The great hall of the Kings Court for the last 6,000 years, Kings Crest has been attacked, sacked, pillaged, occupied, crushed, retaken, rebuilt, and reinstated as capital so many times that the city itself has almost passed into legend.

As the home of the Kings Palace, Kings Crest is the largest, grandest, most stunning city in all the empire.   Its towers and minarets rise into the skies with grace, as sweeping bridges span the expanses overhead.  The glorious and gigantic front gate is guarded by two 50 foot statues of Telemas and Wexley, the warrior brothers who founded the city by wresting control of the land from Orcish raiders.

It is the home of the Kings Armies, and of his personal guard, The Scarlet Brigade.  Just outside its walls are the grand wizards academy and the school of higher science.

Outside the palace walls is the government district.  The passages and walkways of this area are best described as labyrinthine, and many locals make good money helping travelers find the agency they are searching for.  The bureaucracy required to run the empire is truly astounding, and the governmental district takes up almost half of the city.  The great memorials, monuments, and museums of Kings Crest are also held here.

After that are the homes, shops, and parks of the city.   Nearest the government district are the great shops and taverns, inns and stores.   Hundreds of travelers pass through the city every day, either vacationing or on official business so the inns are always busy and the night life always brisk.  Past that are the actual homes of the people of Kings Crest, where they buy goods, and the farms and fields that support the city.

Kings crest is a city in constant action, and to the uninitiated, it is either amazing or frightening.  The city is filled with the noise of a thousand languages and dialect, people of all races (including some monster races) are seen walking the streets, at times magic may light the skies, a small contingent of Griffin riding scouts may dart overhead, or an ill built 'flying machine' may plummet from the skies.

The castle of the king is the centerpiece of the city.   Surrounded by three defensive walls, holding its own stables and barracks, and with all of its permanent staff living on the grounds, it can almost function as a city on its own.  The palace has been rebuilt every time it was destroyed on the exact spot where the last on stood and in the center of the castle lies the great courtyard where the only remaining piece of the first palace of Kings Crest stood.  It is the brick walkway and stone dais of the flagpole.  When the city is sacked it is the duty of the last remaining NCO's to defend the flag, and ensure that the flag never falls.  Over time the bricks of the walkway of the dais have been etched with the names of the NCO's who have died over time to defend the flag, and young officers in training clean these stones every day and memorize the names of those who fell, so that they may remember that the blood of enlisted men is what keeps the kingdom free, and that it is an officers duty to try and stop more names from being added to that walkway.

The palace is actually several different buildings joined together through tunnels and hallways, making it seem larger than it is.  The underpassageways of the palace are riddled with small tunnels and secret passages from the many Kings Crests that stood before, and no one knows all of its secrets.
