ALAN BAIRD
Sailor, Navigator, and Adventurer

Alan Baird is a Player Character in the world of Alleria. He is 6'0" and 180lbs with a fair number of scars. He is young but dark and quietly serious. He began his adventures wearing only a faded blue shirt, brown canvas pants, and a belt with a rigging knife (dagger) stuck casually in it. Alan was barefoot. But he also had 500 crowns, 3 days rations, and a deed to his parent's simple home in Port Alyxandria.
More than anything else, Alan Baird wants to be a bold merchant captain, plying the seas of Alleria while trading cargoes, exploring new realms, and fighting pirates. Since growing up a boy on the waterfront of Port Alyxandrya, he has watched one by one as his friends put to sea and left him behind.

Day 1
Spring of Era XI
In the Age of the
Darkening
Finally, unable to remain a wharf rat any longer, Alan booked working passage on a merchantman bound north, SEA MAIDEN, where he spent much of his time peeling vegetables, scrubbing decks, and stuffing baggywrinkle. But every now and then, he took a helm watch or rolled out of his hammock for sail stations and hauled in or loosed canvas aloft. Soon he was sure he had main the right choice as he headed north to Carmelyn and a chance to join the Imperial Navy.

Days 2-30
Spring of Era XI
In the Age of the
Darkening
Alan slowly began to learn the basics of how to sail a ship, to navigate, and to fight at sea. Alleria is large and her ports needed sea captains to haul cargo. He dreamed of routes and kept a journal of notes on this journey from Port Alyxandrya to Port Libertas in Archadoon. Someday he would need to know what lay between each of these ports and his journal would be the start.

Beyond the Allerian Empire lay Alleria itself. A bold sea captain would be able to travel anywhere a cutlass and bow could protect him and a chart could lead. Alan Baird knew little of this world. But he would learn.
Day 31
Spring of Era XI
In the Age of the
Darkening
Alan disembarked and promptly reported to the Imperial Navy at Archadoon where he signed up and gained an ID, a cadet uniform, a cutlass and scabbard, and a bunk in the barracks...as well as an unexpected 100 crowns for joining!

Days 32-33
Spring of Era XI
In the Age of the
Darkening
For two days he kicked around the Navy grounds waiting until he could report to Lt. Berkshire at the training compound. He wanted no trouble until after he had learned to use his cutlass. He spent the time updating his journal, watching those around him, and (when not watched) getting used to his sword.
