Comments: Having con in Tallahassee Oct 13. Received a call from Pensacola News Journal asking about our Federation Day celebration and the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek Huntsville con that appeared in 9/5 paper. Met with CO of shuttle forming in Foley, AL to discuss procedures for their launch. Working with 2 local hospitals and FL prison system on "Baby Hold Me Tight" program. We collect scraps of cloth which get sent to the prison where prisoners make rag dolls.
Problems: Ex-CO has refused to turn over items belonging to chapter. Most items are sentimental, but a couple have monetary value.

Comments: Many members active in Star Fleet Academy and are turning in exceptional scores. Our soon-to-be shuttle commander Kristi Evans passed OTS and OCC. Shuttle in process of sending in VRR.
Problems: Crew VERY concerned about new membership rates and the plan to break the CQ from Starfleet memberships. We think this is a bad idea and will reduce communication and may even violate our constitution in ballots are delievered in the CQ. Please review this policy and insure that there is no better solution.

Comments: CO attened IC and not a bad weekend overall. Didn't get the answers I was hoping for, but I didn't come away empty handed either. Was pleased at getting the April/May CQ at the IC. Following weekend was Huntsville con. First let me thank Pete Mohney and the rest of the Hephestus crew for their hard work and dedication and help. Participated in Jerry Lewis Telethon by working in the mail room. Working with the R2 RC and the rest of the Alabama CO's to have a Captain's Call. Special thanks to go to Barbara Paul, the Region 2 Awards Program Director. When I sent her some email asking if she had sent a copy of the program book to the WVB, she called me at her expense and resent the program to my correct address.
Problems: My Ops officer has let his membership expire due to disatisfaction with Fleet and lateness of CQ. My interpertation is that non-Fleet members are NOT allowed to serve in positions of importance. Others feel that only applies to CO/XO. He is a hard worker which makes this a difficult decision. Email a ruling on this as soon as possible.

Comments:Planning for Star Con in Atlanta in November. A very large turnout by our group is expected. Was going to man the Humane Scoiety's booth at the Arlington Craft Fair but event was cancelled due to bad weather. Two members won free passes to the convention in Huntsville. They felt the talks and panels were great but the dealers room was crowded and the merchandise over priced.
