Next day 7:30 am Scully untangled herself from a bad case of Mulder cling. If he got any closer, he'd be my skin. Sometimes he's too dependant on me. She turned and looked at him peaceful, beautiful despite the ugly purple bruise around his eye, at least the swelling went down. She wouldn't have him any other way, clingy and all. Mulder woke up at 8:00a.m. Thank god it's Friday, he thought instantly. The endless paperwork they had ignored bouncing from case to case, had finally caught up with them. Two mountains of it rested on their desks, waiting to pounce on them when they walked in this morning. He sat up and had a slight feeling of Deja vu when he saw the light gray suit, light blue shirt and neutral reddish tie that awaited him. Must be warm out. He had learned to tell the weather by the way Scully dressed him. Light colors meant it was warm and sunny. Slightly darker colors meant cloudy or rain, and Dark heavy fabrics meant cold. When did he stop dressing himself? Mulder tried to remember. Since the D. J. ordeal ended? He thought about it as he cleaned up and shaved. He came back out barely missing a wandering Fox Jr. " Whoa sorry little guy, exploring your new haunt?" Mulder marveled at the puppy, he had a very confident air about him. He didn't even cry last night when we put him to bed. Fox jr. regarded Mulder as he dressed. Strange, strange human, he thought, I like the red headed one but this one, this one is not like the others. Mulder sensed his eyes on him and turned to the dog. " This is how you tie a tie, when you get older I'll let you do it." Very Strange but nice, the little dog thought as he laid down to watch Mulder tie a tie. Scully listened amused as she sipped her coffee in the kitchen, turning to Kaja. " Daddy's a little crazy this morning, don't mind him." Kaja nodded curling up in a forming sunbeam thinking, Daddy's always crazy, tell me something I didn't know. As Mulder came around the corner Fox jr. nipping at his heels, Scully was struck speechless. Would it be like this every time he walked into a room? Would she be able to handle this feeling for the rest of her life? Mulder kissed her forehead and sat at the table. "I thought they were joking about the Father/Son bond." Scully smiled as she put Fox jr. and his food in his playpen. " So what's on the docket for today paperwork or more paperwork?" Mulder said reaching for the cup of coffee Scully handed to him. Things were going so well at work she thought, no fuss, complete freedom, acceptance. They were taken seriously for once, no more Spooky and Ice queen to there face, maybe behind their backs, but not to their face. Only Skinner knew of their marriage and that's how they planned on keeping it. No need to mess up a good thing plus, the Bureau would just try to separate them. Scully felt overdue for something to happen though. Just as long as it happened after she got to drive his car. That lean '99 silver Celica with spoiler, moonroof, tinted windows, 6 CD changer, Black leather interior, auto everything except transmission. Not a speedy car, but enough pep, enough of a sporty feel for them. It wasn't about speed, it was about looking good, and that car looked good. She tried to convince Mulder to get a vanity plate with FOXY on it, he just looked at her like she had grown another head. As she grabbed the keys from his outstretched hand, she smiled the power, the absolute power of a sporty car sweeping over her. They waved to Kaja who had moved to the window to watch their departure and sped off to work. Work Mulder stole a quick kiss before they got out of the car, then they went into agent Scully and Mulder mode. Mulder wanted to parade up the halls holding her hand, letting everyone know that she was the most special person in his life. He knew that was impossible for them to do and still work together. He couldn't even wear his wedding ring which distressed him. Scully wore hers to give off the allusion that she was already married, though it didn't stop the other male agents from looking her direction. Mulder adopted what he called his Alpha Male Stance or AMS which gave off a distinct signal of ownership. He exercised it with caution though, cause Scully didn't particularly care for the AMS. She called it hovering and gave him a sharp elbow to the ribs when she caught him assuming the AMS. They arrived at the basement office and were greeted with larger piles of paperwork than they remembered. They settled in and started a long day at work. End of the Day As they approached the car Scully groaned. " What's wrong " Mulder asked worried " Last thing I needed right now, Sarah Greene." Mulder confused a moment looked up, how had he not noticed the tall blonde leaning on his brand-new car? Geez, Am I that whipped already? Mulder handed Scully the keys and walked around to the passenger side, nodding an acknowledgment to Agent Greene then waiting like a good boy to be let in the car. The female agent smiled as Scully approached. She had an obvious crush on Mulder and was disturbed that he paid no attention to her. It was obvious, he only had eyes for Agent Scully, even though she was a married woman. To her, Scully was a rival for his affections. " Hello Dana," then turning to Mulder, " your letting her drive your brand-new car, FOX?" Mulder winced at the sound of his name off her lips. It wasn't sweet and caressing like on those rare occasions that Scully said it, it was very possessive, even predatory. " Yeah, why not? I trust her with my life, why not my car?" Scully unlocked the car and Mulder escaped inside. " Excuse me," Scully said entering the car. The two agents locked eyes for a moment, estrogen flowing in the electricity between them. " Oh Fox, I was wondering, if you weren't busy tonight maybe . ." Mulder interrupted her " Sorry I have plans." Scully smiled devilishly as she closed the door on the lovelorn agent. Scully giggled as she drove away looking at Sarah. " Maybe I should wear my wedding ring to work?" Mulder said in a serious tone that caught Scully off guard. Maybe he should, they assume I'm married already, why not? " Sure Spooky, so what do you want for dinner, tell me when you see a drive thru you like." Mulder smiled, no Drive thru tonight. " Actually I thought maybe we could go out tonight, go to a nice restaurant, then maybe go shoot some pool or something." That sounds nice we haven't been out in ages, she thought as she answered, " Okay, and you can wear your wedding ring too." Mulder fished it out of his jacket pocket displaying it to Scully proudly. Scully shook her head at the obvious male pride that was emitting from every pore in his body. " I like to keep it close to my heart if I can't wear it." Oh Brother, how did I fall in love with a man as corny as him Scully thought as she turned into their development. It's amazing how she knows were home, Scully thought when she saw Kaja's big head appear in the window. Mulder hopped out of the car and practically ran into the house, scared Marty Smith would get him if he lingered. Waiting at the door, Mulder grabbed Scully smothering her with kisses. He hated having to wait this long to kiss her, to hold her. " Whoa, slow down, lover-boy! Let me put down my brief case first." Mulder kissed her nose and released her. True to her word, she sat her briefcase down then pulled his face to her awaiting lips. She felt his tongue begin to explore and broke away. If we start now, we'll never go any where. A disappointed Mulder watched her walk over to Fox jr.'s pen to check on him. He removed his tie and walked back to their bedroom. He had the whole weekend planned in his head, a restful, romantic weekend with his wife. Tomorrow a day at home to cuddle in front of the fireplace, watch a movie, read a book, play a game. Just be together in front of a roaring fire. The roaring fire was a prerequisite. They had been in the house for almost a year and haven't used it once. Then Sunday they would sleep late, go to the park, who knows another day in front of the fireplace? He took off his shirt as Scully came in " Hey Spooky, what do you want to wear? A sweater or a turtleneck?" Spooky, he liked the sound of it, her special pet name for him. Strange, he doesn't have one for her, maybe he should think of one. " A turtle neck, I 'll wear my jacket." She pulled out a heather gray turtle neck, dark blue jeans, his black boots and laid it on the bed, making sure there were no wrinkles in it. Scully was a more doting wife than he thought possible, irons and picks out all his clothes, and she even gives him a bath every night, it was her one wifey thing to do she said. In return, Mulder cooked, cleaned, took care of the kids and basically made her the center of his world. He wouldn't give this up for anything, whipped or not. He watched the beginning of the game Fox jr. in his lap and waited for Scully. He heard a yelp of pain, worried he asked , " You all right Dana?" Dana? Scully thought, what was he planning for tonight? " Yeah, just a paper cut" She emerged from their bedroom, and Mulder's heart stopped in his chest. She was so gorgeous, Was she always going to have this effect on me? Would I be able to handle it? Her lug soled Medium Brown American Eagles were covered by her Khaki pants, which was topped with a maroon and tan Corduroy shirt, open over a white T shirt. " Ready?" Mulder stunned for a moment rose and said " Yeah" then to Fox jr " Come on little Fox back to your room." They climbed into Scully's Intrigue and she handed Mulder the keys. Not his preferred Car, but he was liking it more, each time he drove it. It had a lot of pickup, roomy, cornered extraordinarily well and looked pretty cool. Though it had nothing on his Celica, he thought as they pulled away for an evening on the town. 9:30 p.m. They walked into the pool hall, they marveled at how different it was from the ones they used to frequent when they were in town. You could actually see the atmosphere instead of just smoke. They picked a secluded table in the corner, and Mulder ordered two beers and brought them over. Scully set up the balls and handed Mulder a cue. Outside, Sarah Greene watched them. She hadn't expected to run into them on this side of town. Mulder laughed as Scully systematically beat him in their first game. When Mulder bent to shoot, a glint of metal glistened on his finger. He usually doesn't wear any jewelry. She looked at it again. Was that, was that, a wedding ring?" She needed to investigate, she walked inside. She spied them in a secluded corner, and watched through the crowd. As Scully shot, Mulder's hand rested lightly on her back, he hovered over her, a perfect shot. Hmm she's good at this game. He smiled that adorable lopsided grin at her picked up his drink and toasted her. They're just here as friends, but what is that on his finger? And where is Dana's Husband? She started towards them, then stopped her heart breaking as she watched Mulder kiss Scully. Not a friendly little peck either, but his open mouth covered hers, the glint of his tongue in her mouth. Scully pulled away, kissing the tip of his nose as he set the balls up again. Sarah vanished into the crowd, if they saw her, they wouldn't continue and she wanted to see exactly how involved they were. She moved closer and in a position that she could get a good look at Mulder's hand. He was talking with a biker type who was challenging Mulder to a game, Mulder somehow convinced him to play Scully. Bad move biker dude, she's a pro. As Scully got on with beating the tar out of the Biker man, Sarah looked at Mulder's hand as it rested on Scully's back. It was an eternity band, a gold eternity band with big sparkling diamonds. She then compared it quickly with Scully's. She had a plain gold band. Not the same not a set. They were married, but to other people. So what were they doing here, together, on what is obviously a date? What am I doing watching them? I was here waiting for MY date. 12 p.m. He didn't show, oh well, at least I could watch these two some more. They are definitely having some kind of Affair. I wonder who's place they'll go too? A smirk crossed her face as they walked by not noticing her. Time for a little FBI investigation, she thought as she followed them. They got in the car and shared a deep long kiss before driving away. They turned into Stonehenge, Stonehenge? Somebody's spouse has money. Then they pulled into the driveway of a nice sprawling ranch styled house. Sarah parked across the street and walked over to the house. The Mulder's the mailbox read. Fox's place nice. She watched them head to the bedroom, lips locked playfully as they fell on the bed. Mulder took off his shirt and turned off the light on his descent. Oh my, I think Skinner needs to know about this, but he'll want more evidence than one night. Oh I have you now Dana Scully, if I can't have him, I'll fix it that you can't either. Monday 9:30 am. Mulder couldn't concentrate, he kept remembering excerpts of this weekend. He wanted to go over to her desk and . . . " Agents Mulder and Scully, report to AD Skinners office immediately." Intercom, what was up? Mulder thought as he grabbed his suit jacket and followed Scully to Skinners office. Scully and Mulder sat in the chairs facing Skinner. Sarah Greene smiled triumphantly in the corner. What was going on? Mulder unconsciously threw his arm around the back of Scully's chair placing his free hand on her thigh. This was met with a quick jab to the ribs that startled Mulder back to reality. Skinner smiled at the action amused. " Agent Greene has come to me with a serious issue. Agent Greene." " This past weekend I observed Agents Scully and Mulder in several very intimate situations which lead me to believe that they are carrying on an interoffice Affair. It was confirmed with further investigation resulting in me witnessing them in a few compromising situations." Mulder blushed, it was more than compromising he thought, it was down right scandalous. Skinner tried unsuccessfully to hold back a smile. " Do you have anything to say agents?" They sat there for a moment then Scully said " No sir" Agent Greene looked at Scully, Brazen aren't we? Skinner looked at Agent Greene, then back at Mulder and Scully. " All right be more carefully next time, back to work." As they rose, Agent Greene said, " Wait a second, they've broken protocol. They are romantically involved and are partners, they need to be reprimanded, they need . . ." "I will decide the necessary punishment and I have. They broke protocol when they got married, but they proved they could carry out their work with an efficiency unparalleled in there previous work or any other agents in this office. Now do you have anything else you want to say Agent Greene." " Their Married??" Mulder grabbed Scully's hand as they left an exasperated Agent Greene in Skinners office. Mulder was carrying out Scully Fantasy Number 492, showing public affection at work. By the time lunch rolled around, everyone in the building knew of their marriage, Skinner had convinced the review board tat there relationship has only enhanced the quality of there work. Back at the office Scully grabbed her briefcase. Well she said it was too quiet a little excitement was overdue. Which reminded her when was the last vacation they took? She headed out he door, Mulder following behind looking strangely satisfied.
