Sounds like a nice club, come on Dara." A tall black woman with striking blue eyes said to her companion as she started towards the club. "Aren't we supposed to be dropping by to see CJ first Kai? It is the reason we're in New York." Dara said, grabbing Kai's arm, making her look into her serious brown eyes. "Later; from the way these addresses run, she's like down the street. Leave it to CJ to live two doors away from a club. I have to get my groove on, lil sis can wait for a few hours." She said, gently removing Dara's hand and heading into the club. Two hours later Mulder walked up on stage and smiled as he took the mike in hand. "OK everybody listen up." The crowd screamed, chanting "Mulder, Mulder, Mulder!" "OK now that I have your attention, before I introduce our band for the night, Dave lights on CJ." CJ's eyes widened as the lights focused on her. She covered her face in embarrassment. "See told you she wouldn't be home Dara." Kai said, watching to see what happened next. "Aww come on CJ, let everyone see those pretty green eyes. Today is CJ's Birthday and you know our grand tradition here at the Fox's Den." The crowd screamed and cheered as a shower of balloons and ribbon fell from the ceiling, singing happy birthday as Mulder hopped off the stage and went over to CJ hugging her tightly. "I'm going to kill you!" CJ said as she pulled from him a little. "Come on Kai, let's really give her a surprise." Dara said starting over to her. They stopped dead in their tracks when Mulder bent and kissed CJ hungrily. "WHOOOOOHOOOOO, get her Mulder!" "Dang let her breath man!" the crowd heckled. Mulder pulled away with a smile, mouthing "I love you baby, happy birthday." Kai and Dara double blinked. Did that just happened? They thought as they looked at each other then back at CJ and Mulder in disbelief. "CJ? Dating a white guy?" Kai finally gasped in shock, "Ms Black militant queen?!" "Well I heard she brought some one to that reunion a last year that sent the family into an uproar." Dara said matter of factly. "Well I have to know, come on follow them." Kai said following Mulder and CJ as they pulled away from the crowd. Kai and Dara followed them up to the owner's box, watching as Mulder pulled CJ into another passionate kiss as he sat slowly in a chair. He pulled away, murmuring a soft I love you before kissing her again. "Taste good lil sis?" Kai said suddenly, making CJ pull away from Mulder quickly. CJ smiled brightly "HEY! KAI, DARA!! Oh my god I didn't know you two were in town." "Um we were here to surprise you." Dara said her eyes shifting back to Mulder "Yeah, but I think we're the one's who got surprised." Kai said sarcastically. CJ gave her THE LOOK, as she ran her fingers down Mulder's jaw lightly, making him refocus on her. "Fox Mulder, my older sisters Dara, and Kai." "Hi, " Mulder said standing quickly and reaching out his hand for them to shake. They ignored it, glaring at him and he smiled, sitting back down, looking out the window over the crowd. Kai motioned for CJ to come over to them and whispered sternly, "CJ have you lost your everlasting mind?!!" "What do you mean?" CJ asked innocently "He's a white boy, are you aware of what Mom and Dad are going to do when they . . ." Dara started "I know what they're going to do, they did it at the reunion when I brought him. Please don't judge him by appearance, just get to know him and .. ." "No CJ, no this is not right!" Kai said louder, making Mulder turn and see if everything was all right. "You don't know him." "And I don't care to." "That's not fair, your not giving him a chance Kai. He's the best . . ." "What did I say? I'm disappointed in you CJ, I just know Dad is furious!" "He was . . . look where you staying?" "The Travers on Broad." Dara injected, letting Kai calm down. "Stay with us." "US? You LIVE with HIM??!!" Kai said in shock. "Yeah, Nick and I. He has a loft in the building down the block. We have more than enough room." "Sure we'll come by tomorrow. Thanks." Dara said, gently pushing a furious Kai out the door. "Bye CJ." "Bye." CJ said, smiling as they left. "Hey you okay baby?" Mulder said coming over to her, hugging her gently. "Yeah I'm fine, come on, I want to dance." Next morning Dara knocked on the door and nodded in approval. "Nice place." Kai said reluctantly "Very, he might not be too bad." Dara said as Mulder opened the door, bare-chested, a pair of Black satin pajama bottoms on. "Not bad at all." Dara murmured, surveying his naked torso. "No CJ the blue one. Hey Dara and Kai?" he said turning his attention back to the two women at his door. "Yep that's right." "Come on in. I'll take those." He said, grabbing their suitcases and heading in the apartment. "Why the blue one Tiger I like the red." CJ called out of the bedroom. "I can't walk in there with a bright red shirt on." Mulder responded with a smile. "You wear something over it anyway." "Not when I walk in there, I'll never live it down. The blue one with the tie you just bought." Mulder stopped in front of the guestrooms "Here you go either one, they share a bathroom." Skyler came out of his room, stopping when he saw Kai and Dara "Hi I'm Skyler." He said before heading off to get some coffee. "Running a hotel?" Kai said sarcastically. "No, he was my roommate before CJ and Nick moved in. I've got enough room though. I'll make some fresh coffee, and I got some fresh bagels this morning if you're hungry." He said as he left to make some more coffee. "Hey Tiger like this?" CJ said flashing him an outfit "Yeah that's good, thank you. Your sisters are here." he said as he put some cream cheese on a bagel and pouring some coffee, bringing it back to CJ. "Here." "Mulder, you are a knee jerk spoiler thank you. When do you get off work?" "3." "K see you then, can I borrow the car?" "Sure, catch." He said throwing her the keys, "I'll see you this afternoon." he said as he headed out to the kitchen. Skyler handed him his briefcase "Need a car?" Skyler said flashing him the keys to his car "yeah thanks." "I'll be at the club later there redoing the lighting." "K later." 30 minutes later CJ came out of the bedroom, buttoning her shirt as she headed to the kitchen. "Hey Sky." CJ said, kissing him gently on the forehead, ruffling his curly hair. "Hey baby." "What's up with the housewife routine?" Kai said shortly "Hey Dara and Kai. What? I like to pick out his clothes." "Oh which reminds me," Skyler said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a wad of cash, "The Tiger wanted you to have it just in case you wanted to go shopping or something." "K thanks." "Tiger??" Kai said with a chuckle. "Mulder, he's my Tiger." CJ said with a mischievous smile "I don't want to know why. CJ I mean it . . ." Kai started "He seems really nice, what does he do besides the club?" Dara asked, grabbing a bagel, "Oh, there still warm." "Yeah there's a bagel shop across the street. He's a magistrate Part-time." "Nice. He's a cutie, seems really sweet, a lot better for you than Steven was." "Anyone's better than Stephen. Mulder spoils me unmercilessly well . . ." CJ said flashing her the money and smiling, "want to go shopping? Mulder's treat?" Dara smiled "Sure, I think Kai's too busy fuming to enjoy it." "What he get you for your birthday?" Kai asked sharply, glaring at Dara and CJ. CJ held out her arm proudly, flashing the emerald tennis bracelet on her arm. "He said he loves how emeralds bring out my eyes." "Yeah that sounds like him." Skyler said with a smile, "My tiger knows how to spoil you CJ. Need anything while I'm out today??" he said standing slowly "No thanks. Your just as bad about spoiling me Skyler." "Of course, we have to make sure our baby is well taken care of," He said kissing her on the forehead, ruffling her hair. "You could use a touch up." "I know I'll do that later. He gave me enough for that too." CJ said taking a sip of coffee. "Nails too." He said heading back to his bedroom "God Sky ok." CJ rolled her eyes, "He is so gay." She whispered to her sisters "I heard that." Skyler said peeking his head back around the corner. Two days later "It took a while, but I think Kai is beginning to really like Mulder." CJ wrote into her journal, "She'd never admit it though. Hopefully the rest of my family is as accepting when I tell them about us. It's amazing that it didn't really matter to me if Kai and Dara liked Mulder. I think Mulder was proud of me for that. I think he was worried that I'd do what I did last time and run. He still fears losing me, I have to do everything in my power to dispel those fears." "Then marry me CJ." He said softly. CJ looked up from her journal to see him reading over her shoulder. "Mulder!" she said reproachfully, closing her journal quickly "I'm sorry, I just . . . sorry." He said walking away for her slowly. CJ smiled at him "Mulder . . ." he turned quickly, "Soon, ok?" he nodded and continued to their bedroom.
