| This is the season of Scully's cancer. Mulder dealing with the fact that he is probably going to lose her and feeling guilty. We are going to pretend that Never Again, Never happened. Now Mulder is still doing his protective ditching and making Scully pissed but notice who is the first person she tells about her cancer???? You got it Mulder. He doesn't ditch her again after he learns of her cancer either. Mulder wrestles with inner demons and Scully deals with dying. I'm going to get the cancer episodes out of the way first, then go through the rest of the season. We will start with Memento Mori, when she learns about the cancer, writes her tell all journal and Mulder does some funky poaching in a nice Mulder hair Mulderwear episode. And if you still don't understand what Mulder wear is you haven't been to my Links section yet. Shame on you. Memento Mori There are sparks galore this episode. Scully discovers she has cancer and the protective side comes out of Mulder. Mulder and Scully realize there life is not completely whole with out he other and Mulder personally realizes how much he depends on Scully. When he shows up at the hospital, he has a big huge bouquet of Flowers for her. Then he uses a cheap excuse to explain them away. Doesn't work. There is an aprehensive silenece filled with mutual nodding then Scully tells him. " Is it operable, treatable?" " I refuse to believe that, I don't accept that there must be some people who receive treatment for this." he stutters, his eyes tear up and choke his speak. Scully's tell all journal. That is a spark in its self. give me some more time and I will have parts of it on here for analysis. At the end, that hallway scene is a foreshadowing of the Hallway scene in the movie without the bee. Mulder tells her in a way his feelings for her, though she brushes them off as something only her best friend could tell her. " I got scared something had happened and I read some of what you wrote." "There is a way and you will find it to save yourself . . . the truth will save ou I think it will save both of us." Mulder smiles, hugs her, petting her hair, and brushing it behind her ear looking deep in her eyes with a longing loving look, then he kisses her forehead gently his lips lingering as he continues to hold her. I mean it we just need a few more of those scenes and it would statisfy me. Demons Scully is in the Alpha Woman Protective mode throughout this episode, and for good reason. When Mulder's demons come out, they come out in full force. Mulder wakes up in the hotel room, and immediately calls Scully and tells her where he is, now that is at 5 am. At 6:15 am, Scully has driven from D.C. to Rhode Island and is pulling up at the hotel. If that's not love what is it? She finds him in the shower naked briefly admires the view then goes into doctor mode, " Your in shock" She says still staring at his naked body, no Dr. Scully you are. The Mulder/Scully trust factor though is definitely at its peak. Would you sit there wet and naked save a skimpy hotel towel while she examined you? She touches his face shoulders back lightly like a caress during the exam. " Did you receive a blow to the head?" she ruffles his hair and brief runs her fingers through it soothingly. Then when he refuses medical attention "Your taking a big risk, Mulder, I feel strongly about this."Then Mulder acknowledges her concern with "I know you do , but its my risk." He understands her caring about him but doesn't fell worthy of her concern. Okay maybe I read a little to much into that, but then again, Maybe I didn't. At the end after he pulls the trigger and thinks he shot Scully, he sobers from the drug induced haze, relizing what he had just done, and collaspes in sobs. He thinks he has killed the one person who cared about him, the one person who loved him unconditionally all for his self centered cause. Scully holds him her head laying across his back, rubbing his arm and his chest comforting him. |
