Rebirth

A rumbling tears through my soul
like thunder roaring in my ears
with rain falling to the hole in the ground,
filling the well of tears.

The taste of blood,
as it fills my mouth so salty with the pulp of life,
causes my stomach to rumble as I wish for more
than swift satisfaction and pride.

Foul odor of death lingers on my breath.
Can you smell it?
The silence of her beat-less heart makes me
bare my red teeth to the world and laugh.

Silently then I rend my own flesh to feed
her cooling lips with the curse of my forever.
Gentle drippings bring out the color of her cheeks
as her eyes flutter and perceive once more.

She grasps my oozing arm and rips away the flesh,
as I grin with delight at her unrestrained
feeding on my own essence,
that fierce remembrance of life: pain!

Together we surge upward
to the phosphorescent moon
and seek out the quencher of our hunger:
her appetite makes me swoon.
