The Evolution of Mulder and Scully Hair
In the Pilot, Scully's hair was long with little bangs either pulled back or left out. Mulder's hair was what I called the Superman Curl, which looked very nice when, and only when he wore the Coveted Mulder glasses. (Go to my Links page to understand that statement, I mean it People love Mulder with Glasses) Both developed and Both had their bad seasons. Lets start with Mulder. He had the Superman curl throughout the First Season. Though it disappered for Beyond the Sea, it reappeared the very next episode. This disappearing and reappearing happened all season, tempting us viewers with Mulder's true hair glory. In Season Two, he got the message about the S-curl and in an attempt to rid himself of the bothersome cowlick, he buzzed his hair for what I called the spiky look. Now at first it was awkward, sticking up in different direction, However, by One Breath he got it together and by Colony he had the spike down. By Anasazi though, he had gone down another dark path, what I called his Little Boy look, all his hair combed down in the front. He wore that style for a number of episodes, but happy to say he got it together and ushered in a period of good Mulder hair. Now not to totally discredit the Little Boy look, at times it was quite appealing. The first couple of episodes it was well put together, however later on it did not work well with all the action that Mulder had to do. That unappealling cowlick would reappear to many times ruining the style. Now in the latter of Season 3 thru the X-Files movie, he had the smooth and under control, but if it got mussed it looks even better Mulder hair we have all come to know and love. In Season 6 he has gone back to the buzz cut. Having learned from second season mistakes, he now uses a variety of hair care products to control his mane. Now Scully, lets see what I can say about her. I mean it she had Bad Scully hair till the end of Season Two. Though there were high points, The frumpy mommy cut, tiny bangs and long sides, did not fit her character. By Anasazi however, she had the sophisticated Scully hair we have come to know and love. She also kicked those ugly Scully clothes of First and Second Season.
