Kamov Ka-31 and Ka-32 Helix

Ka-31 Helix-B: Originally known as the Ka-29RLD Helix-B, this is the carrierborne AEW member of the family with an NIIR surveillance radar whose antenna hinges down from the horizontal position under the fuselage to the vertical position before its starts to rotate as its looks for fighter-sized echoes out to a maximum range of 81 nm (93 miles; 150 km). The Ka-31 also has two equipment panniers on the starboard side of the cabin, and an extended tail cone probably accommodating the antenna for an ESM/ECM system. The Ka-31 has a crew of two and an endurance of 2 hours 30 minutes at an altitude of 11,480 ft (3500 m).

The NATO reporting name 'Helix-C' has been given to the Ka-32 civil helicopter which can carry a payload of 11,023 lb (5000 kg) payload over a range of 97 nm (112 miles; 180 km).

Ka-32S Helix-C: This is the general-purpose member of the Ka-27 series that can be used in roles as diverse as SAR, planeguard and under-way replenishment of warships at sea. Though based on the 'Helix-A', the type has the two external fuel tanks of the 'Helix-C' and is fitted as standard with a rescue hoist.
