OPTIMUS
written by Shannon Michelle Haddad
It's hard to describe, in words, what your life hasmeant to me... For your infinite wisdom and gentle kindness, sacrifice and purest soul... Have given me a new measure for life and what living can really be.
It's hard to say how you might have touched my world, Or the effect when all's been told. But it's a sad commentary on the circumstance today, When someone like you only exists in a commodity, To be mundanely bought and sold.
Often I sit and think about how your world must be: Of great deeds done, of values kept and the dreams only you held dear. And of the pain you must have felt while losing friends In the struggle to be free.
And without ever really meeting you, I must now bid you farewell... Your time in the light was too short, I fear. Let worlds collide and races die, before there will be another equal tragedy. And let it be known, far and near, wherever you were, whenever you were, If ever you were, you will always have friends who love you here.
