Reality Interface Systems

A suits reality interface system is the next most crucial system next to the chassis. The term Reality Interface is applicable to whatever equipment has been applied to facilitate the troopers knowlege and experience of his environment. The Reality Interface systems used can be anything from horixontal slots cut in the face of the helmet to see through, to high powered virtual reality systems which makes power armor combat look a bit more like a video game than actual combat. Note that this system will always be placed enclosed, inside of the helmet.

Aperture-based reality interface: This simplest model relies on openings in the helmet, protected by projectile resistent glass or plastic so the pilot can see. Unlike common belief, very few power armor units ever use this system. (Only chipwell, and a few very cheap systems use anything like it) Desert Star Has never employed this model for any purpose, but offers it to mercs looking for a cheap interface, for pennies!
(Init:-6, Long Range Weapons:-2)
Enhanced Aperture-based reality interface: This is the same type as the previous model, but with the addition of limited lenses and auditory receptors to the suit. Units of this type include Nightvision: 200' and Infrared: 1000'.
(Init: -4, Long Range Weapons: No modification)
Wideband Aperture-based: Wideband increases the limited additions that enhanced aperture grants the wearer, with lense arangements that radically improve the troopers peripheral vision. Included is some simple targeting assistance granted by a basic targeting computer. Anti Dazzle (As it is known by, which is actually nothing more than responce tinting lenses), Infrared: 2,000', and Nightvision: 2,000'. While being a signifigant improvement to the other systems, the lense array are distorting, tiresome, and troubling to use. Audio quality are equal to human hearing.
(Init: -2, Long Range Weapons: +1)
Full HUD Wideband: In addition to improving the wideband images, Full HUD adds an automatic targeting and aquisition system which makes the troopers weaponary much more responsive and dangerous, allowing tandem mounted weapons to be fired as a single action. It is at this level that the penalties of the fully enclosed helmet are finally eliminated.Anti Dazzle (As it is known by, which is actually nothing more than responce tinting lenses), Infrared: 2,000', and Nightvision: 2,000'. In addition to these optics, Image enhancement is also supplied. Audio is equal to the range and sensitivity of amplified hearing (360') It is at this level that the CS, NGR, and SRR have advanced to. These types are the most commonly used types, and even in the NOMAD army, this is the most common.
(Init: 0, Long Range Weapons: +2 )
Environment-Calculating-Integrated, Wideband HUD: While somewhat tricky to learn to use, this wideband HUD adds computing power for the trooper to interpret the geometry of surrounding terrain. Distances, angles, deflections, ect., are expressed to the trooper symbolicly, and if relavant, graphicly. With ECI HUD, the trooper begins to recieve some support in using the superior abilities of his suit, including the ability to target up to three separate weapons simutainiously. Anti Dazzle, Infrared, Nightvision, and Image Enhancement are supplied as well. Audio is slightly more advanced giving the unit an enhanced range to the amplified hearing (450'!)
(Init: +2, Long Range Weapons: +2)
VRI-Virtual Reality Interface: This is the most advanced unit developed in Desert Stars arsenal. The VRI interprets the troopers environment for him and presents the information for him in sophisticated graphics, and limited auditory warnings. It is at this level that the trooping is very little different from netrunning. Competent troopers so equiped become truely deadly, with their simultainious targeting of four weapons! There are a few different variations on the VRI in use, differing from one another slightly in quality, size, most importantly response time. Anti Dazzle, Infrared, Nightvision, Image Enhancement, as well as thermal targeting: 2,000' Audio is Identical to the ECI HUD, (450').
(Init: +3, Long Range Weapons: +3)
