This picture is one of the most special pictures I have. My friend and roommate at the time, Risa Gumpp, and I co-directed The Importance of Being Earnest during the second semester of our senior year. We did it without sponsorship (which is why it was held in the Academy lounge). My friends from home (from left) Julian's little brothers (in back), Julian, Heather, Maggie, myself, and Liz came all the way to Muncie to see it (as did my father and Tricia), and this picture is of them posing on the set. I think their coming to the play was one of the nicest things each of them has ever done for me.
Speaking of Tricia, here's a very old picture of her from what I think was my 1st birthday party. Although this picture was taken a long time ago, I have placed it in this section because I wouldn't have made it through senior year without Tricia. She came to visit me once a week for about 4 months to tutor me in math and generally assist in keeping me sane.
All of the pictures I have from the play are of lousy quality, but from completness' sake, here two of them are. The first is of Gwendolen and Jack, played by Jen and Cyril. They were both absolutely wonderful, of course.
The second is of Jack and Algernon, played by Cyril and Matt Trout. I've already complimented Cyril, so I'll just flatter Matt here: Matt rocks.
Chris Short and Laurie McKinney (my first-semester senior year roommate) took people's money before the show and tried to keep the curtains (white butcher paper) from falling down.
This is a photo of my second semester Art History class, taken during our field trip to the Chicago Art Institute. That's me on the far left under the lion, Laurie next to me, also under the lion, and Chris underthe lion's tale. The only other people whose names I remember are Becky Lawson and April Adair, who are hugging in the center of the group.
Now for the prom photos. I did not go to prom, but I did go downstairs before prom to take pictures of my friends that did. Here are Chris and Jeanette. Jeanette was Lady Bracknell, and she was great.
Next we have Joe and Melissa Marvell, who (with the help of her father and his truck) transported our Earnest couch and thereby began summer-long friendship wherein Melissa, Melissa Drain (who played Cecily and was awesome, and whose prom picture with Justin Kloer (who played Chausable very well. Are you tired of all the compliments yet?) didn't scan well as they both had bright red demon eyes).
This is a shot of Kerrin at the Bloomington South graduation ceremony. He was the speaker, and he did a fantastic job. Unfortunately it was very dark in the auditorium, so the picture didn't turn out very well. After the ceremony, as per the tradition, all the graduates frolicked in Showalter Fountain outside the auditorium. My silly friends dragged me in, too.
