance. So presumably we'd have to have it 99% ready by the announcement." Opa nods to Cleona. Right. Cleona says "Opa, what I'm saying is this..if someone else takes our dates, we're outta luck." Opa nods. True enough. Cleona couldn't do anything about it, wouldn't be ethical, etc. Lenore says "So let's decide on a date now. I think a weekend would be good." Zelez agrees Varina says "should it be one weekend day and one weekday?" Opa okeedokes and peeks in her calendar. Zelez says "As in, say, Friday and Sat?" Opa nods. There's a point...to give the weekend people as well as weekday people a chance. Lenore likes Friday and Saturday. Zelez nods Cleona checks her calender. :) "April 1st is tentatively taken, nothing else on here I see." You say "Well, three weeks from now is the 17th and 18th, and if we finish up by then, we can announce it and have it on the 24th and 25th. Anything later than that, and I think we'd start running into conflicts with people's final exams." Zelez is fairly sure she can't make either, but don't work it around her, of course. Her break means she won't have access, usually, chances are. Opa would love to have you around if at all humanly possible, Zelez. :) Zelez smiles, "The buildings are closed and I won't be going home, but I'll come if and when I can" Cleona says "Would we need 3 weeks to get ready?" Opa really doesn't know...I don't know how far along people's work has come this far. Varina, Lenore? Varina says "I've done some research on the weaving stuff, and amiya knows about spinning. but I'm having a real problem thinking of ways to make a demonstration interesting in VR." Cleona wonders if we could try to be done/close to in 2, and then reassess, if it looks good, schedule for the 3rd weekend. Cleona grins at Varina sympathetically. Opa thinks that sounds reasonable...how does that sound to everyone? Aim for finishing on the 10th and try to have it on the 17th? Opa clucks her tongue and can see the problems...I'm sure we can all get together and brainstorm ideas for you. Zelez smiles, "We have plenty of information (and I know plenty of people who can help me with info) so its a question of how to present it. Varina says "that will be really hard for me to make it by then. i'm flying home for a week next week." Varina says "and I won't have time for mush matters. but I can try. and I would appreciate brainstorming help greatly!" Opa grins. If that's the case, we can of course help you out with it. Zelez nods Cleona also has, offline, a bunch of descriptions of things she had made, including the men's clothing display that was in the tent, if any of that will be useful? You say "The last thing we want is for y'all to get needlessly stressed about something which should be fun. :)" Opa grovels all over Cleona. :) Zelez grins Cleona giggles. Cleona is still pouting over the corruption to her samplebook when it was downloaded. :/ You say "There are views in the tent as well as real objects." Opa also sniffles over that. Cleona oh wells. Cleona says "Just words on a screen..." Zelez nods. Although well and carefully written ones Opa grins. Your words are more than just words, Cleona. :) But okay, so we now have more displays-slash-prizes, which is great. Zelez volunteers for something, for what, she doesn't yet know :) You say "Well, let me see. The war games and sponge-tossing I believe are to be pure RP events, yes?" Zelez says "Probably easier that way, although you might want a scoreboard." Zelez thinks you'd better not commit her to being on line then, so keep it to preparatory things :) Opa hms. Well, we can have one of us standing by to referee if there are any IC disputes in the war games, and the enjoyment out of the sponge-toss is presumably if you manage to splat the master good. :) Opa also sees here the idea that some of the splat dyes are to be permanent, some washable, and that we can RP one apprentice mixing them up. :) Varina says "Are we going to have signs with directions for the war games games and sponge toss?" Varina has disconnected. Opa eeps at Varina's disconnect, but my first reaction is yes, we should. You say "We'd need to also have a sign with a schedule, naturally, and the locations of each event or display." You say "Is there anyone who wants to write a general outline of what the sponge toss and war games are all about? I can do it, but is there anyone who'd like the chance first?" Opa drops a pin. :) *plink* Zelez is still conscious, thinks she'd not be right with game instructions ... Cleona doens't know anything about it, so... Opa nods. Alrightee then, I'll assign it to myself, unless Iyles comes out of his idle and shows interest. Erm, yes. The canvas dyeing-slash-painting. The summary of the last meeting mentioned coding some sort of object to which people could add little descriptions. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work, but I assumed that if the canvas was truly huge, people would 'desc' their own little corners, eventually creating a very nice menagerie of imagery. Iyles says "I'm not idling. I just don't have any clue about games.." Zelez thinks a public note-pad type thing could take care of the canvas Opa grins. Well, that's okay. :) I think the war games would be more for the younger guests, but hey, I'm sure riders would decide to heck with decorum and get involved. :) Opa wonders if you could expand, Zelez? Cleona chuckles, "We're not calling it war games I hope? Opa grins. No, that's just what I've been calling it. Any ideas on a more Pernese title? Zelez says "Can't think who, at least half a year ago an apprentice gave me a notepad, I have the code, just haven't loaded it back up. Basically, there's a comment for adding comments to it, a command for seeing all the added comments, or all the comments with some series of letters in common, and code for deleting it." You say "Except instead of comments it'd be people's descriptions of the dyeing they've done. That actually, now I think of it, could be combination pure-RP and nifty coding gadget. Those who wish to RP doing the painting and tying of cloth can do so, and they can also add descriptions if that's more their cup of tea." Opa pictures two huge canvases stretched out on the landing field with room for creative energy for loads of people. Zelez nods, "Exactly. I can load the code back up if you'd like Cleona mmms and will think of it. Varina has connected. Opa nods. That'd be fun, with a little fiddling to make it feasible for us. Varina grumbles. sorry. Opa patpats Varina. Zelez nods. Opa makes a little notation. Zelez for the code. :) Okeedoke. Next...it was also proposed that at the end, we could auction off the canvases. Anyone keen to do auction code, or to spoof the auctioneer if code wouldn't work out? Cleona can't code. Zelez is pretty sure she could manage the code. They can only offer marks, right? Doyou want the highest mark offer displayed, or blind auction Opa hms. Y'know, it'd be kind of interesting if someone offered an uncut jewel or something. :) Well, let's discuss that...ideas? Zelez nods. In that case a blind auction would work better. THough which is work more, 200 marks or a jewel? Lenore returns. "That's what I had pictured re: the canvasses, Opa." Opa nods. In that case there's no way we could figure out code to accommodate every possible *item* which is bid, so we'd have to spoof instead of code. Opa nods to Lenore. Yes, the auction for the canvasses. Zelez nods, "And certainly more interesting. Actually, if you wanted people to be able to offer bids in absentia? Lenore says "I mean big canvasses." Opa doesn't follow? Lenore says "I was thinking of a regular auction with an auctioneer." Weavers> Kalera is here...she had modem problems. Zelez says "Keep an ongoing list of offers, in terms of services, or objects they're thinking of. She nods to Opa. As long as you can figure out values :)" Lenore |Opa pictures two huge canvases stretched out on the landing field with room ryv Weavers> Opa hugs and welcomes! :) Weavers> Zelez says, "Hello!" Opa ohohohs. I see. Yes. Okay, great, our visions match. :) Kalera has arrived. Kalera runs into the hall, looking a little dischevled. Lenore says "How would bidding in absentia make for interesting RP?" Opa ahs, I see, so the auction starts at the beginning when the canvasses have hardly begun to be painted, and by the end they go to the two highest bidders? Opa waves to Kalera. :) Lenore smiles at Kalera. Kalera pushes a lock of hair behind her ear and looks for an empty spot on the J'man's table. Zelez says "Have the list accumulate, then at the actual auction, read the list and decide what constitues the highest bid, and then have people try to outbid that? Or do 2 canvasses, one each way?" Kalera mumbles something to Opa as she sits down. Zelez says "Or just go for doing them all RPd." Zelez glances across with a smile for Kalera Varina waves to Kalera Opa isn't sure...what did you have in mind, Lenore? Lenore hrms. "or perhaps the canvass goes to the person who does the most creative design on it." Opa thinks either way it'd be interesting. Zelez nods to Lenore. That's a good idea Kalera tries to figure out what everyone is talking about since she got here late. Lenore tries to think of how to combine the two. Lenore says "Each person votes for the best design and the designer gets a mark for each vote? hrm." Opa Hms. Zelez thinks. Or if there're the prizes, have a certain number of votes = a prize level Lenore says "or maybe we should have at auction and one for the best design." Varina says "where would the marks come from? is there a fee to draw on it?" Opa thinks the auction will be separate from the prizes. Zelez was talking about voting for best designs, actually Kalera nods. I think I should be. Opa ahs, I see...that's neato. Lenore thinks the prize for the best canvas design should be the canvas though. Zelez nods. In which case there won't be an auction and we don't have to worry about amounts Opa nods. Alrightee. Heck, we can auction anything we like. Kalera says "It isn't like we don't make anything here." Opa adds, "If we want to auction at all. But I've never seen an auction on the MUSH, so it'll be new and dynamic. :)" Lenore says "How about one canvas is auctioned and one canvas is given to the best designer?" Zelez remembers the raffles at Benden HOld was it? 1 mark for a raffle ticket and then there were hourly drawings Opa nods. I was going to propose something like that later on. :) Kalera thinks about the silent auctions she has been to. Lenore says "I want all of you to ask yourselves when you think about activities is does the encourage RP? If the answer is no, or I'm not sure, then we shouldn't be doing it." Opa agrees, nodding. Zelez nods Kalera nixes the silent auction idea.. Lenore says "How do raffles encourage RP? I don't see how they do." Zelez was brainstorming Lenore says "ahh, okie." Opa thinks that a totally RPed auction would definitely be nifty. We could establish basic rules, and make sure that there are 'rounds' to accommodate for people's lagging. Sort of FL hatchings, except one pose per auctioneer pose. :) Cleona was at an auction once..at Bitra long long ago. Lenore says "That sounds like fun, Opa." Lenore says "Was it fun, Cleona?" Cleona nods, "It was, but the people with the most 'money' took the prizes. Lenore says "Well, there is no money now. So how we manage that?" Opa thinks we could pull a RP auction off rather well, if we marketed it right. Kalera says "I have an idea." Lenore says "yes, Kalera?" Iyles has disconnected. [Hm...a portion of the log seems to be lost, here, but Kalera's suggestion was that people receive tokens or something for participating in all the activities, so the more activities you participate in, the more tokens you can get. At the end, you can bid at the auction with tokens instead of marks. As well, it appears that I brought up the issue of weekly TPs or IC dinners around this point, too.] Opa kewls. Kalera hums. Zelez smiles Zelez grins Kalera has to go...roommate wants the phone. Opa expands while Lenore seems to be struggling with her idle. The person who is running the 'event' would set up the time, plan the theme or a TP, post the time and the general theme to the bboard, and also send a report to Lenore if she's unable to make it. The event can be simple, but just so those attending can RP off of it, and hopefully bring us together as a RPing unit. Kalera says "I'll volunteere for the week of March 6th.." Opa nods to Kalera. Thanks for coming. :) Cleona nods. Kalera has spring break and will be around anyway. Opa's week-long break is over, *sob*. Zelez is waiting for hers Cleona says "Anything else we need to talk about?" Opa does have a few more ideas she'd like to toss out, but as this has gone on for two hours, they can wait if people are dragging. Kalera is thinking about Wednesday. Opa nods to Kalera. If you'd like to arrange it, that would be superduper. :) Zelez smiles Opa also notes that anyone who wants to can come to the daytime version of this meeting tomorrow at 1pm ET...I'll be bringing up the same issues, but I'm sure some new ground will be covered. In any case, I'll be sending new developments to the mailing list. Weavers> Kalera says, "what is the wvr global mail name?" Varina would still appreciate any ideas on how to make demos interesting. I didn't consider that when I volunteered :) Opa thus adjourns, if no one has anything else they'd like to bring up. :) Opa nods. Ah, yes. Weavers> Lenore says, "there is none." Opa will announce your dilemma tomorrow, Varina, and in the meantime anyone with snippets of ideas about RPing lessons should feel absolutely free to contribute. Weavers> Zelez says, "But there is the wvr bboard" Varina quotes from a book, "The weaver makes a new heddle. She is already using a smaller shed roll and batten." Varina :) Cleona giggles. Opa looks transfixed, really. :) Zelez grins. Zelez is actually sewing during this meeting. Amazing :) Varina was going through all her fabrics tonight, Zelez, and getting ready to cut out :) Kalera has been drop spinning...like usual. Zelez wants a sewing machine one day - everything by hand takes so long Weavers> Lenore says, "post to the bboard if you want to say something to all the Weavers, Kalera. :^)" Weavers> Kalera says, "already did." Weavers> Kalera points to #12 for everyone to read. Weavers> Lenore says, "Thanks, Kalera. :^)" Kalera really has to go now. Weavers> Varina darns and apologizes but she'll be out of touch that week. sorry, Kalera. Weavers> Opa will be asking at tomorrow's meeting if anyone wants to take the following week. I've an idea, but I'd prefer to do it after the open crafthall is over. Cleona waves to Kalera. Opa chains Kalera to the tables. No way. :) Kalera waves. "But...Opa! I have to go! My ride is waiting....:) Lenore waves to Kalera and gently nudges Opa away. Opa muahahahahas...oof. Zelez waves to Kalera Kalera scritches her little green. "Ok..I'm going." "Nice seeing everyone again!" Kalera pushes open one of the pair of doors to the north and walks outside. Kalera has left.
