Notes

This was one of the descriptions lost in the hard drive crash, however, it's been restored to this archive through the kindness of T'garrick, who had actually kept his copy through the various DB moves and quota changes and gave one to me. Thanks, T'gar!

Description

This tapestry is set against the background of the Benden Weyr Star Stones. Beyond them, outlined in soft grey threads, are the snowcapped peaks of the Northern Barrier Range. The sky above is woven in muted shades of blue and grey, depicting a cold Benden morning. In the foreground is the watchdragon, an alert cedar brown beast with his head up, scanning the horizon with whirling green eyes, as if expecting someone. There is a flame-shaped mark on his right hind leg of black threads. Flitting and diving about him are four firelizards - an exuberant sunset blue, a flaming bronze, a large copper brown, and a little queen hovering just over the dragon's head, woven in pale gold. Flying towards the Weyr in the distance is the object of the brown dragon's anticipation - a splendid dusky gold queen dragon woven in the brightest possible gold threads, the wings almost shimmering as you turn your head this way and that. Her mouth is open in what must certainly be a bugle of greeting to the watchdragon. Behind one corner is a lavender and white badge indicating that this is the work of Opa, Apprentice Weaver.
