Cut, Copy, And Paste. (CC&P)

First of all, here are the button pushes to do these 3 things:

While holding down the "CMD" button, push "A" to highlight ALL text in a given area.

CMD & "C" will COPY highlighted text.

CMD & "V" will paste text that you COPIED.

CMD & "X" will CUT out highlighted text, but only in area's such as writing mail, or filling in text areas. It will not remove text from places like webpages, or an email you've sent to yourself.

Now to only highlight a certain portion of text, instead of ALL the text, do this:

In areas, such as writing email, or filling out forms, where you have a moving cursor, as you type:

Put the cursor where you want to start highlighting, press and HOLD the SHIFT key, while using the ARROW keys to highlight text.

Using the down arrow will highlight whole lines at a time, while the right arrow will highlight one letter at time.
You can use the up, or left arrows to go backwards, as well.

@ Now, say your on a webpage such as this one, and you want to only copy THIS PARAGRAPH, instead of the whole page.
Since you don't have a moving cursor while viewing this webpage, you can't put it where you want to start highlighting. Here's the work around for that:
Push your "FIND" button, and enter the @ symbol. Then hit your "RETURN" button.
You will now notice that the @ at the beginning of this paragraph is now highlighted.

Now you can use your SHIFT and arrow keys to highlight text on this webpage.
You can enter a whole word / words in the FIND box.

If there is more than 1 @ symbol on the page, and you didn't want the first one, you can hit the CMD & "G" button to find the next @ on the page.
Every time you hit CMD+G, you will go to the next @ symbol, and when there are no more, you will toggle through them all over again, starting from the top.
You can also toggle backwards, by hitting CMD+B.

How to "Bounce" an E-mail,
or Newsgroup Post

Bouncing an E-mail comes in handy, if you need to see the "FULL HEADERS", to determine the true source of the "Sender".

It's also real handy for seeing the entire HTML coding the person used in the email, or post.

I use this technique to troubleshoot code problems, or to find out the address's of images & audio files, as well.

To "Bounce" an E-mail, or post:

1)

While viewing an email, or post, - press the "SEND" button on your WEBTV keyboard. This will bring a "pop-up" on screen with a "FORWARD" button to click on.
(You can do the forwarding process manually, but this is a short-cut).

While on the "forward" screen, address it to YOURSELF, and if you have an HTML Sig., shut it OFF.

2)

Now put your cursor in the "Subject" line, and DELETE the entire subject, then hit your RETURN button 3 times. (Your cursor should now be in the "Body" portion of the email).

3)

Hit ALT+Z to make this: , then hit CMD+A to highlight ALL, then CMD+X to CUT.

4)

Now, put the cursor back into the subject line, and hit CMD+V to PASTE, and then send yourself this forward.

When you open this email that you've sent yourself, you'll see the FULL headers, and any HTML coding that was in the original. Any image, or audio URL's will be clickable, and you will be able to see the true identity of who has sent you the email, along with how they constructed any HTML in it.

Transferring WEBTV Favorites from one user, to another.

From your HOME page, go down to the drop menu that says: "MORE".
Select "Pagebuilder".
Create a webpage after agreeing to the "Terms of Service".

Choose a background for your page, and add a simple title for it. (Like: "Favs")
Now choose the "ADD ITEM" icon at the top.
Then choose "Links".

On the next screen you will see some blank spaces, in 2 columns, and at the bottom, the option for ADDING more lines, and ADDING links from your favorites.
Choose "ADD links from favorites".
Now you will see a list of every favorite in all your folders. Click on all the ones you want to transfer to your other user, and click DONE at the bottom.
Now you will be back on the list of links item that you have added, and it will have all the spaces filled in with your FAVS.
Click DONE.

Now you will be on your webpage edit area again. Choose PUBLISH on the left side bar.

Now it gives you the chance to rename the page or add a description.
DON'T change the name of the page.
Just type: "Favorite Folders" (optional) in the description area, and click CONTINUE.

Now on this last page you will see the option to "announce your webpage to someone", or add its URL to your signature.

Choose the "Announce" option, and address the email to the secondary user you want to send it to, and send it.

Now finally, it will give you your webpage URL. Write it down for reference, and click DONE.

Your webpage is now on the internet, and includes links to all your favs.
Now switch users, and sign on to your secondary user, and go into your FAVS.
CREATE all the folders by name, that you had on the other screen name, and now your ready to fill them up.

Now open the mail that you sent yourself, click on the link that's in the email, and you will be on your newly created website.

Click on all the links, one at a time, and SAVE them in the appropriate folder.

TRANSFER COMPLETE

Transferring WEBTV address books from one user to another.

This one's not as easy to do, as transferring your Favs, but its about the only way.
I am giving 2 methods here.

Option 1 will let you transfer both, the address's, AND the persons name, the way you have them typed in.

Option 2 will only transfer the email address's themselves. (without the name).

OPTION #1 )

Go into your address book, and put your cursor on the right hand side of the page.

Press CMD+A to highlight the whole right side of your address book.
Press CMD+C to copy.
Now go to your "Write mail" screen and paste it.
Address the mail to your secondary user, and send it.
(If your address book is more than 1 page long, don't send the mail yet. Go back and view page 2 and repeat this process before you send this mail.)

Now go to your secondary user, and open the mail you just sent yourself.
Copy and Paste 1 Name and address at a time, into your address book. (You will have to separate each name from the address once you get into the address book, so that the name is in the top box, and the address is in the bottom.)

OPTION #2 )

To transfer your addresses only (without name), go to your write mail screen.

Click on the "TO:" to bring up your address list.
Click on every addy that you want to transfer, then click "continue".
Now put your cursor in the "TO:" area, and hit CMD+A to highlight all, and CMD+X to cut.
Now go down to the body of the email where you write your text, and hit CMD+V to paste.

Finally, address this email to the secondary user you want to transfer it to and click "send".

Once in your second user name--you still have to CC&P each addy one at a time, into your address book, and then manually type in a name for them.
Make sure you edit out the comma's, and spaces in between each addy.

These 2 methods are the only way.
No other way to do it---sorry.

Text & Font Tricks

Ever wonder how to UNDERLINE text, or make it BOLD, italic, bigger, or a different color?
Well, look no further! With a tiny bit of HTML, it's possible to do, in email, and on webpages.

First of all, if you want to do this in a SINGLE email then you need to put this opening <html> tag at the very beginning of he email body, (right under the "subject line"), and this closing </html> tag as the last thing in the email body.
Now that these 2 tags are in the email, everything in the middle of them will be effected by the below codes. Keep in mind that ALL your email text goes between these 2 tags.

Note that these 2 <html> </html> tags are not for our pagebuilder webpages.
The built-in pagebuilder hidden templates already includes these tags, so don't put them on webpages. For webpages, simply use the below codes, by themselves.

To underline, you put an opening <u> tag in front of the text to be underlined, and a closing </u> tag at the end.
<u>This would be how to underline text.</u> ,
and this is what it would look like:
This would be how to underline text.

The same thing is done for bold, or italic text.
<i>This would give you italic text,</i>
like this,
and <b> this would give you bold text, </b>
like this.

To change the text size, you would put this tag:
<font size="?"> in front of the text to be effected, and this: </font> at the end of the effected text.
Note that the only space in: <font size="?"> is between the word "font" and "size".
Replace the ? mark with a number from 1-7.

COLORS

Now to change the text color, the same Font tag is used, but a different attribute is used:
<font color="red">some red text</font>
(1 space between "Font" and "color")
The above code will give you:
some red text

Using actual color names will work, but browsers will better understand the Hexcode equivalent, and will load a hexcode faster that a color name.

I have a Hexcode color converter HERE. Simply type in the color name, and it will give you the 6 character hexcode for that color.
I recommend that you keep a notebook that lists your favorite, most used colors, along with the hexcode that goes with it, for future reference. The hexcode for "red" is: #FF0000 So the above code could be better written as:

<font color="#FF0000">some red text</font>

To use both of these attributes at the same time, just include both of them within the Font tag like this:
<font size="6" color="#FF0000">some red text</font>
Note: 1 space between font and size, and 1 space between "6", and color.
All attributes and values, should be separated by a space.

Here is an example, demonstrating the use of the above:

<font size="6" color="#FF0000">Today, I will put <u>Martok's Basic Tutes</u> in my <b>Favorite's Folder</b>, and maybe even assign it to an <i>F-Key</i>.</font>

Which will look like this:

Today, I will put Martok's Basic Tutes in my Favorite's Folder, and maybe even assign it to an F-Key.

In order for you to more permanently change the colors in your email, instead of 1 email at a time, click here.

Using this simple HTML will put you in full control of all your text.

Since I have just only started making tutes and haven't covered much in this page, here are the 3 most significant help sites that have most influenced my knowledge and ability.
