Grenade Launchers

Grenade Launchers and power armor units have been used together since the conception of the first units in the early 21st century. Since that time several more advanced weapons have been developed to fill this potentially devistating weapons role, making it nearly obsolete, but in the time of RIFTS nothing is scrapped just because there is something better out there, it is always utilized in some theatre. Grenade Launchers are no different in this aspect, as they easily fill the roles of a Heavy PA Weapon, or the role of an Anti Personnel Weapon, but often times cost less money than the weapons in those categories, and their ammunition more easily attained than specialized ammunition for say a Rapid Fire Field Cannon, or specific S-mart rail gun rounds, making this category of weaponary, both desirable, and realistically efficient.

"Gorilla" 40mm Grenade Launching Pistol: This weapon is the standard carried weapon issued to the Gorilla Power Armor unit, and thus was also it's namesake. It is most often used as an armor peircing G.L., using the same rounds as the ever popular Wellington Industries Gernade Launchers. It is an automatic G.L. making it either a semi automatic weapon (ie one pull of the trigger equals one round fired) or fully automatic (uses the standard burst rules for automatic weapons, ie short bursts, long bursts, ect.) Note: This weapon is always hand carried.
"Goliath" 20mm Grenade Launcher: Another grenade launcher named after the primary unit that is equiped with it. It is a internally mounted Grenade launcher that uses a Gernade that is half as large as the Gorilla's, making it's rounds a little harder to come by, since most of those produced in North America are 40 mm, although for it's purpose of Anti-Personnel, it is more than enough for the job. It is typically mounted in the forearm, but it is possible to mount it above one or both of the shoulders of a unit. It can and has been mounted as a dual system with a light pulse laser with it, but this is uncommon due to it's then increased size and maintenence difficulty.
"Annihilator" 40 mm Automatic Grenade Launcher: This is another of the big bad boys that uses 40 mm shells. In effect it is a knock off of the Wellington Industries WI-GL21 (described under the WI-GL20 on pg 105 of RIFTS: Mercenaries, but is pictured held by a Triax Red Type Borg, on pg 104 of RIFTS: World Book 10: Juicer Uprisings), with a slight modification to the ammo feed unit allowing it to carry an overhead wrap around ammo drum that holds fifty rounds, instead of WI's oversized and awkward clip that has a nasty habit of catching on debris in a battlefield type situation. It is almost always a carried weapon, but can occasionally be mounted.
